gremlin22 Posted May 22, 2010 Report Share Posted May 22, 2010 (edited) This stunning girl is Tyler She came into us in September 2009, via the inspectors after a really poor start. She was tied outside and was being tormented by local children. When she first came in she was in pretty poor condition. About a month after she came in, in the space of one afternoon her neck had swollen to the point she had to be hospitalised for fear she wouldn't be able to breathe, after some emergency surgery a two inch sewing needle was removed from her neck, which was embedded very close to her spine. The only reason the swelling had come up so fast was that the needle had been in so long it had begun to rust inside her, and the flaking rust had caused the reaction. Tyler was good as gold with all the vets at the time and god only knows what the poor girl had gone through in her previous home. As a result of the appalling start she does have a few issues She hasn't had much socialisation with people, so can be quite wary when she first meets new people and quite vocal, but once she knows you, which doesn't take long at all..she is so very affectionate. She seems to prefer women to men but with a bit of time i'm sure she would come round to anyone interested. She hasn't had any socialisation with dogs either so is very vocal around them and would need to be an only pet.We have been working on this and walking her on lead alongside other dogs and she is improving. She is very intelligent and loves to play! she's very good at basic commands if you have her toy in your hands. She is going to need a very experienced owner who is willing to put in the time and effort to help bring her around and socialise her better. She will need to be an only pet, and will need a quieter, child free home where someone is around most of the day as she is very lively and will need lots of stimulation to keep her occupied. She doesn't show herself well in kennels but fingers crossed the right person is out there and will give this girl the loving caring home she deserves. She is currently receiving help from a behaviourist who is willing to work with anyone who adopts her to keep together a training programme for her. Given a chance, Tyler will be the most amazingly loyal girl. we will rehome anywhere in the yorkshire, manchester and hull areas, or possibly further afield providing any potential adopters are willing to travel to see Tyler on a few occasions first. gremlin22 Posted July 26, 2010 Author Report Share Posted July 26, 2010 Tyler is still looking. on a brighter note,she is doing really well with her training and now seems much quicker to take to new people when introduced right.She has been looking since last september now though so is getting a little fed up of her kennel to say the least! We will rehome anywhere within reason, so long as you have a nearby branch of the rspca we can ask to do a homevisit and so long as everyone in the house is willing to come and get to know Tyler first. I have seen several dogs that look like Tilly in rescues, they were the same age as well so could be from the same litter and some younger as Tyler is. gremlin22 Posted October 3, 2010 Author Report Share Posted October 3, 2010 Well it's taken almost three weeks, but this afternoon after some very intensive socialising Tyler went off lead with the two GSD's and was great! So she is reserved and I'm pretty sure home visit will be fine. Her new owner is a really lovely experienced owner who is quite local to us, and we are so so pleased this has worked out!..fourteen months in kennels near enough, lots of behavioural work but she's done it!
