Having been sort off off for a while due to the OH having some rather major surgery I have just been catching up on things. Golly, things have been happening, Loki's tooth, Rolo's legs and Kane's (whisper) willy! :blush02: Poor Wanda has been a bit left out of thingswith the OH's problems, of course YO Sam has looked after her for me but in my absence she has turned into a TART! Monty, the 34" shetland was gelded at 9 years old, just before Sam got him but unfortunately no-one told Monty. He had been up to no good with Tilly the Filly and then was having a stroll round the yard when Wandalust spotted him, she manage to position him on the ramp leading up to the muck heap, neatly at the side of her turnout area and stuck her bum over the fence and committed unmentionable acts to get Monty's attention. Monty then obliged and buried his head in her girly bits and Wanda had such a silly grin on her face, pony porn is rampant on the yard, spring must be in the air. I didn't know Wanda could be such a slut! I must have a serious talk with her tomorrow, what a rude horse!

psml @ wanda

hope your o/h is ok :flowers:

Poor loki bless him - lots of healing thoughts sent his way :GroupHug:

Jacky- we had loads and loads of midges last weekend when it was warm - the horses were starting to get bothered by them. For the sweet itch horses we put garlic in their feeds, and some other supplement for itchig (sorry not helpful at all i cant for the life of me remember the name) and then it could be something similar to coopers that we use - its diluted anyway and put on with a sponge!!!

One of our shire horses a while ago decided whilst she had a beginner riding on her, that a bit of yogurt spilt on the floor was scarey enough to fling herself in an almighty jump over it

ooo got another pic of one of the horses at work - this is digby who is newish about 13.2hh cob and i took out on the intermediate ride the other day. Its the first and last time i think he will go out on it!! he was so lazy, not picking his feet up and nearly sending me flying on several occasions esp when he tripped over a stone in trot and then proceeded to skid in the mud - we were inches from the floor! After that I had to swap horses with the back up rider as we wouldnt have made it home in time with him in the lead  Bless him - hes just not got much in the brains dept

:GroupHug: Oh Clare. Poor Poor Loki - he really is in the wars lately isn't he?

Never mind, at least he will be sorted in time for the warm weather. :)

Interesting about NFU - I think I posted earlier that I have been with them for years, but was seriously unimpressed over the palaver I had when trying to get Rolo insured - it took the best part of 2 months to get it finally sorted. Thinking of moving to KBIS when he is up for renewal.

Rolo was a little s*d last night - I may now be able to brush his legs with gay abandon, but trying to put a wet (with warm water!) sponge on them was clearly life threatenign. You would have sworn it was acid. Think he has feather mites again so wanted to give them a good go with insecticidal shampoo - I gaev up in the end - he currently has 2 clean legs and 2 dirty ones. He will have to cope with the mites! I will try agin with just a spong and water tonight, then tomorrow, then the day after, then the day after that, then ...........

I was heaard muttering under my breath last night "Why did I have to get a horse with so many issues!!" :)

I tied him up somewhere different last night - level ground where it was easier to look at him - I think he has grown! Think he is bigger than 14.2 now - or that could have been that he was seriously stressed out over being tied up somewhere different! He is such a plonker sometimes!

Big (gentle) hug to Loki

Dont waste time with wet sponges because if you are getting mud off as well it will cause a mud fever infection bt wetting the skin. For mites just get an Ivermectin wormer or a bottle of cattle spot on and you will have no more problems.

Shhhh. You might give Kai some ideas with her new man!!

Had a lesson this morning, which went well once I managed to calm Kai down. She did her first double of fences at the end as well!!!

I also got my instructor to have a quick nose at Trigger. He has rubbed himself raw in places - before I got him, and I thought his feet were in poor condition, but wasn't sure if it was me being paranoid. They look like they have been recently been trimed, which fits in with their explaination of 2 weeks before we got him. His toes are a perfect shape from the front, but they are far too long and his causing feet to look like he is wearng slippers and rocking right back on them. I'm glad its not just me over reacting, but going to take a lot of work to get them right. Poor old pony, its is so frustrating when people don't bother learning about the animals and they end up like him. He is happier now I've cut the mats from his coat, bless him. I have managed to catch him a few times and he s only getting feed adn treats from my hand. He has had one quick brush, but only the dry bits!!

Yesterday was absolutely beautiful here. It was very busy at work due to school holidays but there was a lots of staff in so got to do the nice jobs making a fuss of the horses. In the afternoon i washed nibbles tail (our smallest mini shettie) - was quite minging but looked lovely after - guarentee by the time he comes in tomorrow it will be filthy again! Then i washed baileys tail (hes a 14hh coloured cob with the worst conformation in the world, a moustache and not the most handsome on the yard!) I spent over an hour washing his tail, brushing his feathers out and brushing his mane (with the help of baby oil!). It was so warm that i was in my vest top and jeans. By 5pm it was still too warm for rugs so the old few got rugs then the others went out without. Let bailey off and the others all followed him round seemingly marvelling at his dazzelling white tail!!!

Think they'll enjoy their day off today sunbathing without their rugs :)

Any other weekend news? (or pics jacky? :D)

Had a lovely weekend. Sorry forgot my camera!!! :flowers: :flowers: :flowers: Rode out with Helen on Sat and had a great fast ride! Danny and Kane were fantastic (and went passed the donkey farm with only a little persuasion!!)

Went out yesterday...  Caroline (Cackie on here) came for a walk with the dogs and then a ride. She had bought her friend son Matt, so I said he could have a ride on Danny on the way home. Had a fantastic collected canter on the beach, Kane was extreamly responsive!! So Matt got on Danny, and Caroline rode Kane! All was going very well, until I had to stop and pull my socks up...Kane didn't want to stop so decided that he was off! Tell you what I was absolutely terrified..theres nothing like seeing your horse bolting with your friend!!!!! I quickly got poor Matt off Danny and we ran after her! Luckily she hadn't met any traffic...and managed to pull him up, and even turn him and make him come back towards us (something I've never got him to do...actually I usually jump straight off cos he scared the cra* out of me!!! ). I shouted 'OMG are you alright.' .. Cool as a cucumber Caroline was yeah fine that was nothing!!! The only thing is....at least I know that it isn't just me he takes the pi*s out of!!!

Phoenix that cob is stunning!! Shame he's not abit bigger and I'd swop him for Kane..you'd get a quick ride with him!!!

oh no - poor loki, thats not good :GroupHug: hope hes feeling better soon :flowers:

theres nothing worse than seeing someones horse take off and you knowing theres nothing you can do. - must actually be worse being your own horse :GroupHug: thank god she didnt mind :flowers:

oo and took Lola on the intermediate ride on sat - shes a chestnut irish draught (sp) about 16hh and only 5 - when she came in about oct last year she had only been driven and sat on. So the managers been working with her and we can ride her now  Shes still quite green and seems to lean/wander to the right in trot but the manager says she still needs to build up muscle and that pulling the carriage over christmas wont have helped her. Anyway i took her out and the little girl i took out was on annie - a little fell pony. We started off trotting and everything was fine. When it was time to go back annie decided it was time for something to eat. The girl couldnt pull her out of the grass and annie kept moving further away - i didnt really want to get off lola as she doesnt normally stand to let you back on, but i had to. so got off and pulled annie out but as soon as i got back on, annie made a bee line for the grass again. Little girl at this point was crying and wanted to get off so i got off again and pulled her out and led her for a while. We were still quite far from home and i had no lead rope to do a ride and lead so undid the nose bit on annies headcollar, unclipped the handle on her saddle (like a filletstring with clips both end), clipped that onto the headcollar, took lolas headcollar off, attached it to the filletstring thing and managed to get back on whilst holding onto annie and we set off back!!! Lola was a little star, shes never done a ride and lead and totally ignored annie whilst she pulled faces at her etc. very proud of her

Nott is looking like an old fur rug with the moth at the minute, rugs are off and she has come out of the winter looking fat and shiny.

It is also her birthday - so:

Happy 19th Birthday Nottie

:cheer: :partytime: :cheer:

Beautiful Cueva has grown up and matured over the winter - she is developing a really lovely Spanish look and has a beautifully arched neck. She has stopped being bonkers as the haylage is not being fed and she is back to her placid, calm self. Who wold have thought pickled grass could have such an effect. She is 6 very soon (26th April)

Photos soon, promise!

Clare - so sorry about Loki, I replied on the NR thread. You really could not have done anymore for him and he is looking so magnificent too. :GroupHug:

Looking forward to seeing the pictures!!

Took Minski out for her second ride since her fall. She is obviously still suffering as she did her usual spin sidways up the bridle way and the field. I ended up with my leg almost on her bum trying to keep her stright, she is such a money!!

Took Kai out with my friend and her son on their horses yesterday. She wasn't happy about leaving her new man and we had a few moments on the ride but she did a lovely canter up the bridle path behind the other two. Then I schooled her this morning, she is a bit of a tank when you first get on but once she is working correctly she is very light. I even managed to totally give her the reign and she stayed balanced all on her own in the same shape, cleaver pony. For the first time I have measured Kai on the road instead of in the field, 17hh, opse and she no longer fits a full size head collar so we have been shopping!!

I am heading off to had a go at getting her in the horse box. She had her first drive out in it last weekend with Minski. She was a bit stressed and sweaty when she get out but she was fine. She even put herself back in the box once we had got her out. The only problem is actully getting her out the box, she shot out and landed on the ramp once which gave her a fright. So this will be her first time in it without Minski. Got everything crossed!
