  1. My friends mothers westie has been fed on this rubbish for years and I have told them before they should change her to something more natural. At last they are taking heed and trying her on Burns. She does have gunky ears and terribly itchy skin which they never associated with the food.

Thanks you lot Muriel......I have checked out the things you suggested, some I had never even heard of. Anyway as far as I can see there is no-one in Northern Ireland who does McTimoney or Chorley or Ttouch or Bowen......god I hate living here sometimes Im waiting on the homeopathic vet contacting me. He had Metacam this morning (only a half dose) and hes been pretty active today. Thanks for the Reiki

Hydrotherapy is out of the question due to his heart murmur. Unfortunately he has a lot going against him the joys of old age.

The old boy as you all know is 16 and is generally in good form bearing in mind the problems he has. The meds that hes on are for..... Liver - Zentonil Heart - Vetmedin, Frusemide, Benzacare Arthritis - Serequin Anyway he hurt himself a couple of weeks back while playing with my friends Staffie pup, next day he could hardly move. Hes been to the vets and been given a cortisone injection and I give him Metacam if and when he needs it. Friday and Saturday he was fab though this morning he was awful until he got the pain relief. I know the Metacam isnt good for him with the liver problems. I have spoke to the vets about my concerns and they said its a case of doing bloods and keeping an eye on the liver. I was wondering about Milk Thistle but dont know if it should be given with other liver meds I also asked about Previcox as opposed to Metacam though the vet said they are all similar. Going to enquire about acupuncture tomorrow and have already spoke to a homeopathic vet though she felt the distance to travel with Benji for treatment might stress him too much. Hes fed Burns kibbles with tinned Chappie (used to have Hills hepatic diet but stopped eating it). If you're still following this rambling post I suppose my question is.....what would you do?
  7. Kyla will be 3 in July. She was tormented by kids where I used to live but I also think she may have been possibly mistreated by kids before I got her as a stray at 4 months old. She has wore the muzzle before and I have always given her treats whilst wearing it. Generally our walks are well away from everyone so i dont worry but it would be nice to be able to take her on any walk anywhere and not have to be constantly on the lookout for kids and having to pass them at 100 yards.
  8. Im not sure here what to do for the best Kyla is very nervous around kids and would appear quite aggressive if they run too close or are making a lot of noise. I dont have kids myself so cant get her used to being near them on a regular basis and realise that they are infact ok. So I thought it might help if we walked into the town where there are kids. Now the question is....... Do I muzzle her when walking down the town bearing in mind I know what shes like? At the minute dont walk close to the children. or Is it unfair to put her in the situation of having to muzzle her and should we just avoid being near kids altogether? I hope that makes sense
  9. They MUST get RID of the raisin........YUCK YUCK YUCK I love all of the rest of them and I always bite a tiny bit off and then have to announce which sort it is (bit mad if im by myself) I dont remember coconut ones so voted peanut which I liked. Hmmm fancy a bag now....might have to make a trip to the shop.
  10. Sorry for only updating this now but I have spoke to the owner and even though he said he would be happy for me to take the dog he wont part with it as apparently his youngest daughter would be devastated They now know im interested so if they happen to change their minds they know were I am.
  11. So sorry to hear about Cisco :GroupHug:
  12. Well the dog was no-where to be seen today.......not sure if thats a good thing or not as I have visions of it chained or closed in a shed or worse. Anyway I have the owners address and contact number which is a start. Im not keen on just taking the dog as too many people have seen him and could possibly say something. Thanks for the thoughts and advice Wiccaweys......i'll definitely let you know if I manage to get him to safety
  13. 43 views and only 2 opinions Anyway thanks for replying Rudi and Kathy I'll sleep on it and maybe i'll think clearer in the morning.
  14. Theres a real battle going on between my heart and head because of this dog and I could do with some advice. Over the last couple of weeks it has appeared outside my work and hung around with the guys in the workshop, just pottering about after them and sometimes lies and sleeps near where they work. It comes down from a farm along the road (a very busy main road which has had a lot of accidents on it). When I pop out for a smoke it comes over to me (literally crawling on its belly), its caked it muck/cow s**t and is pretty thin. I've been told the owners come and lift it but it just comes back again. Yesterday I saw from the office the guy arriving, the dog saw him and tried to hide but it was put on lead and dragged off, then grabbed by the scruff of its neck and the hair on its rump and hurled into the back of the jeep I can now see why it runs away. I guessing the owner isnt too concerned about it or he would make sure it couldnt stray but on the other hand they always come down for it. I asked our storeman today did he think they would part with it and hes gonna ask them but if they said yes......what next? I have three dogs already and dont know if...... 1. This dog is even friendly with other dogs. 2. If my lot would accept it. 3. If I could give it the home it needs (bearing in mind its a collie). 4. If its ever been in a house before (looks like it lives outside). To phone the dog warden would possibly mean it would be lifted, taken to the pound and possibly pts if not rehomed. I really dont know what to do for the best but my heart aches every time I see it So what would you do?

    Pc Experts

The laptop I got at Xmas came with 90 days Norton which expired yesterday so I renewed it. Anyway things with me and my pc are never simple and I discovered that Norton doesnt apparently support Firefox which I use I dont think I really want to go back to IE so whats my alternatives? Also it says that you shouldnt really run two firewalls at the same time so I turned the windows firewall off leaving the Norton one on......did I do the right thing? Can anyone help
  16. My friend phoned me the other day to rant that his mums dog Blossom had fleas (hes blaming her cat for bringing them into the house). Anyway Blossom had been at my house for a few days prior to this so off I went to the vets for treatment for my lot (they were slightly overdue being done). My friend treated the cat and dog and sprayed the whole house. Now even though my lot hadnt been scratching up until then they now seem to be itching and nibbling even though they were treated a few days ago. Do I need to do the house with spray too or does the treatment on them mean that any fleas that might be in the house wont survive on them now Btw I did check Lily over but couldnt see any.
  17. Sorry you havent had better news Poppy will be in my thoughts tomorrow
  18. Thanks for the links Just shows how much the bloomin vets are ripping us off
  19. Oh this is very helpful as I was just going to ask about cheaper Frontline. I paid nearly £30 for 1 treatment each for my lot, that was a small, medium and large
  20. The woman was Clare Balding, she was an amateur jockey and now presents various sporting programmes.
  21. So glad to hear he's home
  22. Generally mine follow me everywhere and they are only alone in the mornings. If im on the loo Kyla comes in and nudges the loo roll in the hope that its finished and i'll give her the empty one. Kyla also has been known to lie on the bathroom floor while im having a shower and they all go back to my bed in the morning when im getting ready for work. Lily follows me around when im hoovering so she can grab the cord as soon as its whizzing back into the hoover. If the girls are really tired and just after their walk they will just lie in the living room if im pottering about. They also like to follow me out to the garage if im putting washing on (washing machines out there) though i have been known to take them out with me if its dark
  23. So sorry it wasnt better news Still sending healing thoughts
