nouggatti
If this is any help at all, I have a painting which is oil on canvas which we were advised not to hang facing a window as sunlight would cause it to fade. HTH
yena
Might be worth having a word with a picture-framer, and see if you can get a glass that would stop fading . But, I'd personally would hang it away from direct sunlight
Ruthi (borrowadog)
Definitely hang away from direct sunlight. In fact the darker the corner the better. No matter how good the dyes, they all fade in time. And in fact light will rot the fibres as well, albeit very slowly. Its no accident that all the embroidery in the V & A is kept in drawers! Jacobean
As we're talking cross-stitch. I've got one that's half complete and been left for years. It's probably a bit dusty right now. How can you give them a clean up?

How can you give them a clean up? I usually wash mine in hand hot water with some washing up liquid, hasn't done them any harm yet.

BilRed
There is a special glass framers use to protect against UV damage, it is a little more expensive than normal glass, it will help but still best not to hang in bright light.
