  1. Yes a cable tie which can be bought in most DIY or computer shops
  2. Some people think so for show or working conditions. But you could on those grounds argue what is good for the goose is good for the gander! What do you think .... and no this isn't one of those interminable debate threads, I am simply asking you to look and see! No I didn't think you would agree! And yet this is 2007, and obviously the practice still goes on . This little boy was found wandering along a road in warrington today along with another dog (possibly father) whose story follows at the end of this! Only a few months old he was found too late and his tail is already dead and waiting to fall off. Of course this won't happen, we will have it amputated later today or tomorrow A lovely couple found the two dogs walking with chains dragging behind and caught them and after trying to rouse RSPCA, Dog Warden, Police and various others finally managed to find their way to our vets and they came into the care of WAW. The older of the two dogs has demodex mange (sp), But that isn't all. Attached to his foot, through the skin is a fish hook. The picture here doesn't show the weight etc which was attached to it at the time he was found as this could easily be removed. But it does show the chain . Here is his foot with hook still intact! He will have this removed tomorrow and be neutered at the same time. He will then begin treatment on the mange. Please wish the two of them well. Neither are above a year old

  4. Claire I am exactly the same as you, and we are now producing a sheet which goes out with all dogs which specifically says do not feed foods high in colour content such as Bakers!

Hmmmm Did I guarantee small feet???? I predict the dog will remain the same size and the feet will continue to grow dispropotionately to the body ... so you will have small dog with HUGE feet
  6. No we have been in touch with owner.
  7. Thanks Claire, local kennels took her in for me .. they have very secure isolation block where she is currently trying to chill! GAP have offered her rescue place because Lisa has known of her for some time. Here she is .. little minx ... as you can see looks well covered, local Chicken Farmer isn't so happy about that!
  8. I have just had Gilbert the ancient poodle i am looking after neutered, had to be done as he had double testicular cancer, and he didn't even bat an eyelid after the op!
  9. There is a greyhound living loose, been loose since December, and now moved into Warrington area. We have found her tonight and think we know where she is bedding up. We have plans for trapping her overnight if that is where she is sleeping and need volunteers for morning to help catch her in large barn. If you are near and have any free time in morning please ring me now. 07812137177
  10. Awww how sweet As he is still a puppy you should try to distract him immediately he does his poo with something really tasty .. so he no longer thinks about eating it
  11. Very cute ... but a bundle of fun I imagine
  12. So very very sad for you ... so glad for him that you had strength to do the right thing by him in the end

Lovely to see him .. but not sure exactly what you mean by as with all these dogs???? On the nipping, his brother is exactly the same .. looks to be some terrier in there to me! If you have big problems give me a ring and our behaviourist will get in touch with you, however as others have said you should walk away when he begins and ignore him .. he will soon associate the words no or ah ah and your ignoring him with his own behaviour. Alternatively Richard is very much into distraction techniques and introducing something more acceptable to nibble on immediately to take away from his facisination in you. Keep the pictures coming I am sure the camera is just bowled over by his beauty. ps his little brother went off to a new home yesterday
  14. Lovely to see three sets of Warrington Oldies ...all of whom were given that aging drug to make them seem older than they were, while their respective owners were hypnotised via web pages to offer them a home Lesley was so pleased with the news on his health last night .. Jacki Cooper could have left you and you know it .. you just wimped out totally! And Margaret it was a long wait for Gracie but well worth it in the end to find your home.
  15. Benny is the yorkie (affectionately known as the BBB ... Barsteward Biting Benny) and Gilbert is my foster dog a standard poodle who came to me in a dreadful state and we have been worried about his health but that seems to be improving. We dont suspect he has many years left in him but he is much stronger than when he arrived
  16. It is a miracle .. Benny never goes near foster dogs .. if anything he bites them and snaps but Gilbert and he have become pretty good friends of late! Benny even deigned to give him a kiss the other night! For those of you who have asked after him, Gilbert is doing really well. He is putting on weight every day and even I can see a difference in him now. He is still very weak and wonky on his back legs, which vet thinks is as a result of compressed disks (looks like a puppet being held badly by the puppetier ) But he is happy and relatively speaking healthy so we must not complain
  17. Soooooooo........ where are they!
  18. Well we are all waiting patiently for the news
  19. First picture looks like some sort of shark or fish!
  20. He has already seen a vet, WAW would NEVER have a dog in their care which did not visit the vets immediately for a check over and in his case the treatment he badly needed. Congratulations
  21. Terrible thing to happen to them I am glad there are good humans out here too but it does make you wonder about those capable of such things
  22. Hi, sorry for delay in update (work does get in the way of things doesn't it!) At the vets this morning we discovered that Gilbert had put on 1.5kg in weight which was great news. Seeing him every day it is difficult to judge and he still feels like a sekelaton! Because he is gaining weight the vet feels he can rule out cancer, but he has had tests for Addisons just in case. His heart we know is irregular so no point in giving him sedation to xray him today. Given his weight gain I am now more hopeful for him, and there is even more good news. An older lady who loves poodles is keen to be considered for a home for him, so we are staying in touch over next week to see what the vet says and for him to have his neutering op to remove the cancer and if that goes well I will take him down to meet her
