Tzumit
I met a lovely doglet today who has been used as a breeding machine (just guessing here really) her latest litter having been rehomed a few weeks ago. She has saggy boobs and has started a season. No-one really knows how long ago she had the pups or how old they were when rehomed, and having experienced dogs with Pyometra I am concerned that this dog may be in trouble. She is not very swollen and there is definately blood and a small amount of discharge. She has been vet checked and is on antibiotics. I thought the next season came around 5 to 6 months after whelping in a healthy dog, but I am not sure. Your thoughts on this would be appreciated. blackmagic
From what I have read the seasons continue in the same manner regardless of pregnancy. If she normally had a six month gap, then her next season would be six months from the last one. If she has been given antibiotics, that would indicate an infection had been diagnosed. I would suspect open pyometra, with the infection draining out.
Rumpole
yep seasons carry on regardless so a six month season bitch would spend nine weeks pregnant and eight weeks usually with the pups meaning that she would be due for season approx 9 weeks after pups leave
