  1. Brigadier you old devil. I saw that twinkle in your eye the first time you met and she certainly didn't seem to mind. We'll have to have a little chat when I visit next week.
  2. Hello again Brigg (if I may be so bold). I was extremely priviledged to meet you yesterday and what a lovable old chap you are. You have certainly landed on all 4 paws. When I arrived you were taking an afternoon nap on the lawn but did get up to patrol and introduce yourself to Lassie, then we had a little cuddle before you checked the area and decided all was fine.
  3. My 13 year old Scampi has suffered fom Spondylosis for several years, but Easter week he twisted his back on turning round causing further damage to his spine, had a paralysed tail and was in a lot of pain. He was prescribed PLT which certainly helped resolve that to a large extent but after that was discontinued he had a relapse and then prescribed Prednisolone. He has improved almost 100% can walk with no problems, wag his tail as of old and sometimes asks for a ball game which we monitor, although he can't c*** his ® leg properly, the prednisolone is now reduced with a view to discontinuation. Sadly though he is now suffering from slight incontinence and is taking Propalin. He did have a scan to check things out and apart from a couple of fatty lumps there is nothing sinister, also he doesn't fully empty his bladder each time which causes this dribbling, sometimes worse than others. This morning he has had a urine test and no infection so it is due to nerve damage. Has anyone any advice please for anything else we can do to help him.
  4. This beautiful girl today was taken to Aunty Sarah's in the hope of starting a new life following the death of her owner and then being signed over to the pound. She is a rather bewildered young lady at the moment but will soon settle with the Wiccs magic I'm sure. She already met a couple of the resident cats and dogs with no problems whatsoever. Best of luck with your brand new life ahead lovely lass. Lassie.
  5. As Babs, I have different sized crates depending on the size of the dogs, also my car is fitted with large D rings to which a double ended lead can be attached to.
  6. Positive thoughts for grumpy Buzzy Bee.

    Twiggy

Sleep tight dear Twiggy you were so loved and had so much to give in return. Your Zest for life will be remembered by many despite your debilitating illness. Lindsey you cared for this sweet girl so much bless you.
  8. I have never like the legal docking of tails even when done by a vet, but this is obviously an illegal attempt at docking which has gone horribly wrong and caused much suffering. When we rescued Scampi 12 years ago his previous owner had made an attempt to do the same with elastic bands, happily his tail was saved. Thank goodness these 2 are now safe and in good hands.
  9. The evil barstewards. I hope they find out who did this terrible deed. http://www.sthelensstar.co.uk/news/news/di..._sliced_off.php
  10. We have been to Ingleton on several occasions and done the waterfalls walk, well worth it. All around the area itself is Moorland so lots of walks available besides. This might give a little information http://www.visitingleton.co.uk/index.html
  11. Harvey does not look amused bless him for putting up with the little monster.

    Smithers

Well what a little pet, Took him to vet this AM, I didn't use a crate and he settled at first on the hammock, then decided underneath was better. Couldn't allow that so I stopped got him out and put him back, not tethered this time, I know it's a rule he should be but on assessing the situation he is so quiet and doesn't actually move about. He then lay down and slept till we arrived. I sat him on my knee while waiting and boy does he slobber, my sleeve was wet through. He just trembles all the time, is very doddery on his legs and appears rather confused. I didn't put him on the floor because there was an extremely bouncy Lab in that his owner had a hard job to control, if he had been allowed to come to play with Smithers would have injured him, Smithers took no notice though, nor of any of the other dogs that arrived while we were there. I don't feel the poor lad knows what day it is as he can't see very well either. He has a heart problem and lung congestion, if he was human I would say Congestive cardiac failure, but this hopefully can be controlled with medication which he has been prescribed for the rest of his life. He was also given a steroid injection to help give him a boost. Poor lad has cataracts as well as the lump under his tail which although needs to be removed can wait till he is a little better in himself. He's only about as big as a little Dachshund, with queen Anne legs and a long body, but quite thin. Before returning to kennels I took him for a little slow wander which again made me realise his eyesight is poor since he almost walked into a drainpipe, luckily I spotted it and we made a slight detour. Bless his little heart we then travelled back to kennels and again I carried him in since I think the morning was just too hectic for him as I thought after putting him down on the floor he was going to collapse. Hope the steroid gives him a little boost till his medication starts to work, he deserves lots of TLC.
  13. For such a littl'un she was as good as gold in her cat carrier for the journey, and when we arrived she gave Ally's girls a little kiss and started to wag that tail. I notice you haven't put the photo up that I took Ally.
  14. Yesterday my friend and I took 5 gorgeous dogs to rescue, a long but good journey. First there was little Belle, tiny JRT who travelled safely on my friends knee and managed to pick her pocket and steal a treat. Next came the lovely Angie, who managed to nuzzle my neck on occasion, a calm friendly girl, just wanting TLC. Then there was Angel who's name was quickly changed to Caspar on realising she was a he. He made confetti out of the newspaper under his bedding blanket. Next in line was Shadow, a gorgeous but shy Tiger Brindle boy, what an intelligent face and a lovely bushy tail he has, though extremely thin. Littlest and last was Sassy a teeny, teeny poopie only around 7 weeks old who travelled in a very small cat carrier and even lost herself in that, but certainly let us know she was there. for them all.

    Stella

Well Stella was a little star today, although as I drove to pick her up I could hear her, even though hoarse you can't mistake a Staffy. What an absolutely gorgeous, excitable friendly girl she is too. She chattered to me for most of the journey from the confines of her crate, well she only wanted company and cuddles. In the waiting room she wagged her tail at everyone and everything panting with excitement, climbed on a chair and wagged her tail at the lady next to me hitting her in the face, lady laughed and stoked her. She also said a lovely hello to a large Bully type lad and wanted to meet a little Shih Tzu, not a nasty bone in her body, just friendliness. Once she had been examined I took her for a little walk and she did walk quite well on the lead saying she was in a strange place and with a strange woman, although by this time we had got to know one another quite well. She was as good as gold on the return journey and I did feel sad at having to return her to a lonely kennel, she just wants lots of TLC and a good home. Sweet Stella. Stella, showing the large swelling to her elbow, which will be none existent soon. Bless her.
  16. I'm back and thank you Coryn for posting the pics of these 2 beautiful lads, both so friendly and lovable. Good luck boys I hope that forever home is just round the corner you deserve it.
  17. Ssssh. I've had 3 off this week. I think.
  18. Today I had the pleasure of meeting this lovely girl and helping her on her way to rescue. What a sweetie and perfect travelling companion she was too, just sat in the hammock on the rear seats awatching the worl pass by, occasionally poking her head over the top and pawing either mine or my friends shoulder for a little cuddle and a treat, all willingly given. Good luck little one and hope you have healthy wriggly babies then find that perfect loving home. Sweet Marge.
  19. I bought the 'Quiltie' one from OTT around 5 years ago certainly rather expensive, but it's still going strong. Too heavy and large to put in the washing machine, but a quick brush or hoover keeps it in tip top condition. They do other materials too. http://www.overthetop.co.uk/index.php?pg=2...p;pid=31&p=
  20. That red 'bum' is not Smudge is it? Looks like a fantastic walk and all had a good time.

Sleep tight gorgeous boy. Despite your disability you were one of the happiest dogs I have had the privilege to meet. Thank you Angela for for giving this lad the TLC he so richly deserved and for loving him so much.
