  1. He's adorable! I bet he'll be a great ambassador for the bully breeds, hopefully he can show people how lovely they can be!
  2. Definately going, probably on Friday. Just shopping, looking round Discover Dogs for things with squishable faces.
  3. We used in once on Ria before, but we use it regularly at work for dogs with mites etc and it always works well.
  4. Thanks everyone. I've put some aloe on it, so I'll see if it gets a little better. We have just been out for a walk which involved leaping through bushes and brambles, so that seems a likely explanation!
  5. Hi I've just been fussing Ria, and I noticed that on her underbelly, just between her thighs she has a sore-looking red rash. She does have very soft, thin skin and being a Lurcher is completely bald under there. It doesn't seem to be hurting when I touch it and she isn't licking at it. Obviously if it doesn't clear up soon I'll take her to the vets, but I'd rather see if it gets better first as she hates going to the vets. The last time we were there because she had a grass seed in her ear, and she was leaping arund the room screaming when the vet was just holding the thing to look in her ear. Anyone experienced this before? I was thinking of putting some aloe vera cream on there to sooth it a bit?
  6. As JulesB said, get him checked in case it's something medical. But my Collie cross does this, though not as extreme - she'll never poo in front of you. She'll always run over to the other sie of the field before she goes, and I know why it is. Her first owners obviously yelled at her (and I'm guessing they hit her, as they had the idea that they should hit her on the nose whenever she greeted them to "show her who's boss") for going to the loo inside, and instead of housetraining her, it lead to her thinking "If I poo, people will hurt me. I'd better get far enough away first so they can't get me." Basically, Connie thinks pooing is bad and ends in punishment, so she's scared to poo in front of people. If Rex is a rescue maybe the same has happened to him? Try keeping him on lead if you think he's going to poo, then give him loads of praise as he does it, lots of fuss and maybe a treat afterwards.
  7. It's a good name. Dunno where my Wilbur's name came from, he was already named when we got him. Isn't Wilbur in the story a pig or something? If so, maybe he is name after that.
  8. I understand Fiona's point and in most cases would agree, but as others have said it sounds like Hobbes was taken by surprise. Besides the fact that the bulldog should have been MUZZLED! I just can't comprhend it. They obviously know their dog can and will harm others, and if they know what he can do even on-lead then surely they are obligated to do that? I know from experience with Connie that you can't always trust other people's dogs not to run up and put themselves in danger, which is why she is muzzled even when she's on lead. I don't want my dog to hurt any other dogs, simple as that. People with agressive dogs have a responsibility not only to stop their own dogs getting into trouble, to other owners to stop them hurting their pets, and most of all to other owners of agressive dogs to show that there are some out there who can take the blame for their pets actions. If they think their dog could be dangerous to another dog, they should be doing everything in their power to stop that happening.
  9. Thanks, glad you liked it! I'm not sure about the Times... I mean I'm still not 100% certain on how the copyright for the song works.
  10. Poor thing! One of my pet hates is owners of agressive dogs who won't take the blame or do anything to prevent other dogs being hurt. One of my dogs is dog agressive and I keep her muzzled whenever we're out. I'd feel so guilty if Connie injured another dog. That dog should be under control, and those people should take responsibiltiy for it!
  11. Hmm, I've never really noticed that dogs dislike my male black Lab. But then he's a very confident and laid back dog and tends to calm dogs down anyway.
  12. Thanks! Yep, feel free to post wherever you like.

    Omg

Ugh, people are disgusting. Do they know who did it?
  14. Is it? I'll go and change it. Hmm, the music came from a James Blunt album, so I'd assume it's copyrighted although I'm not sure how these things work. All the photos were given to me by the owners for the video, so I definately have their permission.
  15. He's such a Labrador... his facial expressions include sad, depressed, miserable, weary, upset, disappointed and "FOOD!".
  16. Thanks, and hello again! How are Storm and Akira?
  17. Hi! My name's Rachel, I'm 17, work at Dogs Trust, and I'm owned by three dogs. This is Connie, a 3yr old Collie cross (most likely with Golden retreiver, possibly Greyhound as she's very fast) who we adopted from a family who took her on as a cute puppy and didn't want the bad dog she grew into. When we first got her she was nervous agressive towards men and children, very handshy and dog agressive. Now she's just dog agressive, which is why she wears a muzzle when out although she's sociable most of the time. She's a typical crazy collie, and I love her to bits! Ria is a Lurcher who we adopted from work. She was a stray found in Ireland as a pup who spent the next 3 years in kennels, because she was ugly, or something. She's definately Rhodesian ridgeback/Greyhound, but I'm pretty convinced she has something bully in her. Maybe Staffie, because she's very muscular, very determined and a complete softy. She loves people and dogs, but I think a lot of people get the wrong impression of her and we've had one person grab hold of her as she played with their Labs (quite happily) and yell "Come and get this dog, I don't like the look of it and it's going to attack my dogs!". Last but not least, Wilbur is an 8yr old Labrador who we adopted from a breeder as a pup. He's the only one with no problems whatsoever and is generally laid back and friendly, if a little over friendly at times! He doesn't act his age at all, despite having hip displasia and arthritis. This is them all together, looking as though they really enjoy camping. Or not.
  18. Ooh, yes please! I mean, of course you have permission. I actually emailed the site about spreading it around. Do you want the Youtube link or do you want the actual file? (if those can be sent... I'm not sure..)
  19. Hi, I'm new here, and I thought I'd share this video that I made with you. It's about BSL, and I know before anyone says, it isn't exactly going to make a huge difference in the fight against BSL, but I just wanted to make my feelings know and show some people that these breeds aren't dangerous. So if you would like to send this link to anyone who would enjoy it, I'd be very grateful! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIsAoCJwBos Thanks! Rachel
