  1. I have been trying to find out what the life expectancy is for a chook, but can't seem to find the answer so its over to the fugees- does anyone know? I have 2 sulmtaler bantams- Derek and Doris, they were hatched in either 2003 or 2004 (i can't find the diary i wrote it in) and Doris hasnt laid a single egg this year and as they are both in excellent condition and health i am assuming its due to her age and it got me wondering how long they actually live for
  2. 1, I wanted my own horse so when i started work at 16 i got a loan off my grandparents and got myself a yearling anglo arab and managed to pay them back £10 a week out of my huge wage of £29.50- the good old days of the YTS! The up side to it was i was working on a livery yard and got a free stable 2, I wanted a pet rat, so the first thing i did when i got my own house was get a male rat called Ben 3, I wanted a proper motorbike, but my dad wouldnt allow it and they got me a honda melody scooter in naff beige the embarassment remains with me to this day. So when my son turned 17 this year, we got him an utterly gorgeous brand new yamaha YZF 125R in white and red. It is his pride and joy and he was heart broken when a car drove into him and caused loads of damage to it a few weeks ago. I am so glad we were able to get him the bike he wanted- but it doesnt stop me worrying about him every time he goes out!
  3. When we were little, my dad used to make hot lemonade for me and my sister when we had colds and i used to love it. We also got given a teaspoon of egg white whisked with an equal measure of water. We got a spoonful whenever we were vomiting and it used to stop that awful retching. Then when we had been ill we got given a beaker full of milk with sugar and a raw egg whisked into it- sounds nasty, but it was really good.
  4. Why not have a look at becoming a 'mystery shopper', ny mil does it and she makes a good wage from it and gets to pick and choose the jobs she does- they also tell you in advance how long it will take and how much you will be paid, before you choose to do it
  5. my mil's dog when he was about 10mths old was enjoying a family outing on southport beach- he came proudly trotting up to her to show off his find- a used condom, complete with the evidence. A tug o war between them both resulted in my mil getting showered with the contents - anyone who has been to southport beach will appreciate how far she had to walk to wash it off

so sorry to hear this I use a local pet crematorium. I take the dog there myself and they do an individual cremation whilst i wait. I do this so that i know all has been done properly and i will not trust my beloved dogs to anyone. They are really good and will either arrange an appointment time or i can phone them after unexpected pts and they have made arrangements for me to go within an hour or two. Any reputable crematorium will accommodate your needs
  7. I'm impressed with your back garden- i was origionally thinking it would be a good place to take my 3 for a dip-LOL (your not that far away from me) He's not as tall as the 'out and about today' pic makes him look, thats why i asked cos he looks absolutely huge in that one Still a very big boy for his age though, what i like to call 'a proper lap dog'
  8. how tall is he at the moment? cos in that first pic he looks bloomin massive he actually looks bigger than my Rio where abouts did you take him swimming?
  9. LOL, If i didnt have 3 bull breeds already i'd be on my way he's gonna be making some lucky person very happy
  10. WOW he's stunning Gonna be a big lad
  11. Kathy when i was working with people who had memory problems, some of them became very obsessed with things -like what they had eaten (often thought they hadn't eaten) and visitors, so we gave them a notebook each and whoever was assisting them wrote in the date and then things that were relevant to them- like what they had eaten for each meal and if they enjoyed it. Who visited. what they did that day (if it was different than normal) ect. It may be worth a try with your mum- put her name on the front of it, and ask everyone to add to it everyday. it worked very well for most of them and helped ease some of their stress as they would spend a lot of time worrying about stuff and seemed to be a little better for it- however there were one or two who didnt believe what was written (a book of lies), and it made them worse. but i do think it's worth a try
  12. LOL they tested it on either top gear or that science programme (where they always wear yellow tops) ages ago and it worked Heres another for you- if the batteries are getting low and you have to get right up close to the car before it will unlock, hold the remote behind your head and then press it and it will work better im always having to do it and i get some right funny looks off people
  13. The wonderful phenomenon of PIP . I have full sympathy for you - you can vent to me any time you want You do occasionally manage to get your own back though- i was getting hit and kicked by a man with severe chest pain a few years ago. the consultant gave him a right ear bashing and told him if he hurt a member of his staff again he would be dumped out in the ambulance bay- MI or no MI, anyway he spat at me again and he was dragged out to the ambulance bay on the trolley and left with a security guard for about 20 minutes till he decided that he would give me a full appology- in the end there was sac all wrong with him. but i am a great fan of zero tolerance The sweet and lovely ones make it all worthwhile
  14. BLOOMIN ECK that looks mighty ouchy it is a superb array of colours though I hope you are having some time off work now to rest it
  15. If anyone has one get all your statements down to an accountant, they have been taking a higher percentage of interest than they should have and ripping people off My oh has one and took all his statements to his accountant. He did a few calculations and confirmed that they have been taking more than the stated percentage. so he has passed it all straight over to a Barrister who is dealing with it.
  16. Ceri was great with me, there were 4 dogs at the time to cater for and 2 of them are really difficult, she asked loads of questions and then came up with the suggestions, she then sent loads of samples so they could choose which they liked the best- Rio and Dudley chose the CP21 and Duke chose the champ They are all doing superbly on it
  17. Can you actually fit a nail file in your mouth Ring your local hospital and ask for the emergency dentist- the thought of DIY dentistry makes me cringe
  18. I hope you feel a lot better now you have made your decision
  19. OHHH thanks for the warning- i wont mention the dogs
  20. Try looking at the range from CSJ http://www.csjk9.com/ They are really good if you contact them, they will get all the details about the dog then will reccommend which food would be best suited
  21. If it were me i would be making a decision based on who you want to spend your birthday with. If you want Stef there for your birthday it pretty well makes the decision for you Your parents have stated what they want, but it is ultimately your choice and you and Stef could go somewhere else- but thats just me and i'm all for making my own choices in life
  22. Ive just had to have a HIV test for my new job- along with the usual Hep B and Hep C And i get home and discover that Rio and Dudley have broken the front room radiator and killed my laminate flooring cos they keep charging into it and it has been secretly leaking - i wonder if the insurance will pay for new flooring
