gooster
Eddie is being neutered on Tuesday (*wibble* ) and I was just wondering if giving him arnica after it has been done will speed his recovery. If so, what strength and dose should I give him? He's a *ahem* 9kg mini schnauzer
Carole Stitcher
Hi Gooster I'm no expert, but gave Sooty Arnica after her mammary strip, and i think it helped tremendously. She weighs in at about 6kg, and I was advised to give her 30c 3 times daily for a few days. As I understand it, homeopathic remedies are meant to be given until they start to work, so we gave them to her for three days. Hope that helps, but I'm sure someone with more knowledge than me will be along.
LurcherGirl
I always give arnica before and after any op and they have so far always recovered amazingly well!
gooster
Thanks Hopefully they'll remove his wonky dewclaw as well, as it grows out instead of down, and he keeps catching it Will venture out to the shops this weekend
Helen
i don't know if Muriel posts on here? but she told me, to give Arnica 30c for 3 days before and 3 days after, 3x a day or something like that? Meg had her spey in January, and 2 dew claws removed, and everything was healed up nicely within days, no swelling or worries. good luck Eddie
Rykat
I've given my rabbits arnica after they've been neutered and after one of them had an eye op. I'm convinced it helped. I used 3 or 4 pillules (sp?) from the Nelson's pup packet thing-a-me-wot in their water bottle (600ml)
gooster
Bought some arnica today and have started him on it... Hopefully he'll recover quickly (although dad said why didn't I think of it when he had his op )

gooster
Put this in RMF, but thought I'd repeat it here... We are back from the vets - we picked him up at 3.30. They did his dewclaw for us too (cost us extra though - £120 ) He is not allowed to go for a walk for 3 days and then it's lead walks only for another 7 days He has got metacam liquid stuff to take as well to help take the pain away from his leg. We have a wound check appointment on Friday and then his stitches are coming out the following Friday (hope that's all included in the £120 ) Ed is currently curled up in his cage waiting for his scrambled egg and boiled rice to cool down enough so he can eat it Here is a picture of the little man

Muriel
Hi guys just got registered here - yep, Arnica 30c three times daily for a few days will do the trick Just one tablet needed at a time. What a cutie Eddie is, glad he's doing fine, sending Reiki too
gooster
Thanks Muriel - we've been giving him 2 tablets though Does it matter?
Muriel
Won't do any harm at all, just a waste as only one is needed. The beauty of Homeopathy is that even taking a whole bottle would do no harm as long as it's the right remedy, but not advised obviously!
