  1. I've got a kindle and I love it, use it at home etc. Doesn't have a lot of the obscure fiction that I love, but I enjoy hunting for those books etc... it's great for out of copyright classics that I would never get round to reading. You can't beat a beautifully produced book though, so I'm a happy fan as both.
  2. Can I be very honest? I stopped posting as the forum became in my view very cliquey and exclusive, people were ignored in RMF and stopped posting. There also seemed to be less about rescue and dogs. When I stopped posting I lost the habit and when I looked again there didn't seem enough to capture my attention or keep me interested

    Vena

We've had very tough times recently, so I forgot that my Vena has been here for 4 years this week. SHe is the most traumatised dog I have ever dealt with, but if I had one fifth of her survival instinct I would be a millionaire. Used as dog fighting bait with her teeth cut out, survived distemper, rescued from the killing station of Cadiz, quarantined in Spain, rehomed in UK, returned to rescue as she wasn' pet enough. Languished in a rescue for 4 years where she was ignored and not given veterinary treatment. Arrived to us weeks from death like a skeleton, no hair and fly strike in her ears and back end. She really had given up She lived under our stairs for a while and only came out at night and gradually became my little shadow. The first time I saw her play my heart broke at all the robbed years. it's been a long journey, I didn't think I'd ever get her out on walks, she occasionally allows Mark to touch her, she loves him on walks and follows him. She's a real foodie, she is very playful, and sleeps next to my bed every night. SHe has us and the other dogs wound round her paw and is as loony as a box of frogs. She is still amazing us at the age of approx 11 with her ability to try new things and take on fresh challenges. I love her with all my heart. SHe has taught me to never give up

Di I am very sorry to hear about your dad, I am always in awe of people who can keep their head when things like this happen. Hope that Dex recovers quickly and continues with the fun packed life he had with you. Have been out with the dogs since 4.15, having a good walk while it was still cool on the beach. We were mugged by Little Terns, then I pulled all the dogs in the sea one by one, for a salt bath to coll them down, they are not best pleased. Loads of rabbits everywhere with my lot too lazy to chase, all very half hearted chasing, it looked they didn't want to be embaressed by not bothering incase other dogs saw them.. lol
  8. No Fat doesn't matter, although on a stomach or side it would be hard to get the skin taught, on an upper arm it wouldn't be a problem at all, it was my vanity lol, wouldn't want to be exposing my rolls lol. nipping was probably where nerve endings or ribs were hit. Upper arm is not very painful IMHO Would expect a good tattooist to be between £50 to £80 an hour, you pay for the time. Outline first, then shading , then colour over the top, depending on the size it could be all done in one session. I can cope with around 3 hours, my OH can be tattooed all day, so it depends on you really. Top of a coke can you would not be able to get much detail really, smaller tattoo = less detail. Tattoo would to a small degree shrink, it depends on the elasticity of the skin. Tattooist say it is harder to tattoo someone who has lost a lot of weight because the skin is thin and non elastic.
  9. we ought to meet up at a tattoo festival
  10. Not at all, I remeber yu saying.. I have beeen using Bepanthen 4/5 times a day and no scab at all, healed in 4 days.. Did your side hurt? not that I could have mine done I'm too fat.. I am having lower legs done old school style, anchors mermaids etc
  11. Wow another hare... Can't work out where it is Ellie?
  12. old style inks tended to go navy blue etc or they dispersed in the skin hence reds and oranges fading... newer inks keep in place better so the lines don't become as wide. Lines will spread, I have had some of mine recoloured and lines redifined, but some spreading is unavoidable. It also depends on the skill of the tattooist, he/she needs to get it into the right layer of the skin, to deep and it spreads really quickly and you get instant fuzzy line, too shallow and they colour will come out very quickly. A good tattooist will get it just right, the problem being thre are so many who are awful, tattooing from home, buying a kit of ebay and ruining peoples skin.

I'm going to set up Skype and plan to visit when he is in AUstralia after the first year. I know he will have a fab time travelling, just will worry like mad. I have a feeling that he will not come back permanently, he can earn far more as a civil engineer abroad and housing where he is looking is so much cheaper to buy...

  18. Cheese, butterbean and chutney pie with mash spuds for tea, lovely. Please send me spare hip from the body parts bank
  19. so you have the right to be rude, because rescues won't take on your dog. Probably shouldn't say this, but as you seem to be able to cope with offending people I'll do the same. Kathy you always seem to want people to do alot for you, I remember from your posts about your son's IEP, also this isn't the first or even second dog you have rehomes and I am sure won't be the last. Poor dog
  20. Some people are bleddy rude
