  1. Thankyou so much!!! He is definitely up for working in terms of tracking and nosework if that helps?
  2. thanks all - dog is in North Yorkshire. Challenge is the owners do not want dog to go into kennels as such so we were hoping to find a home via a rescue if that makes sense? Will be speaking to them again soon and check the situation cheers Morag
  3. Bumpity bump - having no luck at all with any of my contacts and one of the smaller rescues has been very honest in explaining that if a dog has bitten in any way they can't risk taking it on So anyone with contacts I can borrow please post here! x Mog
  4. Our local RSPCA branch is full to the brim and I've had more calls than usual in the last month, I'm not even a rescue rep of any kind, just a trainer!
  5. All purchased and ready to post, but ran out of wrapping paper last night! Will be done tonight and posted on Wednesday
  6. Sending you lots of good thoughts Gooster Even though I knew my gran dying was the best thing to give her peace (and her dementia stole her years ago) it was incredibly emotional. Remember we're here for you if you need us I was all ready to wrap about half my pressies including SS last night, and then realised I've managed to use up every single scrap of wrapping paper including the bits I save to use on the dog presents Will have to buy more today!
  7. oooh - I did almost all my Xmas shopping via Easyfundraising-money-for-nothing
  8. hello peeps - have actually done most of my Xmas shopping (thank goodness for the internets) and will be wrapping and posting my secret santas tonight!
  9. CONFIRMED: Lennox hearing adjourned until 1st Feb 2011.
  10. Looks like the Lennox case has been postponed again until Feb 2011 (more info here website)
  11. morning all - its very cold in York (at work in fleece + thermals + gloves + hat!) but our snow is sad and mostly yellow
  12. Back from the vets with Finn - we think his back and spine are playing up again so he's in more discomfort which combined with the cold has just set it all off poor lad is to stay wrapped up warm, get massage and stretching exercises and a dose of his usual remedy with some metacalm as a backup. Most likely there is some disc degeneration and protrusion but not much point running more tests at the moment. Hopefully he'll be back to his usual self soon. RMjigsawFL: I have finished a 1000 piece panorama from Lord of the Rings and now doing a penguins in the snow one again - sent me mad last time though because it only has two shapes of pieces so you have to go almost entirely by colour and shading
  13. I have rediscovered jigsaws in an effort to have more chill-out time in the evenings
  14. Taking the big lad Finn to the vet later on - hopefully nothing serious but he's just not quite right and has been soo shivery despite lots of running around and wearing a fleecey jacket...
  15. Its stopped snowing in York....for now! RMF: this morning I have dug paths for two elderly neighbours, hope the karma keeps till I need the same doing!
  16. me too *fingers crossed* It was when he said that they have destroyed 6 hounds with similar issues that it became clear that they see resource guarding as unworkable and because the dog *might* bite a child therefore cannot risk the reputation of the rescue so advise PTS. I've already had to give advice that contributed to a dog being put to sleep earlier this year, I'll be damned if its going to happen again
  17. let me know your list and I'll sort out packing them up - its like Xmas come early Any donation to Wiccs would be fab
  18. I am sad. Sad that so many of the 'breed' rescues advise being firm and leader of the pack with your dog, that all of these breeds require different methods, that one has told me bluntly that society and its preference for treats and positive methods makes it difficult to find the right people for these dogs. And sad that there is a refusal to take on or help home a dog who has nipped - not bitten but nipped in the past. The family will keep him as long as they can, and I will tell them that the rescue can't help. What I won't tell them is the advice to have this lovely 2 year old dog put to sleep. Or that its their fault for not being firm enough with the dog.
  19. Hello all - a quick post as I am looking for any rescues who may be able to help with the rehoming of a Basset Hound who has some resource guarding issues. I have contacted Basset Welfare but unfortunately they are not able to help. This is a very smart dog, 2 years old and keen to work at anything! He has benefited and improved with a good training programme but the family is unable to continue the work. Situation is not urgent as they will keep him as long as necessary but we do need to look for alternatives. thanks very much Morag
  20. We have lots and lots of snow! So much that the drainage pipe from my bath froze last night

  22. steadily snowing in York all morning
  23. oh my word how incredibly gorgeous is he! Bet they will be queuing up to cuddle him
