  7. Treatment will take about 10 minutes, but u will have to add anaesthetic time, so I would guess about 30-45 mins total. HTH Mandy
  8. Glad it was helpful Ask them what dose of radiotherapy he is going to have and i'll be able to give a bit more of an idea about side effects. I guess his mouth might get a bit sore towards the end of the course of treatment...so soft food would probably be sensible...but I'm sure they will advise u about that when they get there. Mandy
  9. I have no experience of radiotherapy for dogs, but loads of experience of radiotherapy in general. Lymphomas respend very quickly to radiotherapy, as they tend to be extremely radio-sensitive tumours. As you say, radiotherapy won't cure a lymphoma, but can be very effective at treating specific lumps and bumps...but may need to be repeated as other lumps appear. As lymphoma is very radiosensitive, it doesn't need high doses of radiotherapy, so side effectes should be fairly minimal....at least thats how it is with humans...feel free to PM me if u need more info. BTW...at Leahurst they are lovely!!! Mandy
  10. Apologies in advance...lol Human League...Travelogue Meatloaf...Bat out of Hell Prince....1999 Anything by Ultravox Anything by the Police Guess I'm showing my age!!!
  11. I have an opinion which will probably be unpopular...but here goes The NHS is not a bottomless pit, and working in cancer services I see many people who have great need of medical treatment in a life-threatening situation. There are many other life threatening illnesses which in my opinion should always take priority over things like IVF. I have a child so don't know what it is like to desperately want a child and be unable to concieve, but realise how distressing it is for infertile couples, as I have friends in that situation. Now the unpopular bit......Bringing up a child is an expensive business from start to finish. If a couple are sooo desperate to have IVF, is it unreasonable for them to save up the necessary funds for IVF? I know it is expensive, but how does it compare to the costs incurred in a childs first years of life? I suspect that child rearing is equally as expensive. Providing that the couple are not within a year or so of the age limit for IVF, surely if they can afford to bring up a child they can afford to save for the IVF? Just my opinion
  12. I'm doing ok so far....get the odd feeling of wanting a ciggie now and again, but nothing major Maybe it helps that I have just met a new man that is possibly taking my mind off smoking!!!! Good Luck everyone....WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!!
  13. I've stopped using the Allen carr book....used it before, and manage to stop easily...doG knows why i ever started again!!! So far so good....no nicotine urges yet....I know its early days yet, but am feeling positive!!! Kathy...AC s book would say....having a ciggie would not make your toe hurt less, or your back!!!...so keep at it....and enjoy the feeling of being free from your addiction!! Mandy

Axel has just left us. Thanks for all the support over the months...but after trying everything to control his pain, we decided the kindest thing to do was to let him go painlessly and quietly. We will miss him soo much Here's a pic of him in happier days Mandy
  19. These days I'd think an MRI would be far more useful.....in humans at least myelograms are seldom done anymore?
  20. Damn...I forgot all about it I know Bryn well...he visits my place of work very regularly....I will email everyone at work to vote for him coz we lurve him(even though he's there for patients not staff!!) Sue his owner is a great lady....even though we used to call her Pat...coz that's what it says on her T-shirt!!!
  21. Instead of blaming working parents, why don't people turn it round and also look at non-working parents?....the sort that have (out of choice)never done a days work in their lives. I think that teaches children that there is no need to work hard at school so they can get a job to support themselves and their children. My son knows (and has done for a long time) that I go to work so I can provide for him and buy luxuries (now and again!) I think it's about teaching self-respect and social responsibility. I'm not having a pop at all stay at home mums....far from it...but i hope you know what I mean
  22. I work full-time and have done since my son was 3 months old. I am now divorced too. I love spending time with my son (13) and always have time to discipline him when necessary. I miss him when he's out....which is more and more often as he gets older!! He does extremely well at school, has lots of friends, always shows respect to others and is (I think) a very well adjusted young man....even with teenage hormones. I get annoyed when people (especially )politicians make sweeping statements about working/lone parents.I think it's down to the attitude of the parent(s) rather than their circumstances Not having a go at you Fran, just using your post as an example
  23. Just seen this all round Mandy
