  1. The same Lab went to pounce on Sham this morning but OH got hold of it's collar, the Cairn Terrier then tried to have a go too, Ruby was off in the woods. The elderly owner who I reported to the police after he used threatening and intimidating behavious towards me when it attacked Rosie then threatened violence on my OH for touching his dog. His daughter was walking past our house on the edge of the heath one night last week and it lunged over the road at a dog who was walking past with a lady and her little boy. I'm really getting sick of this being on pins every time we go out. When it attacked Rosie I rang the Dog Warden twice and got no response, then the police, it was only when he was threatening to me that they went round and had a chat to him. They asked me that time if the dog was dangerous but to me it's him that's the problem for not keeping his dog under control. I'm at my wits end with this stupid man.
  2. Ruby is fine thankfully but I am sick of being on edge every time we go out. I did wonder about the children Fee, but with a grandfather like they have it doesn't surprise me in the least. I was brought up to treat my elders with respect but he doesn't have respect for anyone so why should I respect him.
  3. Decided to take the girls down one of the many paths from the heath, we hadn't been down it for a while. Walking along beside the farmers field, OH ahead, then Ruby then myself with Lindy on lead and Sham lolling behind. Next thing Ruby comes bombing towards me and gets on the floor going mental. I noticed that there were hundreds of wasps flying round and there were loads on her. I dropped Lindy's lead and was swatting them all off her and they were buzzing and getting really mad, she'd obviously inadvertently disturbed a nest. Managed it and decided to turn back and go round the heath instead, she wouldn't leave our side and had her head attached either to mine or OH,s thigh. Walking along the path and who should come from another one but a Cairn Terrier that walks with the Lab that attacked Sham and Rosie, that had a go at Ruby but OH put his foot out. They were out with the owners son and two young boys, next thing the Lab runs round and jumps on Ruby. We were so angry and told him he should keep the dogs on a lead, the two boys started jeering and pulling faces and shouting "Woof, woof", honestly the mentality of that family. We walked along the path home and they came out again at another path to the front of the heath, this time he had the dogs on lead but the boys were still jeering and shouting at us as we went into our house. So poor Ruby hasn't had a very nice evening, attacked by wasps then dogs, she was covered in muck from the Lab pouncing on her. Luckily it hasn't made them wary of Labs as they love Lola a gorgeous Golden girl who walks on the heath (that Lab has attacked her too). Just had to rant

  7. I'm having lots of probs, an age to load, freezing, loads of white space between posts etc etc, using IE7. Can't get on the thread that's discussing any problems for some reason. Oh well, back to the sorting out of the comp room, enough rubbish to fill a couple of skips.
  8. I'm so so sorry Selina, Ollie was a true gentleman and it was a pleasure to of met him. Run free Ollie Selina

    Poor Jennie

No probs with fostering here if they allow it.
  11. I often look at that beautiful pic you took of her at the show Leslie.
  12. Sorry I didn't look, I could kick myself now but only thought of it afterwards. I was so intent on getting the girls back indoors. It was a dirty white transit van, the driver was in his 20's, the man who came to the gate was in his 30's I would say, foreign accents as I said.

    Poor Jennie

She's adorable Such a shame to find herself in kennels at her age. I'd offer foster as my 3 are quiet round the house but not looking to adopt at the moment.
  14. No I haven't Selina, I'll pop over and have a look.
  15. No problem Owl, I've posted it on the township forum and mentioned it to all the girls in the local Asda and on my rounds today too. Also spoken to a policeman I know who lives locally. Also told everyone I've met on the Heath and asked them to pass the word round.
  16. Awwwwww what lovely photo's, so nice to be able to look back and remember the good times.

    Poor Jem

  18. It's been 6 months today since our darling Rosie left us for the Bridge. Seems like yesterday and we still love and miss our softest babe so much. Couldn't let it pass Rosie without remembering you, although I do that every day.
  19. I'd just got in around 1 pm ish today, I needed the loo so I parked the car on the drive, shut the gates and dashed into the house and upstairs. Now it's very quiet here, the farm at the end (so no through road)and the heath opposite you don't see many people (except dogwalkers). I heard Sham barking (nothing unusual if she sees someone on heath) and then Ruby, I dashed down only to find a white van stopped on the front. A man had gotten out and was walking towards the gate, he put his hand over to stroke Sham. Then the driver got out and came over, I was very suspicious and hurriedly got all 3 girls inside. He asked what I'd said to him and I replied "Nothing, I was talking to my dogs". They got back in the van and drove off, they had strange accents that I could barely understand. It's really made me think, I'd left the door open as I was taking them straight out after my loo visit. In future I'll shut it till we're on the way out. It's a shame as Ruby and Rosie used to love sunbathing on the bench watching who was passing on the heath, now you just can't risk it.
  20. Not sure if anyone remembers that Sham hated being groomed when we first adopted her. She'd growl and snap when we touched her with the brush etc. She had to be muzzled for a while at the groomers. Anyway she was fine after a while but this story today made me laugh. I changed groomers to one more local who works from home in a purpose built unit, she's a lovely lady and has 3 rescue dogs herself. I took Sham this morning and then she got dropped off when finished. The lady said that Sham makes her laugh, when I said that she does have some funny ways and expressions she told me what had happened. She'd given her a first trim etc, then while she cleaned that up told Sham she could go for a wee, drink etc and wander round the garden before her shower, but, when she turned round Sham was already stood in the shower looking at her as if to say "Well come on then lets get on with it" She does this at home now when the ear cleaner or brush come out, she goes and lies on the rug waiting. Then, when she's finished she goes to the treat cupboard awaiting her reward. How things have changed.
  21. Have a great time everyone
