Abigailj
John from Greyhound Muses has asked that the link for the petition be cross posted as much as possible. Please sign and forward to as many people as you can. You may be aware that the Scottish Daily Mail has uncovered yet another case of extreme cruelty to an ex-racing Greyhound. There have been other instances in the past similar that have also been exposed by the Daily Mail and the Mail on Sunday. This one however is in my opinion one of the worst cases. You can read the article by going to my website www.greyhoundmuses.com and the click "Scottish Daily Mail article" on the left hand frame. Alternatively copy and paste www.greyhoundmuses.com/scotlandmail.htm into your browser when you have finished reading this e-mail. I was totally sickened when I read of this latest atrocity and decided to create a petition on line addressed to the UK Prime Minister and calling for an end to Greyhound racing in the UK and Northern Ireland. I realize that there have been others in the past who have submitted petitions calling for the same thing and that as yet they have not been successful. I am also not egotistical enough to think that I will succeed where they have failed, but I am asking you to support me in this by signing my petition and then passing the URL to as many friends and colleagues that you think might sympathize with our aims and so on. I know that we probably won't fully achieve our aims but I believe that if we can get a great number of signatures on our petition the people who can do something will have to listen to us. To sign my petition please go to http://www.PetitionOnline.com/3400/petition.html Just copy and paste the whole URL into your browser, and when you get there please take a few seconds to read the petition fully before adding your signature. When you have done that you will be given an opportunity to send the petition on to more people. This bit is really important. please send it to everyone in your address book whom you think will be interested and stress to them the importance of adding their name. Thank you for reading this. we need thousands of signatures to have the maximum impact. Please don't let these poor dogs down by doing nothing. Best wishes John. ReikiAnge
It would appear that the petition has indeed been closed since the thread and previous comments were posted in July. No idea why though.

No idea why though. Thanks Ange, I hope it made a difference, although from other sources I understand the problem is nowhere near resolved yet. What a pity, to have such intelligent and highly paid people in government and yet no one able to get the industry to act responsibly. I would suggest all racer owners be responsible for their dogs until natural death or resolve their rehoming themselves in the UK, in a regulated manner overseen by Animal Welfare Organisations and monitored yearly. Simple, effective and will make the right group of people more responsible; perhaps they will think twice before killing or PTSing again. Oh yes, in my dream world, they get 5-10 for killing a dog, and at lest 5 for negligence in its upkeep (no excuse of dognapping and finding retired greys killed thereafter!!!). Even a dissappeared grey would merit investigation and if negligence was detected, lock-em in...With no possibility of parole. No ifs ands or buts. There, I vented!
