Thankyou again for all advice, I think Im going to start by phoning school and see what they say, if they can help or what programs exactly she needs, then we will go from there. I did notice that the microsoft home and office software is £20 cheaper if bought on online, rather than in store, so thats an option too. Will keep you posted!!
  3. Freecycle!! Put an item on 24 hours ago that needs to go this weekend, its still not on the site!

I have a very disappointed daughter! After deciding on the laptop to buy, off we go to get it. We are then told the said laptop will not have the programs on that she needs for school, mainly office word powerpoint and excel, and that this has to purchased seperately at an extra cost of £100. She doesnt have enough money. Apparently they are all like this now, which we didnt know, So time for a re-think. Felt so sorry for her, poor love.

Thankyou so much for those suggestions, and especially the advice about setting a password on the wireless connector, I had no idea that other people could access it. (would that just be immediate neighbours, or a wider area?) Also another question, sorry but Im not techy at all!! What is the difference between RAM and hard drive? Im looking for probably a 2gb memory, but is that the RAM or the other??
  8. Sorry no advice but will be watching this with interest as my oldie springer appears to have the same symptoms. to Mal.

    Laptop

My daughter wants to buy herself a laptop, which will see her through high school, so will need internet access, likes her games and messenger, and has a budget of £500 max. We've been round all the shops to look, but theres so many available, Im at a loss as to which to buy. She would like it to be portable, does she also need to buy a wireless router connector thingy?? A built in webcam would also be useful. And Im hopeless on the memory too, Im guessing she'll need a fair bit to store homework, music etc. Anyone any suggestions? thankyou. (would prefer NOT to buy online.)
  10. Thankyou for all your thoughts and opinions. Must admit I hadnt considered the insurance side of things, looks like it probably wont be possible. Anyway no harm in giving them a call! Serena already has a sponsor dog, I was just looking for something a little bit different, and in a way it would help too. I'll keep thinking! Thanks again.
  11. Im in exactly the same situation as you too, the only way Tillys claws get clipped are at the vets, or my lovely friend and her husband come round and do them for me, it needs two people, one to hold her and one to clip.(at the vets it took four of us.) I hate it being done as I know Tilly gets so stressed, but there just isnt a choice. Do you have anyone who can help? Or a good vet? Or a good dog groomer will sometimes do it. Lots of luck to you, its not always easy doing these things on your own is it.
  12. Googled it and found it, too far away for me to help Im afraid. Hope theres someone local who can.
  13. Whereabouts is Asheldham? Ive put it in aa routeplanner and it doesnt come up.

    Reiki healing

Im afraid this is a very selfish request as its for me! Please can I have some reiki for next Thursday. Im suffering terribly with hayfever, and I have my aunts funeral to attend, and would really like to feel better just for one day! Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou.
  16. Im trying to think of something for my daughter to do for her birthday, and as she's dog mad, a thought was if she could volunteer at a rescue centre for a day? With me accompanying her of course, and offering a reasonable donation? What do rescues think? Would it be too much to ask? Or worth enquiring? Ive 2 rescues local to me, RSPCA, and Blue Cross, am I being very naive, or is it worth a phone call? Thoughts and opinions please.
  17. I have to say that Wiggle and Dolly really do look like the best of pals and totally inseperable.
  18. Thanks for that, I'll let you know how she does on them, and I'll give them at least a month! Im actually wondering if she may have some type of doggy hayfever as shes now also got a blocked nose, anyway fingers crossed for the tablets.
  19. Ooops, now done it!! Lets hope they do the trick!
  20. My oldie springer Tilly seems to be suffering from a runny and blocked nose. I only want to take her to the vets as a last resort as shes terrified of them. Anyone any ideas or suggestions? Thankyou!!
  21. Im trying to order some of the capsules for itching for Tilly, from healthydirect, but its not letting me go any further than the home page, anyone have any ideas? They sound just what Tilly needs for her constant itching.
  22. I got some really helpful advice and tips a few weeks ago, Im hoping you may be able to help again! Ive pretty much recovered from my sciatica, but today Ive pulled a muscle in my neck, which is very painful, and now my leg is hurting again, could this be related? I dont think the sciatic nerve has any connection to the neck, but Im pretty clueless on body things!! Is it something to worry about? Or just bad luck? Thankyou in advance.
  23. Cotton traders? They're not cheap tat, but far from expensive, I would say reasonably priced, but good quality.
