Lost Dogs In West Yorks

get quite a few people ringing us at work asking who to contact when they have lost their dog. I'm a bit confused lately. I currently say Springfield kennels and Mount pleasant and is it fleet lane or something in bradford? It used to be oakenshaw grange and marina too but I don't know if they are still open or not, keep hearing conflicting things about marina..anyone know? do you report it to the police? i know every area has a dog warden and i tell people to contact 24 hr vets too in case it was taken in injured out of hours..should i be telling people to check every vet or would an injured dog the dog warden picked up go to a standard vet? if someone takes an injured dog to a vets off their own back do vets report it as stray to the wardens or not? also point in direction of doglost too but is there anything else i could be suggesting? aside from posters etc..can anyone clarify what stray kennels are still open in the area?

Always tell owners to check every vet, as quite often people hand strays in to the nearest vet.

I'm not up to speed with what kennels take strays up north though I know Marina has closed. What I will do is to post your request on the Doglost team forum, and I'm sure one of the northern co-ords will provide the info you seek for me to crosspost back here.

More info from DL team members:

"Leeds Dog Wardens use Springfield Kennels and Mount Pleasant at Hampole, Doncaster.

Bradford Dog Wardens have now started to use more Fleet Kennels at Queensbury, Bradford West Yorkshire, but as far as I am aware ( as of today ) also use Springfield Kennels , Flushdyke , Ossett, Wakefield

There is also a PDSA HOSPITAL, BRADFORD.

Depends on the actual area, as where I am (Bradford dog warden jurisdiction ) I am only 2 miles from where the Leeds dog warden would be the contact if the dog is picked up in their area. Then in another direction probably 15 miles would then Skipton dog warden."

"Marine Closed in July, Oakenshaw shouldn't be taking dogs anymore either.

Springfield take dogs from just about everywhere, Fleet Lane - Bradford.

Mount Pleasant- takes Doncaster area"

Hope we have got everything covered for you :) Anything more you need to know, just ask.
