Just to let you know I am on holiday from tomorrow 16/10 until 30/10....I am not suggesting you put it on hold for me to be here (I am sure you wouldn't )....please carry on...just didn't want you thinking I had posted and now I was not showing an interest. I will catch up when I get back...and see what is happening then.
  2. Try this: [email protected] That should work...as Zico's mum says there are too many gaps in the other one....but a little elf tells me your offers have been noted
  3. Also emailed to be a Secret Santa and to help out with it if I can.

What a fab idea Not sure how much use I would be..would be 50/50 on Art/Literature, Music, and TV...useless, useless, useless on Geography and Sport...but would be prepared to make a fool of myself for Oldies Club...if you are desperate to make up the numbers
  5. As the other part of the transport I totally agree with whats been said above...she was a sweetheart. So pleased she didn't have to wait long for her new home...be happy Buster x
  6. Hi, I would be happy to help with this. I think it is a great idea. I am around a lot during the day.
  7. Can anyone help Benson? Benson is a black male cat 15yrs old who was handed in as a stray to one of our local vets. The vets have very kindly been looking after him ever since and advertised him in the lost and found column of a local newspaper..to try and trace his owners or find a new home. We (RSPCA Stafford Wolverhampton Branch) spotted the advert, and although we do not have the space to take him in ourselves at the moment, are working with the vets, to try and find him a new home. We have visited the vets and obtained this photo and video of the gorgeous boy. He is very friendly and affectionate and is just looking for someone to love him. We are not certain at the moment if Benson has any health issues relating to his age..but anyone who would be interested in offering Benson a home can rest assured that they would have a full picture about Benson and his health before proceeding. If you are interested in finding out more about Benson please email me at [email protected] or pm me. Benson could be rehomed anywhere subject to a home visit. If you are local to the Stafford/Wolverhampton area and could foster Benson we would love to hear from you as well. Thank you A short video of Benson can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6w7nmWdlntg
  8. Well I did it My legs are killing me My time was 1hour 11mins...not a world record but I did run all the way...and don't I know it. Have attached some photos of me during and after, with my friends 'Oldie', Rosie 12yrs. Oldies Club got a mention as I crossed the finish line. Thank you to every body that has sponsored me and offered support along the way...£214 raised for Oldies Club...so well done everyone! At 6k...oooh the pain! At 8k..as you can see I was sooo fast I was just a blur! Hooray..its all over and I have the t-shirt to prove it !!
  9. The dreaded run is tomorrow...last chance to sponsor me. Wish me luck!
  10. Ooooh not sure about my photo although Spike looks good Am up to 5 miles now and just a week to go. Thanks so much to all who have sponsored me so far...£178 at last count...can anyone help me to make it to £200 before next Sunday the 6th?
  11. An unashamed bump for Oldies Club and me!!! I was out this morning doing my second 4 mile run....the last mile involved a run up a very steep hill..halfway up I felt very sick and wobbly, and it was very tempting to give up ..and (this is true!) I looked up to the top of the hill and saw Ginty an Oldies dog who had been adopted near to me (I did the home visit) being walked..and I thought 'Yes that is the reason I am doing this, so that dogs like Ginty can find their forever home'....I dug in and managed to comlpete the run. Please support me if you can xxxxx
  12. I am running the Lichfield 10k on 6th September 2009 as a personal challenge and to raise funds for Oldies Club if you feel you could sponsor me to help raise as much as possible for Oldies Club that would be fab...even just £1 would make a difference. You can find out more about my running, including how much I need your help to encourage me along... (I have never run 10k in my life!! ) and to sponsor me, by visiting my fundraising page at https://www.help.co.uk/fundraisers/KateLee
  13. Hi, We have just been looking into this and our builder has told us to work on £750 per sqaure metre for a single storey extension - that is for all the building work and doors and windows...but on top of this you will have plumbing and electrics. Also you have to take into account the planning application fees as well. That is an average price, some builders charge a lot more than others, but it gives you a starting point Just looked at the house...very nice...if you are thinking of building on top of the garage you would have to check that the footings are right for you to be able to do it...otherwise you will have to knock the garage down and build it up again with the right footings in place. Been there and done that as well!
  14. Aren't 'people' just so annoying...dont they think things through Please don't feel bad...you have done a fantastic job with these two lovely dogs. I can sympathise with how you feel though I had exactly the same thing happen with my foster dog. The people who had him did last a little bit longer...till 9pm the next day having had him at 1pm the previous day, and I like you was gutted and upset as you feel so protective of them and then feel sooo guilty. I too was then off on holiday a week later and Max had to go to a friends house and I felt sooo guilty again!!.......but Max was fine he had a great time on holiday and now back with me he is the same lovely Max. But I know how you feel ...but go and enjoy yourself and view it as they are off on holiday to and they will have a fab time, the same as you should
  15. Max (aka 'His Highness Lord Stumpiness of Stafford ' because his legs are considerably shorter than my own dogs and he is so well mannered and polite that he must have been one of the 'gentry' in his previous life) is unfortunately still looking for his forever home. I dont know why - he is such a lovely dog and truly is so well behaved and loving, that I dont now why he hasn't been snapped up before now! He will make someone a wonderful friend
  16. That is fantastic news...well done Oldies Club for sticking with these two until they got they home they needed and a big thankyou to their fosterers...it must be soooo hard to see them go on their way after all this time
  17. Congratulations to all Two excellent photos which sum it all up for Oldies Club. Well done to the winners and massive thank you to Amy for getting this off the ground
  18. hi, I am afraid I cannot compete with the Sainsburys collection today....how fantastic was that ? But I went with my mom, who is 75 bless her!! and manned a stall at the Dog activity day, at Cannock Chase. I havent counted up yet but I think we only manged to raise about £25...but we had a lot of interest...I got a name for a fosterer and a fair few other people interested in fostering and maybe adopting...so who knows what may come of it. I can confirm that it was cold...and very very windy...the gazebo had to be tied to the car to stop it flying away As someone says....Every little helps!!!!
  19. Hi everyone, Do you live near Cannock Chase, Staffordshire? If so Oldies Club needs your help. Oldies Club has a stall booked on Saturday 9th May, 11am - 4pm, and I would be very happy to hear from anyone that has time to spare - 10mins upwards to help run an Oldies Club stall and promote the message!!! Please PM me if you are able to help.
  20. Unfortunately, and NOT due to any fault of Max but due to a problem with the adopters, Max's new home has not worked out ....and he is now back in his foster home. Max is again searching for his REAL forever home. He really is a little darling Could you have the home where Max can settle again? Please PM or ring Maly at Poundhounds on 07762341090 (please leave a message during the day if not available, usually answered after 7pm)
  21. I am pleased to annonce that Max has gone to his new home today thankyou to Poundhounds for getting him out of the pound and giving him a new chance in life. Be happy Max xxx
  22. We have switched to this...we were with Tesco's. So far it has been snag free...and has halved our phone bill. The mobile calls are the thing to watch as they bump the bill back up but if you don't phone that many you will be ok. Its great having free landline calls...you can go wild
  23. Mods - Hope I am ok to post this on behalf of Poundhounds as I am fostering Max for them and I know Maly is rushed off her feet trying to find spaces for other dogs at the moment Please remove if not. Max is a 10 year old Staffie cross who is currently in a foster home in Stafford and is being rehomed by Poundhounds. He is a beautiful, gentle boy and deserves a loving family of his own. Please click on images to enlarge them. Max is a well behaved boy, he even wagged his tail all the time the vet was checking him over!. He is quiet in the house, just lazing around and waiting for his next meal and his next walk. He loves his cuddles and fuss…kneel on the floor next to him and he will happily sit on your lap! He has barked a couple of times when the doorbell has gone and when he is having a play, running around in the garden (if you don't want pigeons in your garden Max is the boy for you - as he will chase them off!)…but generally he is the strong, silent type. He enjoys his walks and is a delight on the lead, not pulling at all. He is happy to walk short distances or long. He doesn't bother about other dogs when out, and the few cats he has seen he will stop to look at and then carry on. He is house trained and will let you know when he wants to go out…at the moment if he wants to go out in the morning and we are not up he will bang the door of his room to let us know!…most mornings though he is far too comfortable to want to move and doesn't rush to get up. I cannot speak highly enough of Max, he is a lovely dog and his wonderful face and expressions make us laugh every day. He will make someone a lovely companion. Max has been vet checked, vaccinated, microchipped, flea treated and wormed. If you think that Max might be the ideal dog for you, please contact e mail: [email protected] telephone: Maly on 07762341090 (please leave a message during the day if not available, usually answered after 7pm) or PM me. Poundhounds will rehome Max anywhere in the UK subject to a satisfactory home visit but please note you will be required to travel to the foster home to meet him.
  24. All these lovely boys have now found a home. The thread can be closed thank you.
  25. Hi, I am fostering a 10 yr old male Staffy cross at the moment who is as good as gold...the problem is my dog He is a 13yr old border collie x greyhound. He has always been a bit wary around other dogs and has never had to share the house before so in some ways is doing really well, however.... He will walk along quite happily with my foster dog and they will walk up to each other, sniff noses and wag tails, sit next to each other having treats...but once in the house Spike (my dog) adopts the 'Collie Stare' and sits staring at Max (foster dog) for hours and nothing...believe me I have tried everything ..will stop him. My foster dog Max has been with us 12 days so I know it is early days but what I would like to know is should I let Spike keep staring in the hope he will just get fed up (his body language is getting slightly better) or do I keep trying to stop him doing it. I dont want to have to shout or drag him away which would build tension. There is a door gate between them at the moment and Max just ignores him completely and goes to sleep, but Spike keeps on staring . Any advice please?
