  1. Insecure girlfriends of brothers can become insanely jealous of the sister - maybe she is jealous of the relationship you have with your brother and is taking it out on Charlie cos she instinctively knows it will rile you most
  2. I don't use an Ipad but do use an Iphone and have the same problem, I can read the posts here but can't reply - nearly drove me nuts when I was in the hospital as the phone was my only means of using the internet I don't have this problem with any other site though
  3. I am very grateful that a routine scan in October found the growth in my brain - the surgeon told me it would have killed me in a few more weeks So although I hate the constant rehab and assistance that I now need I am extremely grateful to be here to need it I am also thankful that my wonderful hubby has been there every step of the way
  4. Morning  Hubby has finally gone back to work after 3 weeks off with his broken rib - I love him lots but I love him so much more when he goes to work and isn't moping about all day Hope Timmy is feeling better soon Hope you have a good flight San Re the carer thing - I needed home care after my surgery in October - I fought tooth and nail not to have the carers wash and dress me although I tolerated this happily enough in the hospital - I think it was more to do with the emotional side of stuff with me thinking that as I was home then I was back to normal and didn't need help - was happy to let my hubby and neighbour help me though as somehow that didn't seem so formal Hope you can find a solution soon Owl
  5. Welcome to the world baby Tigger Mini ponies Hope they thrive now they are in your care Tis very cold here but no snow (and still no snow shovel!) Hubby seems to be thinking he can go back to work on Weds with his broken rib - seeing as he isn't funtioning without morphine I am doubting he will manage it
  6. :yay: for greybobs going to their forever homes to all poorly people Fingers crossed those snowed in manage to dig an escape tunnel soon I have survived my mothers visit, she only managed to tell ooh about 500 people that I am blind this time which is an improvement on the last visit so she's either learning that it will wind me up lots or is running out of new people to inform We have had no snow and my missing snow shovel is still missing
  7. Hi Loobie  Hubby is home today :yippee: My postman has come out of hibernation long enough to deliver my bills but not my snowshovel
  8. Alex that was a lovely thing for you and your colleague to do Hope all poorly folk are feeling better today I have put our christmas tree up - I started at 11 this morning and have just finished, I also ran out of lights before I ran out of tree but it is up and I did it all by myself :smug:
  9. Still no post here in Mansfield and the snow has all but gone now Think my postie must've been made into an ice cube somewhere
  10. I have survived day 1 of 4 being home alone - I have wrapped up pressies, good luck to those trying to get into them Christmas morning as I used a whole roll of sellotape I can confirm that when putting spuds onto boil it is a good idea to check you have turned on the correct ring or your chicken will be all cooked and crispy and your spuds and peas will be hard and cold
  11. We had no post at all for 10 days, I ordered a snow shovel on Nov 30th from Amazon and that still hasn't arrived Our postman has started his rounds again but it seems a bit hit and miss as we had one delivery Weds but none since The snow is melting now so not sure where the blockage in the system is
  12. Hope all poorly folks are feeling better Fingers crossed Harriet is home soon Happy Birthday Lewis :bigparty: My SIL phoned yesterday evening, she had attempted to turn right across the snow outside our house and got stuck - she is fully mobile and sighted but stupid here had to get her wellies on and do the dash of death across 2 lanes of rush hour traffic to dig her out because she had new boots on and didn't want to ruin them
  13. Owl & Mummy Owl, tis hard watching them get old I have no news Hope you all have a good day
  14. I'm blind and have very little hearing - I use audio books and love them, they are much better than the TV which can be frustrating when you can't hear/see what is going on As she is blind your local SS should be able to arrange for her to get a book reader and a subscription to the RNIB audiobook library which is fab, they send you upto 6 books on disk and once done with them you simply shove them back in the post (free of charge) and they send a replacement Alternatively I like tactile puzzles which can be as challenging or simple as you like..
  15. Hope all poorly folk are feeling better today RMQ: What is the point of speech therapy when the therapists command of the English language is so poor the nurse has to translate everything he said
  16. Ingi Hubby fell over in the ice at work yesterday, he is bruised all down one side and groans everytime he moves - so why does he think that he'll be ok driving a bus today We must have traffic outside as Benji is grumbling away from his vantage point on the sofa Wonder if my snow shovel will arrive ever - no post for about a week now
  17. Why would you say you had run over a dog when you hadn't I really hope that she is still out there and has found a warm place to shelter and that karma gets the moron who caused the search to stop Hope you are all well and warm, tis a balmy -6 here this morning I will be home alone from Friday to Monday - you should see the list of things hubby has banned me from doing in his absence, he is certain I will burn the house down or something
  18. My neighbour was walking to Tesco, I offered to go with her but she declined on the basis that the journey would be hard enough without me causing mayhem I can report that walking frames do not act as a stabaliser in the snow, if anything the wheels act as mini snowplows till you find yourself all lopsided and sink slowly into the heap of snow that used to be the lawn..... I was only there about an hour before said neighbour got back and spotted me - told her she should have taken me with her to keep an eye on me
  19. Fingers crossed for you Sam Giggling lots at the invaders Owl Hope you feel better soon Alex Congratulations on your win Amy I spent all that time clearing a tiny bit of the driveway so hubby could get his car on yesterday and broke all my wonky bits to the point where I can't stand up now and yesterday afternoon a man knocked on the door and offered to clear the whole driveway (and it's a big 'un) for £5 - I nearly ripped his arm off There were 4 of them and they cleared the whole thing in 15mins and did a fab job
  20. The snow is about half way up my thighs in places now (I am 5' 11: tall for reference) I have dug a path for Benji up the garden and he shot up it and dived in the deep snow the loon - then whimpered and whined till I also dived in and got him out again Have dug an area big enough for hubby to get on the drive when he gets home later but it is still snowing lots so may have to shovel again Didn't dig a path to the front door though so he'll be getting soggy knees
  21. Good grief, we dug the car out of the driveway at 9 last night (it got snowed in since he got home from work at 3!!) I opened the front door to brush off the overnight snow this morning and the snow fell indoors - it's about 3' deep out there now I will be spending today digging out as much as possible including a route round the back for Benji cos the snow is deeper than he is Blind person loose in snow with a shovel - check the news later
  22. Ah but he has banned me from doing half the things I do so that I don't get into trouble One day I will accept that I am blind and should take more care when doing stuff but it's been over 2 years now and it hasn't sunk in yet
