  1. I've been to Hardcastle Crags a couple of times and really love it. I can vouch for the first half to the teashop being quite a gentle walk, it only got tough when the other half decided he didn't want to follow the trails anymore and we got a bit lost walking up and down the sides of the valley.
  2. Oh dear - was reading the Lancashire Evening post yesterday and this poor creature has now been found dead in a farmer's field The farmer states it had no obvious injuries and possibly from natural causes (sorry can't do a link).
  3. I have Archie a yorkie who loves to bark at anything and everything when we are out but inside the house he is extremely quiet. Some years ago we had another yorkie as well - Benji who was more bolshy and would bark excitably at visitors. One night we got the shock of our lives when Archie started going ballistic in the dead of night while Benji didn't make a sound. We were a bit confused until the police knocked a short time later, it turns out a number of garages in the street has been broken into and they had attempted to get into ours which joined onto the utility room where the dogs were sleeping and had obviously disturbed Archie. A few weeks ago about 0500 in the morning he started barking, a neighbour had recently had their shed broken into so I dived out of bed checking through all the windows and switching lights on before I opened the back door, Archie happily strolled to the end of the garden and had a wee before coming back in. I strongly think he saw someone out of the kitchen window or heard something that set him off, he was barking almost angrily until he heard me get up (my brave OH remained in bed throughout I might add).
  4. Hello again The payment hadn't been processed and I managed to cancel. It just seemed quite strange and when I tried to ask about the terms it was all swept under the carpet before she suggested I cancel. I realise I'm coming across as a bit of a muppet but honestly the whole thing made me uncomfortable and I'm feeling quite relieved. Thank you Samantha
  5. Hi Thanks for the replies - the only thing apparent on the website is that the housekeeping deposit is £150. The company I booked with are an agent, the deposit was briefly explained on the phone with full details to follow in the post. To be honest I think I will be told I have made a firm booking and therefore cannot cancel but I will ring them now and see what happens. Samantha
  6. Hello I don't post very much (bit shy ) so apologies it this sounds cheeky but has anyone had success previously cancelling a holiday using these terms and conditions? 2. The receipt of a signed booking form and/or payment of the deposit is deemed to be a firm booking and it is assumed that the tenant has read and agrees to abide by the hiring terms and conditions which can be found on our website and in our brochure. If accepted, the Hirer becomes liable for the full balance of charges which are payable six weeks prior to the commencement of the holiday and eight weeks in the case of overseas bookings. Non-payment of the balance of the hire charges by the due date will result in the agency treating the property as being available for re-booking. 3. If the hirer cancels a confirmed booking they remain liable for payment of the full cost of the holiday. Upon receipt of written confirmation of the cancellation from the hirer, the agency will endeavour to re-let the property and if successful will make a full refund to the hirer less an administration fee of GBP 60 (inclusive of VAT) and any other expenses incurred in re-letting. I have booked a holiday today and paid the balance in full as it is due in full by 230808. Since booking I have some concerns about a house keeping deposit and how am I being asked to pay it. The full conditions are not on the website and were only explained after the booking with full details being sent in the post. I'll be speaking with the agent tomorrow but to be quite honest I'm put off with the way it was handled. Hoping hopefully that there is a get out clause - thank you for reading Samantha
  7. I can't vote in this poll for some reason but yes I agree the thread has run its course. I agree with the reason the thread was started and how it has given people the chance to rebutt allegations made against them. I also believe that without proper answers being given to the questions posed that the thread cannot continue and that the questions posed by members should be extracted and pinned and the thread closed. If i'm really honest I always had doubts about DP but the latter part of the thread has left a very nasty taste in my mouth.
  8. Just to add my tuppence worth. When i went out with my first serious boyfriend our relationship was a lot like what you describe. I didn't eat there but used to spend a few evenings a week round there listening to music in his room. I used to say hello to his parents when I saw them and I only found out when we split up that "my family thought you you were weird anyway" because they thought even though I was shy I didn't make enough of an effort. If somebody had talked to me about it I really would have tried harder so I think even though your son may be annoyed you should speak to her, tell her you'd like to get to know her better and would appreciate it if she could eat her meals with the rest of the family.
  9. Hi don't really post in here but saw this and wanted to say, use the version you have registered as on paperwork because Companies House for instance are a pain for returning things if everything submitted doesn't agree to the companys incorporation certificate
  10. Hiya I'm also at AAT level thinking about a new job Robert Half in Manchester were recommended to me by a friend who got a really good position through them
  11. Oh good I was looking through the rest of the forums trying to see if anyone else had one.
  12. Can I ask what the warn thingy under my post count is? Did I do something? Samantha
  13. I like the bit where he says they are tackling the minority. These bans will affect everyone and I can't see how being on lead will be an incentive for those who don't pick up their dogs poo to suddenly start doing it.
  14. Hi Newbie to the site so I won't be offended if my suggestions are useless. I was thinking it might be a good idea to e-mail a couple of regional news programmes to get the other side of recent events across to the public. Seeing the pound dogs live on a programme may be a little more real to viewers than just reading about it in a newspaper (and it might also raise some awareness for the work of RDR in general ) Don't worry I haven't e-mailed the programmes but here are the newsdesk addys for someone (with the rescues permission) to try: BBC Northwest Tonight - [email protected] Granada Reports - [email protected] and just in case it hasn't already been suggested Lancashire Evening Post - [email protected] Samantha
