  1. She's not an old lady She'll out run most dogs still even other pointies
  2. Thank you- just had Ray on the phone and the situation has improved a little. Problem is the Drs don't know what is wrong and why he's as ill as he is. Keep sending the good thoughts they are appreciated. xxx
  3. Thanks for all your good wishes- I've just had Ray on the phone "just about" holding it together - his Dad has been moved into ICU so it's not looking too good, but I did say that miracles can happen so I'm hoping that one does. His parents are some of the nicest people in the world and even after 50+ years of marriage are still very much in love- I'm sorry for going on and being so self absorbed.
  4. Just had Ray on the phone- he's on his way down to visit his Dad- to let me know that his Dad has taken a turn for the worse :mecry: I feel bloody useless sitting here.
  5. Marge- I'm so glad you are there for T- hope Social Services get their act together. What a despicable group of humans
  6. I'll have to go through some CDs and albums to see what I've got- she was a pre-digital pup.
  7. Because although we want to celebrate the day - it also reminds us that time is passing 11yrs today we visited Kildare Animal Foundation on our way home after a holiday in Ireland - which means it's 11yrs since I had a 12wk longdog puppy called Baby placed in my arms- we were adamant that we didn't want a puppy- we were not great home for a pup as we both worked- but somehow that 12wk old pup ended up travelling home with us via a ferry journey - were she set the scene for the rest of her life - we expected a chewed car etc. she was perfect and she still is. Happy 11th Gotcha Day Cushna - our beautiful girl - and thanks to KAF for trusting us with her.
  8. Cross-posted with permission "Sadly John Robinson (JohnRLondon) lost his fight with cancer last night, with his wife Dee by his side. John was very active in the dog rescue world, he was heavily involved in the CFIDOS campaign, the puppy love campaign and the fight against the DDA. He and his wife Dee were also very involved in the running of Rescue Remedies Dog Rescue and had fostered many dogs. Anyone who had the fortune to meet John would know that he was truely a great man. He even spoke at a council meeting regarding Puppy farm dogs recently, despite his failing health and gave his life to the plight of our nation's dogs. It is a very sad day for the rescue world."
  9. So sorry. Sleep tight Abby
  10. It does make a difference doesn't it we went to the Birchwood Carnival and Merseyside RGT are very good (although I'm not a supporter of the RGT as a whole being Anti racing)- they are very pro active - tell you the good and bad about greyhounds and each individual dog- they all really work hard. Was going to follow up that with a cheery post about going to Birchwood Carnival and our dogs in the Merseyside RGT dog show Tully got 2nd in Handsomest male and Best Rescue. Sorda got 1st in Best rescue and Susie got 1st in Best Veteran. But it feels now as I've just had my niece on the phone- my nephew was badly beaten up last night, fractured cheek bone, concussion were the few phrases that went into my stunned brain.
  11. Ray's Dad has finally his dialysis- after the fiasco yesterday, we thought it was going to be repeated today as they prepped him at 05:00 this morning - but he had his catheter fitted about 1hr ago and we've just got a text saying that it was all going ahead. Thanks to everybody for their good wishes and hugs.
  12. Had to calm Ray down after a visit to his Dad today- he (Ray's Dad) was suppose to get a catheter today and start his 1st session of Dialysis- so the didn't let him have anything to eat or drink after 20:00 (he's on restricted liquid due to his kidneys) - Ray and his brother arrive at 14:00 to find him feeling ill with a headache - no catheter and no information- finally at 16:00 the surgeon phoned the nurses station to say that it wouldn't be going ahead So that's 20hrs without food and more importantly liquid- as you can imagine both Ray and his brother are furious and there has been lots and lots of phone calls etc. I know they can't always do things to a schedule, but surely common decency should make the surgeon realise that this poor guy is struggling and really needs to be told what is happening.
  13. Must admit- although I represented one of her former victims _ never realised how much it took from you and how hard it was to deal with.
  14. Love rhododendron and camellias - growing up in Harrogate - the Valley Gardens (local park - had lots of rhododendrons). Thanks for all the good wishes- unfortunately it's my manager who's the bully - caused me to stop being a Union rep earlier in the year and she's been fully supported by HR - who have told me that I'm the only one who has a problem - ignoring the fact that I'm the 3rd person to be ill due to her treatment.
  15. Being off work - due to work related stress/bullying - I can totally understand your thoughts.
  16. He's are latest addition to our family from Greyhound Gap. Tully
  17. And unfortunately we forgot the camera :-[ He had a great time running around on the beach, but he really loved the dunes we were out for hours and guess what all the dogs are shattered We tried to use Ray's phone and if you look closely - you can just about see him

  19. Looks like Tessie was looking after you and Cliffy. It's lovely that you gave an old girl a home - her owner must have been so relieved.
  20. So sorry - it's so hard to do the right thing. Sleep tight Boo.
