  1. Don't worry and don't be so hard on yourself. My girl used to bite me out of frustration in the early days of her training. With her it was definately frustration and I also got lost/disorientated on courses. Don't give up, one day it just sort of clicks and you'll both enjoy it.

    Woe Is Me

Yes, both the ticket and score sheet had the same time on them. I realise that mistakes are made and I'm not angry at all, I wouldn't have envied her job, sitting in torrential rain all day. I just think that there could be a better system as I know this has happened to a few people (not at the same show). Last winter I was about to run when the scrimer looked up and asked me if i wanted to change the name of the handler on my ticket, she queried it when I said no, as the handlers name was male. When I checked she had someone elses ticket in front of her (the guy behind me in the queue). I prefer if when they say my name before i run, at least I know then that they've got my ticket.

    Woe Is Me

At a show last weekend Bella had a lovely clear round in one of the agility courses. When I checked later she hadn't got placed, so i just assumed there were some really fast runs. My OH later checked my time and it had 52. something seconds. I knew this had to be wrong as it was a lot faster than that. Anyhow, my OH had taped the run and we timed it twice and at the most it was 30 seconds, which would have given me at least 3rd place. Clearly human error somewhere along the line but i can't help feeling a bit cheated out of a trophy.
  4. Well done, your boys are gorgeous
  5. That's the worst thing about dogs when they're having fun, they don't have the sense to stop and go "ouch". One day last week I did agility and flyball training with my girl, then went home and she had a mad half hour in the garden and knocked her leg on a wall that is only 18 inches high, some agility dog

    May Brags

I'm chuffed with my girl Bella who won grade 3 jumping at the weekend, it's all finally coming together. She was a total dream, our only problem in the other runs was poles down so I'm happy with that. She's only just turned 2 years old and is doing not bad for a little scrappy pup who the farmer was going to drown

    New To Flyball

No it's the older style box. I'm not too bothered at the moment about competing as we already compete in agility so don't really have any spare weekends. I'll remember to reward her for coming back to me . thanks
  8. I do agility with my 2 yr old collie but have never really fancied flyball. Our club has been doing beginner sessions and I thought I'd give it a shot. Last week we had her going to the box (on lead) and encouraging her to stand on the front bit (don't even know what it's called). We only did that about ten times or so, just to get her used to the box. I took her again this week and she went mental when she seen the box again, and after five minutes she was running, hitting the front pedal bit, catching the ball and running back to me (no jumps yet). I can't believe that she has picked this up so quickly and is totally hyper about it, it will probably be a different story when we add the jumps. Now I can see why people do it as the dogs love it so much. Any tips/hints from you seasoned flyballers?
  9. Sounds like you both had a ball. Well done, I think we can now safely say you're addicted to agility, happens to the best of us.
  10. Maybe the OP was referring to larger rescue organisations, who do have people at the top receiving large salaries, as oppose to smaller independantly run ones, who do it for the love of the animals and not the wages
  11. If you're looking for things to do with her on a one to one basis on the beach, what about sendaways to a toy, searching for buried things in the sand. Do you mean things like that?
  12. Sounds like you're doing really well. One of my dogs always had a problem with the weave entry and would sometimes run past it. I put up a set of weves in my garden and did 5 minutes training every day, really got him excited and used very yummy food and it just seemed to click into place. He hasn't had a problem since. I always think weaves are the hardest for a dog to get right. Keep up the good work
  13. If anyone is interested in going to an evening with Mary Ray, Broxburn Dog Training Club have arranged for her to come on 9th May 2007. The event is being held at The Scottish National Equestrian Centre ( Oatridge agricultural college), Ecclesmachan, Broxburn, West Lothian, Scotland between 7pm and 10pm. Tickets are £12.50 per person if bought prior to 12th March and £15 if bought after that. Anyone interested or needing more details should contact Sam via the Broxburn Dog Training Club website. www.broxburndogtrainingclub.co.uk Mods, I hope this is in the right place, it's kind of training related. Please move if need be
  14. You have my sympathy, I have a ten year old lab who has never lost her appetite. I've tried everything over the last eight years, my other dogs have good "leave" commands but to Meg it means gobble it down as quickly as I can before she catches me. On a brighter note she no longer overturns all my rubbish bins looking for food, she's stopped eating the soap from the bathroom and she no longer rips out my coat pockets looking for treats.
