  1. I keep all important documents and notes about policy and bank account numbers etc in a bag which is kept on a high shelf in case of flooding. In addition the documents have been scanned and put on a CD of which I have a couple of copies which are kept in very safe places. I have a wind up torch near the bed.
  2. So sorry, how awful. I would add loads of hugs for you, Duke and Squeak if I knew where the emoticons had gone.
  3. I understand and respect other peoples choice to become vegetarian or vegan in response to this kind of footage but that is not my choice. I haven't seen this film and maybe I would see it differently if I did but I have watched the trailer and have seen similar footage over the years, I still choose to eat meat. I do choose to eat meat from sources that I believe has ethically reared and killed the animals. I feel that if more people made this choice they would have a more positive effect on animal welfare than abstaining from eating meat. If increasing numbers of people move away from eating meat, those employed in the meat trade will source cheaper and cheaper meat in order to continue making a living and when the demand is for cheap meat, animal welfare will suffer. If the meat industry sees that the money is increasingly going to ethical farmers that is the way they will go, they won't start producing ethically reared more expensive meat in response to a dwindling industry. Not eating meat is a spoilt ballot paper if you like. Obviously if you believe that eventually enough people will abstain from meat to entirely collapse the meat industry this argument doesn't hold water but I don't think that will happen myself.
  4. EFT is brilliant! Well worth doing to help you cope with the situation.
  5. I would be really interested in some of this myself. I've not done soap making myself but have a look here; http://www.thesoapkitchen.co.uk/ I have phoned and emailed them for advice before now about various things and they have been really, really helpful.
  6. I expect the bollard deserved it, sneaky little feckers Please don't feel that because of what I said that if you do this I'll be sat here thinking you're a fool, I will be willing it to work out for you with all my heart So glad you are feeling a little better now EAT SOMETHING!! and take a good multi vitamin too, just to help your body along for a bit.
  7. I know I don't know you but just read through this and am really touched by the awful situation you find yourself in :GroupHug: The poster that said you should eat is right, you should but if you can't face it you can't. PLEASE bear in mind though that it will have a profound effect on your feelings. OK, you wouldn't be feeling great even if you were eating but lack of food will make you feel very depressed and desperate, as will the shock to your system of the whole situation. Remind yourself of this when you are at your lowest, some of the awful bleakness is just about lack of food ridiculous though that sounds. It will take you a while to adjust to the new situation and it will probably happen without you noticing, just try and be kind to yourself in the meantime. I have seen a few friends get back together after a split because once it is done, they were both feeling so at sea and lonely that they get back together rather than face the difficult times and everything seemed OK again, it never lasts though and they just prolong the pain. The only time I have seen a couple get back together successfully was when they both went through the pain and built separate lives, after they had got past needing each other they realised in time that they still wanted each other. Wishing you all the best :GroupHug:
  8. I've always wondered about this point too? Sorry that it has happened to you though Wendy
  9. I would also recommend cutting them short and no nail polish of any kind for a while. A cube of jelly a day should help too. I think iron and calcium levels effect nails, maybe a multi vitamin for a month?
  10. Well done Heva for trying to help this cat Run free little puss
  11. I know this is not exactly what you are looking for but I can personally vouch for this person Pet Therapy. She is very talented as well as been really nice, genuine and straight forward and may be able to at least give you some insight into what is going on with Ruby while you are sorting out the medical side of things, if she can't heal her of course
  12. Awwww Ruby Hope she is back to her old self soon
  13. I think that's probably a sign that it is the right thing for Wanda.
  14. I'm sending you a PM about this.
  15. Me and OH used the car window tinting film on our home windows including adding a fancy pattern. It was OK to use, you need to read all the instructions and follow them carefully but it's not bad. It does damage quite easily with dog claws but other than that fab.
  16. Any news on this yet? I was wondering how you were getting on with it.
  17. The injury the jogger sustained could have been caused by many things - tripping over a tree root for instance - so for me it was an injury that he had implicitly accepted the risk of by deciding to jog. The fact that it was actually caused by the dog I'm not sure is that important ... you could argue that it was caused not by the dog but by the fall down the bank. I feel this is a sensible decision from the judge which in these dog-phobic times is very welcome.
  18. Great photographs, they are beautiful animals.
  19. The plot thickens! Crufts on YouTube
  20. Daisy is lush! I don't know of anywhere around here that sells puppies but if there was and I needed to go there for anything then yes, I would look at the puppies when I was there. I would probably tell myself I was just checking they were OK too or that it didn't hurt to look at them and then sooner or later there'd be one that I could not leave. I know that would happen. We are all fallible and we all think we're not until it happens. Treasure little Daisy, I expect she was meant to be with you all along.
