Merseyside Veterinary Ambulance
StaffieLover replied to mersey pet amb's topic in The Place to Start
Welcome to The Refuge and a very Merry Christmas Marie and everyone involved with Merseyside Vet Ambulance - As Marion said, what a fantastic service you offer. Lynn from Dahn Sarf but an honorary scouser on my Dad's side! -
Excellent site - thanks for sharing it - am listening to stuff from the year of my birth (vintage 47 years ago too!) and it's making me a bit as I can remember my mum and dad playing some of the songs when I was little. Good memories though, just miss them heaps, especially at this time of year. Lynn xxx

Lynn needs to develop a larger repertoire of reading vocabulary. You mean I need to progress from Janet & John?

She's beautiful Sarah, and I hope she's feeling a lot better this morning. I think it's always a good sign if they manage to eat a little. I'm keeping this pretty girl in my thoughts and hope that she has a very speedy recovery Lynn xx

Poor Deanna, a 7 year old Rottie, went to the bridge this morning. She had been spayed 3 weeks ago and was never quite right since. Val (halfwayhome) and I had agreed that I would adopt her once I had moved - but unfortunately that wasnt to be, as the vets finally opened her up today to find out why she was so unwell, and found a large tumor. To Val, a fantastic woman, whom I met when I fostered (then adopted!) Larva and whom I now have the priviledge of calling a friend - Thank you very much for giving her a chance, for taking her in from the pound and for loving her enough to try every route to make her better, she was a beautiful girl and a credit to your love and care. To my Deanna. You stole our heart when we saw you - run free and happy at the bridge, knowing that you were loved by those who met you. Lynn xxxx Edited so photo doesn't disappear off the screen - RA

I agree with the majority here. I got married at the ripe old (?) age of 18 - moved to Northern Ireland (ex husband was in the forces) - things were great until I got pregnant, then the violence started. Physical and mental... more mental than physical though, after all you dont get any marks with mental cruelty. I had been told by my parents prior to my wedding, that I shouldnt do it, because I was too young - and stupidly, because I was a know-it-all teenager, I went ahead and did it anyway. First, I stayed because I didnt want to be proved wrong about getting married in the first place - then I stayed because my self esteem had been shattered to the point whereby i didnt think I could cope alone, and that without him, I was nothing and a no-one (sound familiar?!) He left me, 7 months pregnant with his 2nd child and the eldest was just under 3 years old.. ran off with a 15 year old - best thing he could ever do. Yes, I went through the hurt stage (god only knows why) but it made me stronger and I have never allowed any man to do it again. Older and wiser perhaps, stronger definitely - but I can sympathise with any woman who has found themselves in a position of being abused and being unable (for whatever reason) to walk away then and there. Its very easy to sit in judgement and say "why dont you leave him then" - but if you have been worn down to the bone emotionally, where do you get the strength to walk away? for all who have been through it and come out the other side... and to those who are still there - there's light at the end of the tunnel and there's plenty here that'll help you to get there.
