  1. My Dad is great! Not only has he driven me around to various places to pick stuff up for the stall on Sunday, but he surprised me today with two Oldies Club banners that he had made up at the last minute. See picture below I think he has done pretty good job, especially as he sorced the image himself. It also means that there are two spare banners now, which should come in handy.
  2. 1: Boxing 2: Niagara Falls, or Mount Rushmore- I can't decide! 3: Rhubarb, asparagus (not to be a smart arse but I think there are more than 2 ) 4: Strawberries 5: The seeds are planted in the bottles???!!! 6: Dwell, dwelling, dwarf? 7: Comma, colon, semi-colon, apostrophe, exclamation mark, hyphen, slash (?), does a question mark count? 8: Lettuce 9: Socks, slippers, sandals, ski boots, slip-ons, do shoes count? I'm interested to see how much of a fool I've made of myself now!
  3. Oh no the poor boy. Fingers crossed that it isn't attached to the spinal chord and something can be done for this gorgeous lad.
  4. Sorry to keep bothering everyone (I'm sure certain people are sick of hearing from me- Melissa, Kelly and Fiona! ) But I'm just a bit worried that I still haven't received the Oldies Club banner or collection box for the stall on Sunday. I know that everyone is really busy, and I'm sorry if it is already in the post, I'm just in panic mode! If it hasn't been sent yet I would really appreciate it of somebody could post it out to me. Thanks everyone.

    Poor Jennie

Good news. I just spoke to Joan at the boarding kennels and she said that a local lady has come forward to offer Jennie a home Joan said that if it doesn't work out then they will keep Jennie there, as they have become very attached to the lovely old girl (apparently she spends most of her time in the house and only goes to her kennel when she wants a snooze!). As the lady hasn't collected Jennie yet, Joan wants to keep her on the Oldies Club website for the time being, but she thinks that it is pretty much definite that the lady will be taking her. Fingers crossed!

    Poor Jennie

I just rang the kennels to speak to Joan (name of contact on the site) to see if she would be open to allowing Jennie to go into a foster home, but she is on holiday at the moment and won't be back until Monday. So if anyone is interested in offering her a foster space perhaps they could call on Monday? I am happy to make enquiries too.

    Poor Jennie

I emailed Melissa about this gorgeous little girl just a few days ago because she totally pulled at my heartstrings too . Every day I check the website in the hope that she has found a home, but I've noticed that the private rehoming dogs seem to remain on the site for ages. She really doesn't deserve to be in kennels at the age of 14, the poor girl I have to admit, I did actually ring up with the intention of offering a foster home, but the lady that I needed to speak to wasn't there. I'm not sure if the kennels would allow that though, and of course, it could turn out to be another disaster with my cats! I was also trying to persuade my Mum to adopt her, but she said she already has a dog and four cats to care for- a clear dig at my sister and I for always relying on her pet sitting services!

I am so sorry, he was a beautiful boy.

    Poor Jem

He is lovely I hope he is soon on the mend.
  11. Thanks for all the advice I spoke to the vet earlier (she knows Tess very well) and she said that she doubts it is an infection causing the problem as Tess has been passing solids as well (sorry to be so graphic!). Plus, there seems to be no urgency for her to go to the toilet during the day. She does get quite distressed during thunder storms, but we haven't had one here since last week and this has only been happening since Monday. I did take an injured cat in on Saturday night, but managed to locate her owner the next day, so she was only here for a night. Although she has popped back a few times since, so I'm not sure if this has upset Tess, but she didn't seem bothered at the time and the cat was very friendly towards her. She is the only dog in the house, but still mixes quite happily with her cannine friends at the park. Although she has started to refuse to let anyone other than me take her out for walks, which she never had a problem with before. She is a very stubborn dog! I will definitely take all your advice on board and think that I will try enticing her upstairs tonight with a treat, fingers crossed it will be an incident free night! Thanks again everyone.
  12. For the last couple of mornings I have woken up to find that Tess has messed in the house. It usually happens around 4.30am when I am woken up to hear her scratching at the frontroom door. I always get up straight away, but it seems like she does it first and then decides to wake me up! I honestly don't think that it is because she can't hold it, as I normally don't go to bed until 12.30-1ish and she always gets walked just beforehand. She normally sleeps in my room and is quite put out if you wake her up any time before 7, but for the last three nights she has refused to come upstairs. She has no problem going up there at any other time though, so I just don't understand what this is all about. I am finding it quite hard to function on such little sleep, especially as I will be at work until 10pm tonight, and there are only so many times that you can hire the Rug Doctor in a week! I am convinced that this is a behavioural problem, but I don't know why she has suddenly started doing it. Any advice or suggestions on how to deal with it would be very much appreciated
  13. I would be happy to help out with this one.
  14. I know that Catherine already suggested this, but I like the bandana idea too. I remember Bouncer was wearing one in the video that Tracy took of him, so they have obviously been in circulation at some point!
  15. Tess went to the fun day at Battersea Dogs Home today and won to two rosettes for both the categories that she entered. She came third in the 'Vetrans' round, and second in the 'Childs Best Friend' round. There were lots of entrants, so she had to beat off some stiff competition. Tess showing off her rosettes Lots of people were asking about her, so it was a great opportunity to plug the Oldies Club. I gave the website details to quite a few people, so hopefully it should generate some interest. Battersea are also having another fun day in September and are happy to let other organisations exhibit, so it might be an opportunity for the Oldies Club to attend? I'm not sure who the London coordinator is, but I would be happy to help out if it was an area of interest.
  16. My Uncle is involved in Greyhound rescue, but it's in the Surrey area, so not sure if this would be any good for you? You probably have all the links already, but just in case you don't you could try www.hershamhounds.org Otherwise, is it possible to make a donation for boarding, just to get the dog into a safe place for the time being? Thanks.
  17. I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this, so apologies if it isn't. Sadly my colleagues rabbit recently passed away and she now has a large hutch and lot's of toys, food and bedding sitting in her shed going to no use. She has tried donating to a local animal charity, but they said they didn't need it! So, she has asked me to find out if anybody else might be interested. She also has a large guinea pig hutch and lot's of bottles and feeding bowls. All items are in great condition. She doesn't want any money in return, she just wants them to be put to good use. She lives in the Twickenham/ Richmond area. If you are interested please ring me on: 07933 610284, or send me a message. Thanks

    Tess

I thought I'd post some pictures of Tess post-groom. When I went to collect her I walked straight past her! She has completely transformed. She now looks like a miniature schnauzer!!

    Tess

Please meet Tess, the latest addition to the Oldies Club. As you can see from the pictures, it has taken her no time at all to settle into her foster home! She is a fantastic little dog, very affectionate and sweet, but she has been a bit naughty with the cats- which is strange as she seems fine with the ones that she meets outside of the house! She's off to the groomers tomorrow, so I will be able to take some better pictures of her for the website and get her profile up as soon as possible as she really deserves to be settled in her forever home.
