Cafferysmum
I do love a good candle going, but mine are high up.... Hubby just returned from motherinlaws and took Caffery our 14 year old collie with him to see grandma and we gave her some candles, but she had some candles burning on her fire place low down... Caffery is a very furry collie and a very furry collie tail when all of a sudden motherlaw noticed that his tail had caught alight, as he had wafted his tail near the candle... Quick action and alls ok and he has burnt his furry tail, but only the tail and he was totally oblivious to it all.... and is fine........ infact he was so fussed he loved it, and didnt realise thank god what all the fuss was about Please be aware of candles burning low down.... esp with dogs around

madison
That's one of the reasons I dare not have candles in my flat. Can't have them on the mantlepiece either as the cats would getthem especially Max with his huge tail. The main reason I don't have them is I would forget to put them out when I went to bed. Edited to say glad to hear Caffery is ok and not bothered by the incident. Edited December 16, 2008 by madison
reds
Very good warning, glad Caffery is ok. I know there are folk who 'party pooper' or 'nanny state' such warnings but believe me, once it happens to you (and it can) you'll wish you'd listened. uke
About this time last year I watched one of the cats (Bob-O) sit on a lit candle. We moved to covered burners and candles in holders that the cats can't reach after that.
