  1. Congratulations!!! I am so very pleased for you!!
  2. Maybe you will have lots of ickle spiderlings soon ;). Just joking... although.... hmmm...
  3. Sorry . It went away as it came - over night. I had it for 6 days and then it just disappeard. There in the evening and gone in the morning. GP hasn't got the foggiest what it was and no sense sending me to tests now.
  4. My heart goes out to you, Amanda. When I was pregnant with my son, I bled heavily and was told I had had a miscarriage very early on. However, I felt sick and my breasts hurt, so I did a pregnancy test 3 weeks after the bleed and it was positive. And sure enough the little bugger was still there and will now be starting school in September! I wish you all the luck in the world!!!
  5. Roger is holidaying at present (in Rome above all places) but he kept himself informed and phoned me this afternoon to tell me that another and last appeal has been lodged and Bruce will NOT be pts'd on Monday due to this. We REALLY need to keep the pressure going at this stage. Email all your MP's and the contacts on the list.
  6. What sickens me the most is that there was a REAL chance of a legal precendence (sp?) which could have let to a review of the DDA in NI or at the very least the consideration of adopting the amendment. And the numpty owner threw it all away. I am regulary talking to a guy who has had 3 dogs taken off him over 2 years ago. He is bending over backwards to get his dogs freed, he's there at EVERY court hearing, no matter how small, he never gives up. I had this grown man weep on the phone to me. WEEP! He now suffers from depression and it's taken a huge toll on his health. He never went after glory, he never posted on Bebo. And she fecked it up for him - royally
  7. http://www.rte.ie/news/2009/0701/farming.html I rest my case ;).
  8. Maybe it would have helped if she had bothered to appear in court. Or if her solicitor had gotten back to me as I had offered to be present as I thought it might sway the judge to release him to me and be rid of the case. If this dog dies than she has herself to thank for it. There are no words to descripe how I feel right now.
  9. Still there, still same colour and hasn't spread. How very weird..
  10. He looks like a Pharaoh Hound. I hope he gets a good home soon.
  11. D'accord. My son can now say "oh, ffs!" because he heard me say it in the van as yet another MJ song came on. Sigh..
  12. I went to my GP this morning. he is stumped as it appears to be deep under the skin. No other symptoms, its not even hot, doesn't hurt and doesn't turn white when you poke it. It hasn't spread. No scratches on my hand or arm either. I've taken Arnica just in case but GP perscriped nothing and told me to come back Monday.
  13. No, no bite, at least none that I can see. What worries me is that it didn't fade at all since this morning. If its still there Monday then I'll see the GP.
  14. I woke up this morning with this on my arm: It is not a bruise but of deep crimson colour, the arm is slightly swollen but doesn't hurt, itch or impair me in any way. It seems to be deep under my skin, the skin itself is not raised. I did not have a fall etc nor do I have any allergies, well, apart from wasps. Any ideas?
  15. Thank you, he is one success story I am particulary proud of . His coat is a nightmare and requires constant attention or it mats within a week. It's like silk and the combed out hair floats through the air...
  16. Today I shed a tear or two as Finnegan went off to his forver home with a lovely German couple and their dog Lassie. I am soooo pleased, it is an exeptional home! And here they are shortly before they headed off: Have a good life, Finnegan!!!
  17. He now has a name: Milo.
  18. I got this via email so can't verify a link:
  19. Looks like mare and foal :rolleyes. Harry is ever so gentle with him although the little one (who's about a year old) is quite a spunky little colt. Say hello to Milo, a leftover from the local annual horse fair in Derrybrien: Lovely blue eye, still a bit scruffy looking but a good worm dose will sort that out.
  20. I think it's up to the individual to decide which dog they want to spend their life with. Apart from the very first and very last dog all my dogs were rescues, most of which were "sticky's" no one else wanted, like Merlin the handicapped GH or Toughy the grumpy Lurcher from a Limerick Itinerant camp. The very last dog was chosen by me not for his breed (although floppy ears are a HUGE plus for an "ear fetishist" like myself) but for his temperament and his ability as a pack dog to fit into my already existing house pack without a hitch or drama. He is from a breeder who is also running a rescue. However, since middle age as irrevocably (sp) crept in, I feel unable to handle big strong dogs anymore, so this has already reflected on the breeds/types I take into EGAR. No more Great Danes or Johnson AmBulls for me, I am simply no longer able for them physically.
  21. Is it really? After all the petshop bought dog "takes" as much room (i.e. an unwanted dog dies in its stead)as a breeder bought one according to some posts here. And before you all get the wrong idea, I do not judge, neither the person who bought the pup in a petshop nor the one who went to a breeder or a rescue.
  22. I didn't particpate in the thread at all, Chickentikka. But it was allowed to go on and on and on.
  23. I remember how a person on here got quartered in a long thread over buying a pup in a pet shop.
  24. I find that pretty secondary considering there are lives involved both human and canine.
