  1. Should you turn up on the doorstep you would be extremely welcome! Just fight your way past Dora the Chicken (just hanging out by the gate for who knows what.....), Cheeky the cat (on guard in case a passing case of cat food drops by.......) and Our Sam who is waiting for when his ship comes in and it starts raining Fillet steak!!!!!!!! Doggy heaven or what. Seriously, should you ever come by please be prepared to have tons of affection lavished on you by either licks/pecks or purrrrs......M
  2. Hello Everyone, Im Michelle and we have a nice animal (and human) family. Sam our Staffie boy is 12, he came from The Oldies Club last year. He kinda runs the house but as he is an older gent we let him get away with it. You have to respect age..... he is totally adorable & we wouldnt be without him. He is a brindle boy and doesnt even think he is his age - he boings everywhere, especially when we are in Cornwall. He is also a bit of a Ponker and a Bunter - those of you who have Staffies will know what this is. Then comes Cheeky the 5 year old mackerel tabbie who likes his big bro BUT wishes he wouldnt keep licking him!!! Next is Annie Cat the mad Tortie. Sam hates her - she hates him. She spits at him from on high - he barks. Then she just looks as if to say - sorry but Im up and your down so I think im probably on top.....Lastly we have The Chicky Girls - 3 Rescue Battery hens who dont lay eggs but are great fun anyway and keep comming in the house and wandering about. Oh and then there are the rescue cats in the pen - currently 4 feral kittens who love to spit at Sam. Great fun is had by all. It is never dull at our house - please visit if your passing!!! M
  3. Sam the Staffy says 'Thank You K9 Knitters for my beautiful coat!!! - I have modelled it round the house today and photos will be on their way to you shortly. It fits like a glove and makes me look even more handsome - I will be a Babe magnet and a half in this....'
  4. Gherkin Cat arrived today....I am totally lost for words. Thanks Melp - it's truly.......'original!!!'
  5. Excellent! Cindy, you have stunned me..... Thats one lucky wigger dog.
  6. Have paid for all my luverly Goodies & rounded up total to cover Paypal fees. Cant wait for everything to arrive!
  7. Fantastic! I shall do my very best to ensure you have the greatest time ever. Thank you for such a generous bid AND I won my tea pot - which will be in Driftwood for you when you arrive - ready for you to brew up a cuppa.
  8. I feel this is a vastly underrated piece of feline artwork - very Damien Hurst - I feel it incumbent upon me to bid for this addition to my collection of modern cat paraphenalia. I bid Sick Squid...... (thats 6 quid to those who cant work it out...).
  9. Prepared?? Prepared??? I am so prepared it's untrue - I am poised with my loose leaf and strainer...ready to brew a nice cuppa...28 quid - aha!!! Beat that my friend.
  10. Right, enough messing about - 25 quid for the tea pot. I have said it's mine and it is so dont even bother bidding anymore folks.........I have my pen poised over my cheque book.......and I'm not afraid to use it...

  12. Grr - I want to add some pics of the family (animals not people!) but have no idea how - can someone tell me how to add them to my intro thread? Sorry, am PC naive. Thank You, Michelle
  13. We adopted our Oldie Boy via Freecycle! If you've never heard of it it's a worldwide recycling group - checkout your local group via the internet. Anyway, we had 2 cats and fostered for Cat protection. My husband had Westies when younger and I briefly had a dog at home. We wanted a dog to add to our family but wanted to wait until we could actually give it the time it deserved. Cats are easy and walk themselves but dogs need real commitment. SO when the kids were big enough we started talking about it. My husband loves Border Collies - I wasnt too fussed really. A nice Heinz 57 would do me - BUT it had to be good with older children and cats. Anyway, there I was browsing freecycle when someone started asking about did anyone have a dog for re-homing? A reply was posted from a family who are involved with the Oldies Club, saying why not adopt an older dog as they are harder to place. Right up our street - we always have the 'rejects'. If it has an eye missing or half a tail, it will be very welcome here. SO we visited the website and applied. We were told of a pair of dogs and a Staffie who were cat friendly and looking for homes. We didnt really want 2 dogs as for a start our car wouldnt be big enough to take them on holiday, so we asked to go and visit the Staffie. It was with some trepidation.....after all, they have a reputation and have been known to eat the inhabitants of small countries haven't they???? WE bimbled along to Milton Keynes and met Sam and his Foster Mum. I was suprised - he seemed quite OK and didnt growl/bark/remove anyone's limbs etc. His Foster Mum put us at ease and we took him for a walk, played with him and generally got to know each other. We weren't able to take him there and then - which was good as we all go to discuss if we were ALL happy to adopt him. The kids were concerned, would he be OK with the Cats (who we all loved so much?), my husband was concerned, he too had fallen prey to the reputation fostered by the media generally about Staffies. I, unfortunately or fortunately, was in love. All arguments were put to bed and I reasured everyone that it would be just fine. 3 weeks later we brought our boy home. After about 12 hours he was being threatened with the local taxidermist. He woke up on the hour, every hour to cry, howl, whine....I had a few days off but was knackered. Surely he ought to just curl up and sleep??? Luckily Cindy rang and reassured me, then I rang his foster mum who also reassurred me. Within 24 hours he had settled and his taxidermy appointment was cancelled. And now? Well, my reluctant husband now adores Staffies - wouldnt swap him for the world, 'What a fantastic breed!' he says (to anyone who will listen), and he and Sam are devoted to each other. Find one and you'll find the other. Wether Steve is fixing his motorbike or in the bath, Sam is about a foot away. I do remind Sam that I was the one who actually wanted him in the first place, so his devotion ought to be directed at me BUT he just gives me Staffie eyes, licks my nose and goes off to find his dad. Sam adores the cats, is good with the chickens (only chases them every so often) and just loves anyone who visits. We wouldnt be without him. The support we received from the Oldies Club was just brilliant. As I am typing this Sam is curled up on the sofa. No matter how long we have our boy for, we are very blessed to have found him.
  14. 150 quid!! Fantastic.....bottle of chilled Chablis going in the fridge right now...Extra days added to w'end. Fri - Wed (or as negotitated with winning bidder!!). Am searching for nice juicy bone...Sam says he is happy to leave his bowls and ball for visiting Doggies to use/play with. PS Extremely generous gesture from Staffie who doesnt let just ANYONE play with his ball.....
  15. My Pleasure - our Boy came to us from The Oldies Club. We wouldn't be without him. Such smashing people who couldn't do enough to help ensure our Boy was right for us - & that we were right for him. We would just like to give something back.
  16. Blimey - never thought it would get up to this price! Forgot to say, entry to Tate St Ives, Barbara Hepworth Museum & English Heritage sites included (cards at flat ready to use). Will have to leave bottle of Vino (or nice fruit juice if winning bidder teetotal) and Bone for Sea Salty Doggy winner at this rate (or juicy Kitty grub if feline winner...) - am also happy to add on a couple of days if asked by winning bidder IF price gets to 150 quid. That means if your travelling a distance it's worth your while. Keep Bidding!!!!! If you've never been you'll love St Ives - not to be missed. Sorry if I wasnt meant to add anything - Im a bit PC hopeless and dint know how to ask Mod to add....
