  1. OH and his camera went to see a grey phalarope a couple of years ago which had arrived in a childrens paddling pool (the big municipal type) in a park on the coast near Brighton. The little bird was not at all concerned by people with binoculars and cameras and came and sat next to OH when it was worried by some crows arriving. The only phalarope I've seen was a Wilson's phalarope in Cornwall, not many miles from where your video was taken. A lovely sunny day here today. I have a deskful of paperwork but am hoping for half an hour in the garden at lunchtime.
  2. I've planned that if I need to mark one of my 3 identical half wild rabbits (for example if one needed medication) then I would use gentian violet spray. I know that its meant to be harmless and from the odd time that I got it on my hands when we had chickens it seems to last for a good while. Perhaps you could aim to spray a spot on different parts of the body while they are in the trap?
  3. I have a friend with 3 kidneys and that causes problems, so best to start with 2!
  4. Glad that Ruby got on OK and got to ask as many questions as needed. How interesting that people have varying numbers of veins and arteries for their kidneys, you learn something every day! Owl, I imagine your watering has become a major job. It's the 50th day here since it rained and everywhere is so dry. There was a big grassland fire near Heathrow last weekend and the schools break up tomorrow, so the commons are more at risk then.
  5. Remind us when Ruby's op date is Yantan? It must be very difficult waiting when she knows it's got to be done. How is the tablet taking going Suzeanna? I'm interested in what you say about different brands of the same thing. I rather ignorantly thought the chemical structure was exactly the same from brand to brand as it's make under license or similar. A bit like Sainsburys paracetamol being the same as Tesco paracetamol!
  6. Send the rain down to Sunny Surrey! I bought a new fitbit from the Amazon prime day last year. Fortunate timing as the battery went on my old fitbit a couple of days before. The prime day gave an extra £20 off but you have to do your research for prices elsewhere.
  7. Wish it would rain here! Suzeanna - is it Letrazole that you are starting to take? It does come with the most massive long leaflet of side effects, but I haven't had any of the ones you list. Hope you do a lot better than you think
  8. I know I only pop in and out of here irregularly, but Yantan would you pass my good wishes too onto Ruby? Hope that she gets some answers (of the fixable variety) asap. It must be very worrying for you too, sometimes it's easier being the patient than the person looking on!
  9. Hope that Archie is safely back with you asap Marion. Your local search and rescue group might be able to put you in contact with someone who could help. xx
  10. Very sorry to hear about your Mum Phebe
  11. Isn't it a good job that people do volunteer? Not all countries have the equivalent of a well organised NHS and they need every bit of help going to try and stop the spread of Ebola right round the world. It's not infectious until someone has symptoms and it might take 3 weeks for the symptoms to appear. Happy New Year everyone.
  12. Really sorry to hear about Cherry
  13. Snow - obviously your vet knows best, but I'd be asking about testing for pancreatitis for poor old Nog. Marian - do you cook the Archie's chicken and rice in the same pan? If the rice tastes of chicken he might be more tempted!
  14. Good thoughts for Archie. Hope that the vet can help him be more comfortable.
  15. Glad to hear that the pod has arrived Owl and look forward to hearing about its progress. Sorry you are feeling low Suzeanna, have you spoken to your GP for some help? Rosie had another vitamin b jab this morning, apparently they sting a bit but she was quite happy to be there today and pleased to see the vet. The treats that I take for before and immediately after the jabs are obviously helping!

    Jack Dog

Hope that Jack is feeling better on his low fat food. Rosie was diagnosed with pancreatitis in the summer. It was a major battle to find a suitable low fat food that didn't include chicken as she can't eat that. I have a whole spreadsheet of foods, fat levels and whether or not they have chicken in them! She's now doing very well on a pets a home own brand food which I wouldn't even have looked at before. Fish4dog treats are mostly very low fat (apart from the stars) and Denes make some low fat biscuits, so Jack doesn't need to be without treats altogether.
  17. How exciting! Hope that Archie is soon feeling better.
  18. Fabulous run Luna, you've got some energy! Lucky find with the chestnuts Owl. I picked up a bag of them in Tesco today and put them down as they were all split. Bet there will be lots down after the high winds have passed by.
  19. Well done Jayne and the whole Doglost team.
  20. Hope that Nog is soon feeling better. Might be worth the vet considering testing for pancreatitis.
  21. Good point, I will do a count of what's in her money box now!
  22. I see that Fern has been making a few bids too!
  23. I don't like Facebook either, but Fern has signed up just so that I can keep track of the Oldies Club and a couple of rabbit rescue things. It's sort of Facebook at arms length! Would Archie consider joining up just for charitable type things?
  24. I was thinking about you earlier and wondering if you had your new car yet! Good news that it's cheaper to insure.
