  1. Mum has recently been diagnosed with giant cell arteritis.... her CLP level was 143 :-(.... she is on 60mg steroids for over 2 months, they cant reduce them as the level shoots up, it is currently at 22... they want it to be 4.... she has rhumatoid arthritis, grade 3 COPD and osteoperosis.... she is having weekly blood tests... she's in with dr/a & e/ opticions on an almost daily basis... but... the last 2 days she has gone yellow... anyone know if thats normal? dr doesnt seem concerned... she's currently unable to eat or drink much too, its horrid
  2. How are all our dogs all of a sudden ageing? i dont like it!.. Holly is 14 in october, Ed is 9... its wrong! I dont suppose anyone has any experience of Giant cell artritis?
  3. I have a guinea pig called Dave lol
  4. Jazz you should have rung the out of hours... Paul who I live with is an electrician for a local housing group, xmas eve he had 9 emergency call outs, 2 of which were beeping smoke alarms... they will come out and sort them
  5. Snow I would be fuming too! we are in the process of having a 6ft wall built BUT on the side of us with no neighbour (we have a grass area 1 side... which makes it easier).. but I still notified my joining neighbour because of dust/noise I hate people who don't try and make an effort

  7. OOhh Kelly, i cant even imagine how that was for poot dex... Alex, is your wifi connection wireless to your pc or wired? I had this issue with BT, they told me the speeds were only going to be high if it is a wired connection SNow i really hope you get sorted asap and can be pain free
  8. Happy birthday Alex, I am glad your beautiful boy is ok too! Jayne we've been back and forth vets with Dj the chinchilla .. originally thought to be conjunctivitis but last week he was sedated, xrayed and had swabs taken... exotic vet rung last night, I was mortified, he has ecoli.. in his eye!... I may have freaked much to amusement of exotic vet who says its 1 of those things... I thought everyone would assume the poor sod is kept in filthy conditions but his cage is cleaned daily (he is a dirty lil sod)... we have some gel for his eye which is doing a great job so far.. I hope your little lad is soon better

  10. Everything crossed for clear xray! Snow i use a mobility scooter at times, originally i had dads spare and kept that and his actual main used scooter running when weather was too cold for him to take out himself... but i have to admit i often use it to pop to shops, or if ive not been out for a few days and am anxious i take scooter for a run... that way i dont have to be close to people (my agoraphobic issues are partly down to fear of being near people).. its given me lots of freedom id not usually have had... plus when my m.e is bad it helps save my energy... the 2 we have arent collapsable but my neighbour has 1 she can pop in the car, all i will say is avoid the flimsy feeling ones and be careful going round corners as they arent as sturdy as the *normal* ones
  11. Kelly funny you mention dogs and colours, Diesel moulted badly, well, his white bit did! Hope everyones safe with the floods
  12. She does look bull lurcher... a friend of mine recently had to rehome 2 due to a change in their situation... ironically they were good with cats but 1 wasnt so great at times with smaller dogs

  17. I started looking into piriton prices for Diesel, and myself, I was paying the vets a fair bit for them, then a neighbour whos dog also had allergies told me about the price for 500, so the dog and I shared!
  18. Kelly, glad your back properly! Alicia, do you buy piriton online? works out at £10 for 500 tablets
  19. Snow I've sent you a pm on behalf of Kelly (griff) :-)
  20. Oh Jayne... fly free bart, thinking of your brother too Also sleep tight lil hammy Nothing back yet from Kelly (griff) here either, I really hope shes ok
  21. What a stunning lil dog! Re dog/warden situ, I have no doubt we cant do much, but I am now very very weary of walking my remaining 2 in the local fields, we bought a house in January, at this location so I could take them out more on my own... I've lost interest in everything right now
  22. Loobie you will be fine, hope the acupuncture makes you feel better! re the warden, I am not holding my breathe as this owner seems hell bent that all he does is ok, but I have to try, its going to be a lump of a dog when fully grown and no controil already is a scary enough thing... the earth vibrates when the dog thunders towards you now... imagine another 6 months!
  23. Oohh how odd.... I've had a pretty rubbish week, apart from trying to deal with loosing my beautiful old Diesel dog I've been battling a conscience.... just before I lost him he had an altercation with another dog.. as in off lead dog, no recall, across a field pounding onto D's back trying to hump him... owner called him once then gave up, I had to keep removing dog off him and shoving away, then it kept trying to hump teeny Holly dog.... owner finally caught up with me over 5 mins later by which time id walked from fields and was in middle of housing estate... Anyhow I spoke to the vet the day I lost my lad and said im sure what ever happened then had added to what ever had happened resulting in me loosing D, she'd seen him just before so noticed the massive change in his back end etc and some other bits.. I wasn't sure the breed of other dog tho I thought anatonian shep or leonbergh.... and young so not a little light dog.... So I bit the bullet and spoke to the local dog warden Thursday, i'd looked for 3 weeks for the owner for a friendly chat and couldn't find him, warden is mortified... under new DDA it would be a possible prosecution as it was out of control in public place etc but I asked if he could attempt to locate owner and educate him which he agreed.... then a few hours later out with Ed and Holly, bumped straight into same blokie, same thing happened... explained what had happened to D, first he tried denying it was him, then denied his dog and he had ever seen me and wanted proof so I showed him the pic id taken with my mobile... guy is so so dim and thinks because the dog isn't aggressive it can do as it likes, approach who it likes etc.... ironically many locals have now approached and have had same issues with it.... So I asked him age and breed of his dog... 8 month old... gsd x Pyrenean mountain dog... so you can just imagine .. oh and they are debating another dog for him to *play* with and are looking at a gsd from local guy who breeds working stock which mostly go abroad to afgan etc as explosive detection dogs... Needless to say warden will now be paying a visit and explaining some things but I am not holding my breathe... last thing I can do for Diesel is try and get this man some sort of sense knocked into him... his dog will end up dead at this rate, makes me angry and sad all in 1
