  1. Just wondering if anyone here can recommend a GSD rescue in the West Midlands area? Someone I know recently lost there dog and are thinking about getting another, so thought I would ask as I don't know any in this area Thanks
  2. Lots of tips and advice on saving money on grocery shopping and many other things http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?f=33
  3. I am with the AA, I don't renew my cover, I let it lapse and then start over as a new customer, always cheaper
  4. One of mine struggles with the heat, I use a mars coat king and thin his coat out especially around his neck and behind his ears, and I clip his tummy and groin area completely, it makes a huge difference.
  5. Sorry if I have confused anyone with my posts, I thought they were very clear, will try and be more clear in future, so people can understand me better
  6. It was a reply to the post directly above mine and the reference was a direct reply to that post.
  7. I didn't see any of my posts as an attack or any of the following ones, sorry if thats how they were, percieved. The original one this morning was in response to what I had read on this thread, the past had been brought up and I think some of this thread was dare I say is hypocritcial, so I posted my thoughts regarding that and the past, which I have not done previously. My others posts were in direct response to you and others, not a continued attack. Not sure what your point is regarding the DP mod, I am aware of exactly what happened with Dasha and who did what.
  8. Did you read the rest of my original post this morning, what part of that would lead you to believe I only posted to cause trouble, I wanted to post my thoughts and feelings like yourself and many others, just because they aren't the same as yours and the majority of the members here, somehow that makes me a troublemaker? When I mentioned hosts I wasn't including you. I don't post here very often, for this very reason. ( I lurk)
  9. As I stated previously I have never read anything that I thought was connected to the incident I was talking about up until now, that doesn't make me factually wrong, it means I haven't seen or read it, that is not an accusation. I can feel some parts of this thread are hypocritical, whether you agree or not. But for several hosts to jump all over me is OTT. So the feeling I am left with, is the feeling I had when posting on DP, you are not free to post your opinions and believes. There is nothing false about what I have said, apparently you disagree with the word Hypocritical
  10. If I have missed them could some please correct me? This is getting very DP! But if I am intitled to my own opinion, I do believe it is hypocritical, what is wrong with having a different opinion to the mods on The Refuge Sorry could you point out what allegation I made in that post?
  11. Never heard any of the reasons why they did what they did at that time or anyone apologising for their behaviour either, but again it is still hypocritical and made me laugh and as this is The Refuge and not DP I thought I could post my thoughts on previous posts on this thread, or am I wrong?
  12. Not accusing The Refuge staff, this was prior to this site being set up, but I think most people that have been around 5 years or more will know I mean't Dasha, as it had been brought up on the thread and as I stated, I wish it hadn't.
  13. Not being funny, but what would what be? Not sure what the question is? Are you asking me what rescue?
  14. Just reading through the last few pages and I am laughing slightly, earlier in the thread I asked if anyone from DP could answer why RDR had found themselves in this situation, the only answer from both Mods that have posted was because they can! No worry or care for the effect that has on a hard working rescue, who is desperate for volunteers and rescue places, they are facing a very difficult time at present and DP is a large forum that has a large membership of new people, just starting to help in rescue, so surely any member or mod from any forum must see this as just plain wrong! So by DP standards if you post on DP or a Mod on DP you support this by association? Also would just like to comment on certain posts, I was banned from DP and I am proud of why! But the hypocrisy or certain members and mods on the refuge is laughable, most of you took part in a certain rescue's downfall, or kept very quiet. And some even went further than that, I know several people who took this hunt to a new low. And you now are jumping up and down about MR, what DP did to MR, most of you did to another rescue and their volunteers! ( I had hoped it wouldn't be mentioned at all) The refuge did take a stand on MR and did not repeat mistakes made in the past, to which I am very proud, but it is hard to explain why to people, who are either not involved in rescue or were not around before or to people who did not or can not learn from previous mistakes. And this is the reason for RDR not being allowed to post on dp, MR post on The Refuge, from what I can see this has nothing to do with MR at all, as other posters have pointed out that this regularly happens on other forums. So only one reason I can see, just plainly because they post here on The Refuge? Just a quick thought, I remember the good old days when I did post on DP and I truly wonder if any of the members are free to post their true thoughts and believes, including the mods, could you hand on heart post openly what you think about what is going on, without being banned yourself?
  15. Scoots or Roxysmum could you answer my question? Why was RDR stopped from using DP? Lets here DP's side? Why are rescues and the work they do but second, behind where else they post on the internet? Surely you do not support any resources being taken away from a rescue for no good reason? Why can't rescues post on both forums? Why can't people make their own minds up? One other question, if a forum is privately owned and the members have no input, is it fair and right, to accept money or donations towards the running of that site, privately owned should mean privately run?
  16. So just to clarify Dogpages banned RDR from posting for help finding places, homing and transporting dogs on death row, for one reason and that reason is posting on this site? Could someone from DP clarify this point? Why is necessary to ban rescues, that have done nothing but use a resource to help deathrow dogs? Or is there more to this? If that is correct than how can anyone defend or justify that behaviour?
  17. I was having problems with my insurance too, just wondering if it's the same company, I am going to contact Financial Ombudsman they will at least tell me if I have a case before going any further The company I have a problem with are I buy eco also know as Budget Insurance
  18. I'm not really sure what to do, she said she would check if there was any places requesting weekend visits and ring me back, before she made me an assessment appointment, how long do you wait for a call back? She made it sound like it was very unlikely that people requested weekend visits and I was the first person to ever what to do this. I don't want to go to head office as I worried it would cause a problem if I actually did join, starting to think maybe this isn't for us.
  19. I've been thinking about applying for a while and today rang to make an appointment for an assessment, they asked me if I was available late afternoons, I told the lady I work fulltime, only to be abruptly asked when do you intend to do any visits? The lady was seemed surprised that I had applied as I work full time and sounded doubtful that anyone would request weekend visits. If that is the case why not give that information out on the website or on the leaflets or even in the information pack? Surely some of the volunteers must work fulltime? Or do Pat Dogs only do week day visits? Just wondered if there were any Pat Dog people here that had any advice? Or is working fulltime a no go? Am slightly miffed as Lady wasn't exactly polite about it and was looking forward to doing something like this with my dog
  20. Always lovely to see photos of Parker, he has grown up to be such a handsome boy
  21. We've had one for about a year now, it is still going strong, it does seem to be harder to get the treats out than most toys, so it does keep them occupied longer. But my two older dogs don't think the effort is worth it But for the ones that do, it is perfect, can recommend the bouncing bone too
  22. I would stock up on these if your dogs like them as they are no longer being made, I asked at Crufts why they wern't selling them (Company of Animals) and was told they have been discontinued as they didn't do well in the US.
  23. Run free Lasso Sorry to hear he will be passing on Jackie
