Fundraising Role (voluntary) For The Oldies Club - Can You Help?

As some of you are aware, I have recently adopted a rescue pup and I am currently taking some time out of the main Oldies Club fundraising role because of this :) Oldies Club is therefore looking to find someone, as soon as possible, who is able to help on the fundraising side of things in a voluntary capacity – mostly involving online work: organising competitions, helping people who want to do sponsored events to raise funds for the Oldies Club etc.

We would prefer to find someone who already has some sort of prior experience in this area (though this does not have to be experience related to rescue) or at least someone who has lots of initiative and common sense and is happy to jump in and get on with things :flowers:

Running online competitions would involve a) coming up with ideas for the competitions (bearing in mind previous, recent fundraisers); b) sourcing prizes from companies/individuals willing to donate them; c) posting full competition details and then collating the results of the competition; and d) announcing the results and ensuring prizes are sent off promptly/advising donating companies of winners' names and addresses to send prizes.

Re the sponsored events – this would mainly involve issuing a customised sponsor form (standard template available); posting about the sponsored event on the Refuge, OC website and other forums; keeping track of people offering to sponsor (setting up spreadsheet for this purpose); and d) ensuring payments are made once the event is completed/liaising with OC treasurer to this effect.

The fundraising coordinator also deals with Oldies Club sponsor dogs in terms of issuing a sponsor pack and updates, so this is something you might also asked be asked to deal with at some point - there are standard documents set up in Word for this purpose that can be adapted.

If you would like to be considered for helping the Oldies Club as per the above, are prepared to jump in and get involved straight away and can offer a regular commitment (though we do appreciate this is a voluntary role), please let me know asap. Thank you :flowers:

There are often people quite willing to help a charity but can't take on a large commitment.

Have the OC considered splitting this role down ?

For example have a fund raising coordinator who does just that. Coordinates activity. Then have separate people for the different tasks under that umbrella.

a) Sponsorship

b) events

c) online competitions

d) ...... etc

This doesn't overload any one person and then they are less likely to drop out if they have other commitments or illness for example which prevents them from temporarily continuing.

We have already split the role down :flowers: Until recently it was a fundraising and events role, which became too much for one person (me!) and so the role was split back into fundraising coordinator and events coordinator (which the lovely Kelly Peachy has taken on, with help from Kate  ). So the events side of things does not come under the role mentioned in this thread, although of course the roles will cross-over at times and we do work together :)

Hope that clarifies things :flowers:
