Deefer is a handsome 13 year old Collie X who came into the care of the Oldies Club rescue when his owner had to move into accommodation where dogs aren’t allowed. Deefer is in an Oldies Club foster home in Milton Keynes.

Deefer is a very obedient boy who is in good condition for his age. He settled into his foster home straight away with no problems. He is fine with other dogs and he is clean in the house - he barks if he needs to go out. He can manage stairs without problems. His previous owner told us that he is good with cats too, but we don’t know this for certain.

Deefer is happy with a steady 20 minute walk, although he does love to play ball for the first 5 minutes of his walk - he barks with excitement - then after that he is happy to just walk along with you. He pulls on the lead at first when he is excited, but he is so well behaved that he can be off-lead most of the time.

His foster mum tells us “We cannot fault this lovely boy - he is a dream. He is not destructive or noisy when left, would be OK with or without a doggy companion, as long as there is plenty of TLC available. He has met the grandchildren and is fine with them. He also travels well in the car.â€

Doesn’t Deefer sound fabulous!

Deefer is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and flea- and worm-treated. He arrived with a wart on his bottom eyelid that, on veterinary advice, has been removed. The vet doesn’t think the wart was anything nasty but advised its removal as it would have been uncomfortable for Deefer.

He has a couple of fatty lumps that need no treatment. His back legs seemed quite stiff when he first arrived with us but his foster mum has gradually built up his exercise and he is doing well. Despite looking slightly chunky in his photos, the vet has said that Deefer is not overweight - he just has a broad chest from whatever cross he has in his breeding!

If you would like to find out more about Deefer, please refer to our Adoption Procedures for information about the adoption process. You can then contact an Oldies Club rehoming co-ordinator as follows:

Email: [email protected]

Telephone: 0844 586 8656

Deefer can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, subject to a satisfactory home visit, but please note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to meet him.

If you would love to offer a home to an oldie like Deefer but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor one of the special oldies we are caring for that are not well enough to be rehomed.
