Rachel
This is Barney from South Gloucester Council and this is their write up. He is in a foster home with 7 other dogs but needs a home of his own. He is quite vocal and talks (growls) to anyone near him, this is NOT aggression, its what he believes he should be doing but it can be very off putting to people who are not dog savvy. He is a lovely dog who will steal your heart but needs someone special with the time and commitment to give him the home he deserves. He is an entire male 4 year old Collie x German Shepherd. Barney is a lovely dog but has had a hard time, his owner signed him over to us due to personal problems. Barney according to information we received has rarely been out of a tiny flat, he was rarely walked and therefore has lacked socialisation, and has led a sheltered and lonely life. When we picked Barney up in the past as a stray he was a lovely friendly dog but when he came back to us this time he seemed much more nervous, we believe that Barney may have been beaten. A charity agreed to take him into their re-homing centre but a few weeks later they contacted us and told us that Barney had become hard to handle and asked if we’d take him back. We collected him the next week and he was absolutely fine with us but we were concerned that the kennel environment might be stressing him out as he wasn’t used to the noise and the people. We arranged for another lovely charity, called animals in mind to take him. Animals in mind keep the dogs in a home environment and Barney has been living very happily with 7 other dogs and has caused no problems with any of the dogs or the people. So now its time to find Barney a home, he would like a home with an experienced dog owner that has a secure garden. He would happily live with or without dogs and would enjoy at least 2 walks a day, he would need dog training and will probably really enjoy agility. Animals in mind said he is fine with children but we would only home him with well behaved sensible children over the age of 12. If you think you may be the special person to give Barney a home he deserves then please contact us as soon as possible. tel: 01454 868000 Barney has been cross posted with permission but serious enquiries should be to the phone number above.
