  1. Vegemite doesn't compare to Marmite, unless you imagine a Marmite impersonating brown spread made by the mad old lady who does the awful food in the Vicar of Dibley, mixed in with the sand from David Hasselhoff's swimming trunks Marmite Rules!
  2. I think I'd probably open a bottle of wine! Hope you get it sorted Kerri
  3. Ooops! So excited I posted twice!
  4. I do that, then peel the smashing orangey bit off (but only when eating them in secret - if eating them in public I stuff 'em in to avoid anyone else getting my share!)
  5. but I also buy their foreign cousins from Lidl, especially the ones with the smashing cherry-y bit Am I still welcome in this forum?
  6. Please can one of you point me to a website that tells me that (doesn't matter whether it is a news one or what) The link to the EDM doesn't say, as I put on the other thread about it. I'm sure that you think I am being pedantic but I like to get facts correct, particularly in my letters of protest. Thanks
  7. Can someone tell me exactly who is holding this inquiry please?
  8. The Environment Agency (EA website) is the only agency reported to be undertaking an inquiry into this and their juristiction is merely environmental hazards, ground water and steams and river pollution, etc. "We are the leading public body for protecting and improving the environment in England and Wales. It's our job to make sure that air, land and water are looked after by everyone in today's society, so that tomorrow's generations inherit a cleaner, healthier world." Sir John Harman, Chairman. That is not the same as a government inquiry, and that's why I asked the question It seems to me that EDM doen't go far enough, is a bit pointless and is a missed opportunity if that is the case but no-one on here seems to know of any other inquiry...
  9. If it is a matter of 'thinking outside the box' then perhaps rather than worrying about whether the committee members have been elected by ballot, perhaps people should be discussing things like...for example... weekend versus weekday - which will generate greater numbers of public supporters? Not much point in marching on Parliament (if that is one of the options) if all the MPs are at home in their constituencies - also the first Countryside Alliance Rally in Hyde Park garnered much greater support than was anticipated because it was held on a weekday and office workers could therefore come out and show their support by standing with their 'counties' at lunchtime (something that the press loved btw and made much of) - then again, perhaps people from outside the capital couldn't get the time off work? and there are hundreds of other examples of issues that can be considered and debated in the runup to a properly organised event
  10. I think if most people travelling any distance and intending to do so with their dogs, either by train and tube or by car, really consider the heat, the crowds, the cost of the congestion charge and parking or difficulty in using public transport with a greyhound sized dog that 's not used to it, the need to carry bedding, water etc, etc then they are unlikely to think that it is a good idea whether they are told they can or they can't. In any event, it wouldn't be possible to stop people but in reality, who is likely to want to have criticisms about animal welfare levelled at them when that's exactly the reason for the march? Or alternatively, say they are not going to be supportive because they are asked not to take dogs - that's a bit petty, isn't it?
  11. 'welcomes the Government's inquiry into the slaughter and potential health and environmental hazards this may cause; and calls on the British Greyhound Racing Board to investigate this matter' So is there to be a government inquiry over and above that of the Environment Agency which will be looking at potential groundwater contamination - which amounts to the health and environmental hazard bit? People seem to be calling for one but I can't find out whether there actually is to be one And I'd rather see an independent inquiry than BGRB undertake their own
  12. Betty and I would march (well, it would have to be a stroll for her if it wasn't on soft grass)

    Hi

Hi Sean, no classics here at present (except me!) but have had a 1960 Landrover Series II, an MGT BT, a Triumph Stag and am still hankering after a Daimler Dart, although not sure how I could fit four dogs in!
  14. Is it possible or does one, like other fora, remain a member forever in spite of choosing not to?

  18. Do either of those contain skullcap and/or valerian? My behaviourist (who originally trained as a vet before he decided to specialise in behaviour) told me that both of them, although calming a dog, cause the 'learning' function of the brain to shut down too, so you may be inhibiting Ty's ability to learn from good experiences that walks are ok and fun and nothing to be scared of and therefore prolonging the problem. Of course, if you're not giving her skullcap and valerian in any form, then this post is of no use, sorry
  19. Run free Sammy to all who took him into their hearts
  20. So sorry Cindy .... run free Tango sweetheart
