  1. FFS that's disgraceful. Nice lunch yesterday! Thank you! I've been to London today with friends. One of them works there and knows lots of interesting places but little known places to visit. We also went to Borough Market - lots of v yummy food, Millenium Bridge, St Pauls. I'm absolutely pooped now. No stamina these days!
  2. Thank you for the birthday wishes. The cold from Hell struck on Sunday and I've been holed up in bed for 2 days feeling not only v sorry for myself but old too.
  3. I'm emerging from a very long period of lurking to suggest that maybe he would write down how he's feeling. Text or email? Hope you find out soon and can help him.
  4. so sorry to hear such tough news for you and your mum
  5. I didn't get on well with my Mum, she was hypercritical and belittled me at every opportunity. I looked after both parents as Dad was ill with kidney failure and she had bad arthritis but in her eyes, I couldn't do anything right. Eventually she had to have residential care because she developed dementia and was wandering outside, didn't know day from night, wasn't eating and became aggressive. I felt dreadful guilt from the day she went into the home until the day she died. That was over two years ago and I'm nowhere near over her death but it's getting easier. Alicia, don't be surprised or shocked about how you feel. Just go with it and try not to fight it. It does get better but time is the only real healer.
  6. So sorry to hear your sad news :GroupHug:
  7. So sorry about your Mum. This is the link for the distance healing network. http://www.the-dhn.com/ If you go to the site there is a form to fill in with your Mum's name and location etc. If you don't feel up to filling it in, I'd be happy to do it for you. :GroupHug:
  8. For a minute there I thought you meant the boots! When my daughter was 17 she didn't wear any other footwear whatever else she was wearing, skirts ( very mini with black tights), dresses, trousers, jeans etc.... Then. I realised you meant the v nice Martin Clunes! DUH!!

  11. There must be something special about your future daughter in law for your son to love her and want to marry her. I have one son in law and one daughter in law and love both of them. Hope that helps! hope you all have a wonderful day!
  12. hey , that's a coincidence! I've been out with someone lovely too and it's cheered me up no end!
  13. A school dinner recipe from the dim and distant past: boil some spuds until just soft. Cut into rough pieces - about walnut size. Fry an onion until just soft. Grate some cheese - something with a bit of taste like strongish cheddar is good ("some" is an interesting measurement - meaning not to much and not too little ) Grease a deepish oven proof dish layer the potatoes, onion and grated cheese into it finishing with a layer of potato. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Beat an egg and pour it over the layers. Bake in a medium to hot oven until lighly browned. Goes well with tinned tomatoes for some strange reason or beans or anything you fancy really. Hope that uses up some spuds.
  14. Thank you for supportive words. I'm really touched. To all
  15. Apparently the stain removers that you can get to use with the carpet cleaners you can hire from places like Homebase are very good. Might be worth a try. Still lurking and not coping with keeping up with everything and everyone. I'm down a big black hole of my own making at the moment. :-((
  16. I'll send him a little thought as I drive by. Poor thing must be soaked, we've had so many heavy showers here.
  17. I wonder if Pingu is at Sonisphere (Knebworth). I live over 3 miles away and can hear it from here!
  18. Ooooh, mediums fascinate me! Are you going alone or to a group reading? I went to see one locally who told people he could see their dogs who had "passed".
  19. Just dropped a pen down the side of the sofa and made the mistake of shoving my hand down the side of the cushions to get it.. Yuk! Found the evidence that my grandson hadn't drunk all of the juice I gave him, an awful lot of it is stuck to the inside arm of the sofa and side of the cushion.
  20. Just back from seeing Jools Holland at Kenwood House. It was a fantastic feel good show. Everybody was up and dancing. He should be on prescription.
