Anne Grose
And if it a lurcher type with tattoos in both ears one of which starts DHO - then it is a lurcher bred by David Hancock in birmingham
Jazz
really?you learn something every day. thank you xxxx
Anne Grose
Yes, really I have a Hancock lurcher with DHO in one ear and a number in the other who came to me from a rescue. You won't find these tattoos on greyhound sites but David Hancock will tell you all about the dog from its number.
Jazz
I didnt know lurchers had tattoos. Why do they have them?
Anne Grose
Probably same reason greyhounds have them - identification purposes. Hancock breeds an awful lot of lurchers each year (I was told he had a 100 greyhound breeding bitches and from his website you can see he has 10 stud dogs) so I guess he needs some way of keeping a record of them and unlike pedigree dogs they don't have registered names. Happylittlegreensquirrel
if the dog is Irish there is also a another site that has more details I am trying to find the link , when I checked Gracie ( Rorys Run ) on it a few years ago it had way more info on her racing and siblings than the UK one
Abigailj
Was it the IGB (Irish Greyhound Board?)
Happylittlegreensquirrel
Was it the IGB (Irish Greyhound Board?) I thought it was but I can't find the link on their site
Abigailj
looks like they spruced it up a bit. You can search for your dog on this part of the site here I just tried searching for Milly and she came up. Not sure if it is as detailed as it used to be... Happylittlegreensquirrel
Thanks Abigail the site has changed, it has a lot more positive info about Greys as pets which is an improvement on the old site as well I did find some more data on Gracie ( Rorys Run ) http://www.igb.ie/Trainers-Landing/Greyhou...41-92417E6387B9 on the UK database she only shows as having 2 races mind you there are still 5 years between her last race and turning up in rescue that are totally unaccounted for
