  1. Yes but i didnt like it. It slipped up and down on Brams chest because the chest bit is too stiff and rubbed alot even though hes a thick coated collie.
  2. For all of ten seconds Baz stopped trying to hump/chase/chew on Poppy and she allowed him to stand next to her and pose - not lured at all! Dont they make a lovely couple

    My Pack

I bought a new throw to cuddle up on the sofa in winter, however i dont think im going to get much use out of it as when i put it on the sofa everyone had to have a quick test and Baz and Dex had to be removed from under it Bramble with his usual smirk when he nicks my spot on the sofa Ashie looking very unimpressed with the camera Poppy looking abit unsure, bless her Hebe giving paw Dexter planning his next norty adventure Basil pretending hes a nice quite boy HA
  4. Im afraid im quite selfish and if it came to it we would live in a tent before i even considered giving anyone up. Insurance is very hard to cover FOR 6 dogs and food is too but thats because i choose to find them an expensive food, i have added cheaper to it and we now shop in Morrisons and buy up all the oops and cheap meat and freeze it. I dont go out, i rarely drink, i dont smoke, the dogs have got me through many hard times and i couldnt just give up on them. If i didnt have them im sure i would be rich in money but not in soul!
  5. Baz (lurcher) chewed Poppys collar off and Hebe used to be able to undo Bram, Ash and Poppys as a pup. Abit of stinky stuff on them worked a treat
  6. Im sure alot of you know the dangers of Xylitol but for those that dont i thought it worth a mention after our "adventure" with Baz today. While i was out this morning Basil ate a whole pack of sugar free chewing gum, for anyone that doesnt know the main sweetner in it is xylitol which can kill a dog. I knew it was bad and quite dangerous but i had no idea just how bad it was until today. I called my own vet first and even he didnt realise how bad it could be, he called me back after some research and we were sent straight to the emergency vets. He and Dex (the other walking dustbin) both had to be forced to vomit to check who had eaten what - ofcourse Baz had eaten the entire pack himself. Apparently 2 bits of gum can put a 10kg dog into severe hypoglycemic shock for 4 days and Baz (17kg) had eaten 14 pieces. He spent the whole day in the vets having his blood sugar level carefully monitered. Quite amazingly his sugar levels stayed stable (abit low though) all day and he didnt go into shock. The vets think it was our quick action, his already full tummy and him swallowing them and not chewing so not helping the xylitol get into his system so quickly. Hes still not out of the woods and they can go into shock with low doses up to 12 hours after ingestion and he has to have a blood test to check his liver functions on Monday. Ive since done some research and learnt that some dogs can go into shock within minutes of eating it, and the scary thing found that because it is better for human teeth than most it is being put in more and more food items including toothpaste and the like. And i remember last year seeing it in dog treats!!! Although i havnt seen that brand since. We are very very lucky but it could have gone the other way quite easily. The silly boy himself
  7. My mother died of cancer related complications. She was a nurse, heavily involved in cat rescue and so ive been told (i was 3 when she passed) an exceptionally lovely lady. She got no special recognition in the papers or stupid amounts of money thrown at her for a tv show (which IMO is distasteful) and yet she did alot for myself and my sister, what else could she do? Jade is no martyr in my eyes, just a silly child who has spent the latter part of her life allowing the media to use and abuse her. Without meaning to offend, Jade to me has cheapend the severity of cancer, we dont need Brown or anyone else offering HER their condolence we dont need HER finance' being given special treatment we need the Government to get off their butts and sort out the NHS so less people suffer this horrible disase.
  8. Its not been that long since a photo fred of these guys but what the hey I took these pics yesterday, i did have back up from daddy incase they were norty but no one ran off, no one picked a fight and no one (BAZ) laid down and refused to get back up! I only consider Baz to be a real rescue out of these three but they have been through a lot in dog terms and yet they keep on smiling and they keep me laughing (and crying). Hebe, still smiling even though her HD has had her in alot of pain the last few months. Oh and now shes gone and got conjunctavitis Please ignore Dex doG knows what he was doing in her bloomers The yob of the family, Dexter. Hes coming along nicely and after only a year (snort) im actually considering proper agility classes for him. Baby Baz, what more can i say? Hes no longer petrified, and look hes smiling! Its taken a fair old time for one so young to come out of his shell and some situations leave him running in terror but in this pic hes in a brand new park and had just met a brand new dog and lady (wot he liked a bit too much, i hope the mud comes out of her shirt ok ). And a random bunch of pics... I get all three together and Heebs HAS to lick her gob I love this one, it says everything about play time in my house (if only Bramble had been there to shout at everyone) "I iz sexee"
  9. Loads of good luck and healing thoughts Flora
  10. I homechecked for a lovely family, gave the rescue my suggestion and they went completly against it because it was easier for them. I helped the family as much as possible but a month later a very distressed dog was again on its way to a new family, it was the wrong dog in the wrong home but because i was new to homechecking and reasonably new to dogs (ignoring the fact im studying behaviour and train dogs for a living) i obviosly knew nothing. Its put me right off homechecking!
  11. Part of me says i will never have six again but then equally part of me knows that more will squeeze their way in. My problem is the range of dogs i have, my oldest 2 boys dont like dogs and Poppy is scared of everything which obviously restricts alot. I do go away a couple of times a year for college and last year Scotland and we take two dogs with us but its stressful - Hebe is a gem but Ash/Dex (the only two ive taken) can be a pain. We will see how Baz is if we ever make it up north, im meant to be at college bust the car has broked. I think next time i will try and stick to 2 well behaved doglets but i doubt that will happen lol
  12. A year and 2 days ago this norty little man joined our famiy. Its been a long hard year and ive cried over him and threatend to rehome home (LOTS) lol but with my fingers crossed i think i can say we have finally passed the terrible teens and hes finally calming down - as much as a terrier can. He still has some issues and he still drives me and the other dogs completely mad but we have learnt to live with it He likes to help me in the garden His first trip to the beach Weeeeeeeeeeeeee First snow Play time, with Hebe and Baz We celebrated wiv sausages and on Sunday we are going on a long walk with his "first mum", keep up the good work and we might let you stay

    The Rabble

For Billdog and anyone else who wants to swoon over the nutters lol. Bramble. Hes 8 going on 15. Hes a grumpy old git lol and has been since a year old (adopted him when he was 10months). Hes the laziest colle ive ever met and snoozes all day long, unless people are around and then hes a tart. Hes a dirty stop out but cant handle the morning after Ash. Hes 5 1/2. Hes a nervy little guy but once he knows someone he loves you for life. He loves his daddy, i get the odd snog but thats it You can see his odd eyes in this one. Poppy who is 5. Shes my pixie, shes away with the fairys at all times lol. Shes a very scaredy girl out of the house but ADORES people, she literally boings even though she has teeny legs if she meets someone new. Hebe who is 2 1/2. Shes my angel, mad as a hatter, as active as they come but sadly just been diagnosed with HD. Shes one of those one in a million dogs. Dexter who is 18months. Hes my nemesis, ive looked after him since he was 6 weeks (im a dog walker) but his mums hours got longer and he started eating her rented house. H drives everyone mad but hes just starting to turn into a nice little dog, its only taken 12 months
