  1. Don't need to thank me Kathy. I had a great time meeting you all
  2. Well I can see whose side you lot are on! Mrs Mop, they'll only replace them free if I can show evidence. I've got a few tiny fragments and I'm hunting for more, but I suspect I may have to wait for some to "reappear"
  3. Tillie often has old socks to play with. She rags them around, chews them, buries them, digs them back up again etc. Last night she'd been ragging a sock around for ages, throwing it in the air and catching it, kicking it across the floor and chasing it. Eventually she was getting tired, so she took the sock to bed and lay chewing it. She was very sleepy, and when I next looked she'd fallen asleep, was absolutely sparko...with the sock hanging out of her mouth: So, how come this angelic little girl who looks like butter wouldn't melt, then presents me with one completely destroyed boot this morning? Insides ripped out, laces and cuff completely destroyed, totally unwearable. 5 minutes later I discover the tiny remnants of my right hearing aid (she ate the left one a couple of months ago and I still haven't had time to collect the replacement). That's another £70 I've got to find!! So, dog going free if anyone wants her!
  4. Missy Mouse was Ben's first mouse. She'd been with him about a year, but was already we think quite mature. She was a little chatterer, didn't squeak so much as tut and make little clicky noises. Missy Mouse - died 1 March 2007
  5. *THUD* What an absolute little poppet! Couldn't you just imagine snuggling up on the sofa with a mug of hot chocolate, her on your lap and watching an good old black and white weepie? I'm in love!
  6. Only just seen this. Thank God she's on the mend bless her
  7. Having been the one whgo took Heidi across to boarding it's such a shame she couldn't be moved to rescue while the space is available. She is a beautiful and friendly girl, and although she doesn't appear stressed by kennels I'm sure she'd much rather be on her way to finding that new forever home. The facts Without volunteer drivers dogs can't move to rescue. If dogs can't move to rescue they block spaces in boarding kennels. If boarding kennel spaces are full and there's no flow of dogs out, then poundies out of time can't move into boarding. If poundies can't move to boarding, there is no alternative but being put to sleep. It's as simple as that... Please, if you can ever help, say so. Don't be shy.

Thankfully it was just a glich, and today my son Ben and I had real pleasure of taking 2 of the 8 pups to rescue. Apparently though I'm an evil Mum because I wouldn't let him keep one Scrappy and Scooby were little gems in the car. More scared than anything I think, but they settled down in the crate and slept most of the way, with little yelps every so often as they dreamt. On arrival at rescue we were met by Ruth, and one of the chaps, who were both oohing over how gogeous they are. Both puppies were very nervous, and had just been very sick moments before pulling up. I lifted Scrappy out, and she was shaking. Cuddled her for a moment and handed her to Ruth. Lifted Scooby out and the poor little boy was petrified. He curled his legs around my arm and refused to let go. His grip was really firm, and he clung on for dear ife. I carried him into the office while Ruth took Scrappy, shivering. This big scary world must have seemed so huge and cold to them after a warm cosy house and their Mum and siblings to snuggle up with. I felt quite cruel leaving them, but I know they'll get lots of fuss and be well looked after before finding perfect homes. They've gone into a small kennel together, so they'll have each other for now. I did take a photo of Scooby, but Scrappy looked so scared I didn't want to have her pulled about any more. Scooby on my Ben's lap:

Worringly the owner has not been contactable all day (mobile switched off) despite knowing they'd be getting a call to arrange the details for transport for the morning (which has now had to be cancelled due to lack of contact and bad weather). Please keep your fingers crossed it's just a glich!
  13. Just so long as you haven't given her my address. Mine has today had ANOTHER sofa cushion and one of my walking boots. BIG SIGH!

Just to add: Mum is definitely being done, and a voucher has been provided. It's the Dad I'm having to work on. I've given as much health info as I can, and suggested they speak to their vet instead of listening to friends who say it'll ruin the dog. They have all our contact details, an info pack etc, so fingers crossed.

The little white one with the eye patch is the only one NOT being moved to rescue. His name is Badger and he has a home. Sorry!

  20. No thanks...I've got a Tillie chewer of my own. I do want her story and photos though (as an incentive I'll send my Tillie over for a holiday with you if you don't send me something for the website! ).
  21. I'm looking to update the Rehomed & Happy page and add the dogs that haven't yet been added. I want to hear from you if you have a rehomed dog via RDR, or a failed foster. (This applies only to those homed directly via RDR, not those moved to other rescues). I think there are a few of you here (Mrs Mop?, Helen?, Vikki? 7lurchers?). The dog's I have on my list are: Ross Mabel - sorted Oscar Meg Boots Jack Alfie Tyler Wolf Yuffie Scooby Candy Sam Tilly I need from you the story behind the dog. How they came to you through RDR, how they were when they first moved in, how they've grown/progressed/settled. Photos of their time with you (and if you have them, pre-homing) would be great. Please either drop me an email to [email protected] or PM me with your phone number and I will call you to get the story to save you typing it all out yourself. It means your dog will have a featured space on the RDR website, and their own page with their own homing story Look forward to hearing from you
