  6. Hello again Trixie ...looks like you have had your hair done...don't you look pretty. I helped to transport Trixie and can confirm she is a smashing little girl who seems a lot younger than her years. What was really cute about Trixie was the fact that although I had only met her once before prior to the transport day, when we were waiting on the service station for the next transporter I popped to the 'ladies' leaving hubby holding her..when I was walking back she spotted me from a distance, even though it was busy, and her little tail started wagging which I though was really sweet. She is a lovely dog...good luck Trixie in finding your new home.
  7. Thank you all for taking the time to give me so much detailed feedback and so many very valid viewpoints. You can be sure I shall be passing them on. I knew I could rely on you Fugees to tell it 'like it is'....... Thank you x
  8. Hi everyone, Thanks for all the interesting and valuable replies....never expected to get so much So any last minute thoughts or comments before I close my 'poll'?
  9. Hi, I have recently started work for a local vet who is wanting to increase customers. There are a number of other vets in close proximity to the one I work for. Being very naive and as someone who has never had much contact with vets before, except for yearly boosters for my dog (fortunately I have a healthy dog), I did tell tell them that although they are supposed to love animals most vets are seen as being mercenary (although I appreciate they have a business to run), and most appear dull, functional and cold. But maybe that is just my experience! (and maybe I wont have my job for long!!) but I thought I would ask you Fugees: 1) what makes one vet practice stand out from another and 2) what would make you consider changing vets I have the following points to consider: A) Convenience - location and opening times B) Sense of caring C) Links with Animal Charities D) Parking availability E) Cheap prices F) Friendliness of staff G) In house facilities for operations H) The same vets I) Ability of vets J) Attracitiveness of waiting rooms K) Community Interest - i.e talks at shools etc. Are any of those in your top 3 for choosing or staying with your vet? If so which 3? (Just the letter will do) Also are you able to say what would attrect you to move from the vet you currently use? Thank you for taking part.
  10. Here is Mindy...she is gorgeous, very affectionate and friendly and gentle. She came into our RSPCA branch as a stray and has been waiting patiently every day, waiting for a visitor to see how much she has to offer despite her age, which we estimate to be around 10 -12 years. She has no health problems. She would love to find a nice comfortable home to spend her days, where she can share the love she has waiting to give with the person who is lucky enough to see her as the lovely cat she is. Here is what she would like to say about herself; Hi I am Mindy. I am waiting patiently everyday for someone to choose me. I am a lady of 'a certain age' and I am frightened I will be overlooked as people seem to like the younger cats more. I am a lovely tabby girl. The lady at the cattery says I am adorable and very friendly. I had no home at all and so was bought to the Branch so that I could be found one. I am about 10 - 12 yrs old. Can you offer me a home, where I will be loved and safe. If so please ring my carers and ask about me. Thank you Mindy x We are happy to rehome Mindy anywhere in the country, as long as potential adopters are able to visit Mindy to collect her. If you would like to know more about Mindy please contact Kate at RSPCA Stafford Wolverhampton and District Branch on 07504 793931 or at [email protected] Thank you
  11. Hi all, I too live in Stafford and can walk to Cannock Chase from my house..unfortunatley if we have another walk on there I would not be able to bring my dog Spike as he is a bit anti-social with other dogs....maybe I can borrow a dog friendly one from somewhere! Just to mention as well I am the Regional Co-ordinator for Oldies Club for Staffordshire and the West Midlands so if any of you in those areas would like to get involved with helping out Oldies Club in someway please PM me I am tyring to get a group of us together for events this year - starting off with a Meet and Greet at Pets at Home in Stafford on January 24th - helpers very welcome. But would love to meet up with a folks simply for a walk over Cannock Chase
  12. Hi, We are told that a black and white cat (we are not sure at this stage if it is a boy or a girl) turned up at a builders merchants yard in Willenhall, West Midlands about 6 weeks ago. As it is a builders yard it could have come from anywhere in the country on one of the lorries. Apart from its distinctive black and white markings the other very distinctive feature is the fact that it has only 3 legs, with one of its front legs amputated. It is also wearing a gold coloured collar. It is not microchipped. Fortunately some very kind people at the yard have been looking after it making sure it is fed and safe...it even has its own duvet now! We have been asked to help today and we will be taking it into the Branch in the next few days when we have an available space but if you have lost a cat fitting this description please ring RSPCA Stafford Wolverhampton and District Branch 07504 793931 or email [email protected]

    Wet Nights

Hi everyone...thankyou for all your suggestions. I did try the bin bag but it all rustled and crinkled so much when he was getting up and turning round that I dont think he was getting much sleep!!!...and to be honest it was quite funny...he had that look on his face that said, 'What the.......has happened to my bed!' Maybe I just need to find some different bin bags, which aren't so cheap and nasty!...but will have a look at the waterproof covers on the sites sugested.

    Wet Nights

My wonderful oldie Spike, who is 13-14ish has started to have a few problems at night resulting in a wet bed (Not often, just now and again)...does anyone know of a waterproof cover I could buy that would fit around his 'mattress' in his dog bed and which I could then put his ordinary zip up cover on top...similar to childrens bed protection covers. I can find protection pads but nothing that fits around the whole mattress. Thank you
  15. Well done ...you are putting me to shame as well.....but isn't it great news
  16. I have only just read this but am sending you and Spike lots of and positive thoughts. My dog is called Spike to...so my Spike hopes your Spike is well soon

  21. I need a new mousemat but rather than buy one in town I would like to buy one from a dog rescue. I have been looking but cant find a dog rescue that has one in their merchandise for sale section. Anyone out there?
  22. Hi Fee, She could try contacting the Border Collie Trust at Colton Nr Rugely which is fairly local to Stoke on Trent. They may be able to help with a suitable behaviourist suggestion http://www.bordercollietrustgb.org.uk/
  23. This is Jeremy - he needs to be a house cat as he is deaf. He is very friendly and purrs a lot! My name is Jeremy. I am 5 years old. I was bought in by an Inspector as a stray. I was very bedraggled and in need of veterinary treatment for an abcess on my face. I am now receiving that treatment. I am deaf - and was finding life very, very difficult on my own. So now I need to be a house cat, in a peaceful household, where I will be safe and secure. Can you help me find my confidence again, and feel safe? We will consder rehoming Jeremy anywhere in the country, subject to a Home Visit, if the potential adopter is able to visit and collect Jeremy. Jeremy is in the care of RSPCA Stafford Wolverhampton and District Branch. For more information please email [email protected] or ring 07504793931.
