Urgent South Glos

Recommended Posts

Have received an email from South Glos Dogwarden - see below, please help in any way if you can. Call Celine on (01454) 863824, she's a wonderful dogwarden who really cares about her dogs and I know will be devasted if she has to PTS

Hello All

We are in a worse state than we have ever been in the 8 years I have done this job!

We have 10 dogs at this moment needing homes, by Friday we will have more, we only have 12 kennels and if we get any more dogs in WE WILL BE FORCED TO DESTROY SOME of them, I cannot bear to do this as all the dogs that we have have come in a terrible state, we have got them all treated and on the mend and now we may have to make the decision to destroy, it is just not right………we need help.

Please everyone look at our website www.southglos.gov.uk go to index, then D, then dog of week. The dogs that have been with us longest are Fly, Arthur, Nellie, Nora, and Zeb. Apart from Fly all of these dogs are friendly with people and other dogs, Zeb and Arthur I know like cats, I haven’t tested the staffis yet though. The staffis are lovely little staffis who have poorly treated and deserve a chance, THEY GET ALONG WELL TOGETHER AND HAVE SHOWN NO AGGRESSION TO ANY OTHER DOGS.

By Friday if nothing claimed, and it looks like it won’t be, we will be looking for homes for a blind spaniel, a gorgeous young male rotti, and 3 legged terrier as well.

PLEASE IF THERE IS ANYWHERE OUT THERE THAT CAN HELP RING ME, CELINE 01454 863824 OR 07810180750

EVEN IF YOU ARE A LONG WAY AWAY WE WILL TRY TO GET TRANSPORT SORTED

I don't know about Fly, but my colleagues at Doglost have got 2 of them sorted, these being the lurcher Flash Gordon who is now booked to WEGLR and the blind spaniel who has a place with NESSR.

If anyone speaks to the S Glos DWs, please update us all with any others who are now spoken for.

Just spoke to Celine.

The following dogs have spaces:

Flash Gordon - Lurcher

Blind Spaniel

Reg - Border Collie

Sage - Terrier

Onion - Terrier.

The rest still need help.

Deborah, the behaviourist/trainer has backed out of taking Fly.

South Glouc DW had him neutered and vaccinated in the anticipation of him going, and now it isn't happening.

Here are the details.

Piccies are on the link mentionned at the start of the thread.

My name is Rodney

I am a small very thin Staffordshire Cross, probably about 1 year old, i have not been well looked after and i am very underweight but am putting some weight on now I am at the kennels and getting regular food and a nice comfy bed. I would like a new home for my skinny little body, somewhere away from the kingswood area, i would love a nice garden that is secure and i would really enjoy at least 2 walks a day. I know there are a lot of us Staffis looking for homes, please don't be put of by our breed we are the most loving dogs with people and children and if we are socialised well we are good with other dogs too, we are little bundles of happiness and joy and would make a wonderful addition to most homes. Please consider me for your home.

Hello my name is Nellie

I was found in very suspicious circumstances and in very poor condition, I have recently had pups and I had a horrid septic ulcer of one of my teats, I had mange and I am very underweight. Luckily the dog wardens got me and I have been to the vets and had treatment for my bad bits, I feel much better now and am putting weight on now I am being fed properly. I am probably about 3 years old and I am a small Staffordshire Bull Terrier, I was found with Nora and we get along well, I should be ok with other dogs and should be fine with children although the dog wardens would only consider rehoming me to a home with children over 8 years old that are sensible. I will need vaccinating and neutering if you wish to rehome me.

I have not been well looked after and all I really want is a nice home where I will be loved and never have to worry about if I will be fed or neglected again. I am very loving so please consider me for your home

love Nellie x x

My name is Nora

I was found in the same circumstances as Nellie, also suffering from mange with a lot of my hair missing and also very underweight. Again I am a little girl Staffordshire Bull Terrier aged about 3 years old. I am a very friendly little girl and I just need to be loved, I haven't been looked after well by whoever was my previous owner was and I need a nice home to be loved and not to have to worry about being neglected or abused ever again. I will need vaccinating and neutering if you adopt me, I will also need training and 2 good walks a day. I get on fine with Nellie and should ok with other dogs and children, but the children must be over 8 years old and well behaved.

If you think you can give me a good home where I will never have to suffer again please call

love Nora xxx

My name is Zeb

I am probably a Labrador x Staffordshire Bull. I am only a baby, probably about 4 to 5 months. I was found tied up and abandoned at Cribbs Causeway. I am a little boy and will need to be castrated as soon as I am old enough. I will also need my vaccinations. I am a very bouncy puppy and would benefit from an active home. I would enjoy some older children that could play ball with me and have lots of fun. I would need to go to dog training so I can learn how to behave well and socialise with other dogs and people. The kennels are a scary and loud place for a pup and so I want a home soon.

Love Zeb

Update:

Zeb came into our kennel after being tied up and abandoned at Cribbs Causeway, he came to kennels and within a week became very ill, he has spent a week at the vets being treated for a virus. Zeb is now recovering and needs a home, he is young and loving and being in a kennel when you are ill is no fun for a dog that has been ill, someone out there must want a gorgeous little dog like Zeb, please consider him for your home.

Further message from Celine:

"Please can we say a huge, enormous thank you to everyone who has offered to help with our unclaimed stray dogs. We have now homed or secured rescue places for all except the two young male Staffie crosses. If anyone could still help with these it would be lovely but the immediate crisis seems to have passed. THANK YOU!!!

Celine and Celia"

Please don't forget the boys too! I know everywhere is full of staffy x's but they're only young and have good temperaments etc. I was shocked to hear about Fly too, so thought he was sorted :(

Many thanks again for all the offers of help :)
