  1. What about other problems? Say the dog is over weight. Or maybe the dog has HD and is still being let off lead to run for long periods of time. More 'trivia' problems.
  2. An adoption agreement basically states that the rescue has full ownership of a dog. And can be returned and also reclaimed should things not work out. What reasons would you consider, to reclaim a dog?
  3. But do we have the time to let a dogs maturity show before nuetering?
  4. Considering all the possibilities from car accidents. I would say the safest way to transport a dog would be in its own seperate crate - not shared with others - securely fastened to the base of the car, with 2 doors also in case of bent cages from impact. I would think dogs travelling 'loose' in a boot are as prone to as many injuries as those travelling unsecured on a back seat. The force of impact would still be the same and will continue until something stops it, even if that something was another dog. Or what of a rear ender. And wouldnt a harness on the back seat have to have no length in it to prevent movement should there be a crash? I have trained my dogs not to jump out until told, but Im not sure how this would hold up in the noise, panic and fright of say, a collision on the motorway. Especially, if for some reason, I couldnt get out of the car myself. I loathe to see little dogs on the parcel shelf in cars - now that sends shivers. In conclusion I think theres pros and cons to every way - but until then - Alicia, any chance of a lift? I wish everyone safe and easy travelling. xxx

  6. Just entering into the wierd and wonderful land of the showring with our Borzoi girlie. We have been warned that nuetering before her coat is fully 'in' will result in a thin and below standard coat. But also, being a giant breed, she isnt expected to stop growing until about 18 months old. Our latest little foster, aka fluffball, is only 5 months old, but is humping everything relentlessly and is booked to be nuetered next week.
  7. I dont drive myself, but when with friends - taking dogs to walks, transport runs, the dogs are in the back of the car (seats folded down) with a centre gaurd to prevent them coming through to the drivers seat.
  8. Dolly is just beautiful and Im sure she wont be waiting for very long
  9. I was reading this in the KC paper last week. Its fascinating. Isnt it only something like 6 generations for a crossbreed to be 'outbred'? So a rottie (for example) could have been in the bloodline a fair way back, but throws a pup of rottie colouring. Something like a first generation labradoodle shows as a full lab 5 generations down but could still deliver a curly pup?
  10. I hope God is smiling down on them today. What a heart. xxx
  11. I have to disagree. This pair of dogs could have been interacting repeatedly before this incidence without any confrontation or problems at all. Friends turn into foes so quickly, and then to friends again. Its impossible to know what could have set these 2 off. For all we know these 2 dogs have been happily kenneled together with no problems. They could well be back in their kennel together as we speak. Considering the exageration of the staffy to a pitbull and flesh hanging becoming a torn muscle - it appears to me that the whole article is grossly exagerated to the point losing all credability. Its unfortunate that some (just from reading the comments to it) believe the exagerations
  12. Would love to come How far oop north does everyone want to go? Yorkshire?? Beck hole is fully wheel chair friendly. Or theres Hollingworth lake at Rochdale? Haigh Hall in Wigan. Formy Beach - but thats no good at all for wheelchairs.
  13. I dont think the fact that it was RSPCA workers walking the dogs makes much difference. Any one with dogs that socialises with other dogs knows that 2 dogs that were best of friends ten minutes ago can suddenly change. Who knows what set these 2 off? Tomorrow, they could do the whole walk again with out a single problem. Its just one of those unfortunate things.
  14. You are all in our thoughts this evening. Aswan is such a beautiful girl.
  15. Just like to add - Charlie is looking for a new home. Please find more details in the private rehoming section
  16. Such stupid comments about a ridiculous article. 2+2 really does make 5
  17. Today we took Charlie, Lucy, Penny and Mickey out for a romp before the cold came down. Heading out. Fly like the wind. Lucy and Charlie discuss the merits of this walk. Lucy shows him swimming. Charlie tries swimming but isnt very keen  He decides watching is best. Penny is old and wise and stays away from the waters edge. At home and tired and looking for somewhere to sleep. Does this dog bed come in large? Where ever I lay my bum??
  18. Healing thoughts for Aswan. And some for you and your family too Alicia. xx
