Fatal accident on the A47

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the A47 in Glaston.

The collision happened at about 2.20pm yesterday afternoon in Morcott Road in Glaston, along the A47..

It involved two vehicles, a red Peugeot 106 and a black Kia Sedona.

A 21-year-old, Jack Lowe, from Wigston, the driver of the Peugeot, received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger of the Peugeot, 21-year-old Carly Brown from Leicester, received life threatening injuries and was taken to the Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry, where she was later pronounced dead.

The passenger of the Kia received minor injuries and was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary. She has since been discharged. The driver did not receive any injuries.

Detective Constable Seamus Burns, the officer investigating the incident, said: "The Peugeot was travelling towards Leicester and the Kia was travelling in the opposite direction when the collision happened.

"We would like anyone who may have any information about the collision or who may have seen either of the vehicles prior to the collision to call us as soon as they can."

* The driver of the Kia has also appealed for help as he seeks to find one of his dogs, which escaped from his vehicle following the accident.

His missing dog is a black and white King Charles spaniel.
