Huggable Holly - Sweet 12 Year Old Yellow Lab

holly-crop21-209x300.jpg Poor Holly was very sad and frightened when she arrived at her Oldies Club foster home in Essex. Sadly, her beloved owners had both passed away within three weeks of one another and Holly couldn’t understand what had happened to her life. She’s a 12 year old Labrador and had lived with her late owners since she was a tiny pup so you can imagine her distress at being left alone. She carried her dad’s slipper with her for comfort.

However, after a few days she settled down really well in her foster home, helped by the two elderly dogs in residence. She’s rapidly proving herself to be a very loving and amusing dog who is interested in everything. She loves to play with her toys and enjoys her walks. For a dog of her age she is fairly fit and has short bursts of energy followed by peaceful naps on her bed. She loves her food but is currently on a diet as she needs to lose a few kilos to regain her waistline.

Holly has been very well trained and is really easy to look after. She’s very domesticated, polite and perfectly clean in the house. She shares happily with the other dogs and joins in whatever is going on. She’s a little shy when she first meets strangers but soon relaxes and asks for cuddles and ear rubs. Her fosterers say that she is a delight - sweet natured, loving and obedient.

Sweet Holly would be an ideal companion for a family, a couple or a single person. She will be happy to love anyone who is kind and loving to her. She’s fine with other dogs once they are introduced to her although she would prefer them not to be much bigger than her and not too lively as she is an elderly lady who likes her peace and quiet. She’d be fine with children, preferably older sensible children who understand the needs of an older dog. She seems to ignore cats but could be cat tested in necessary. She’s good in the car and doesn’t mind being left for a reasonable amount of time, especially if she has another dog for company.

Holly has been vet checked and appears to have no health problems apart from mild arthritis in her hips for which she has a low dose of Rimadyl to keep her comfortable and mobile. She is microchipped, vaccinated and has been worm and flea treated. Holly is neutered.
