Happylittlegreensquirrel
I am running Windows Vista home edition on my laptop ( came installed ) I am having some trouble uninstalling some unwanted programs as it tells me "the system administrator has set polices to prevent the installation" which is odd for a number of reasons I am the only user account ( and its set as an administrator ) and I am trying to uninstall something not install it ( which is what the message refers too ) any ideas Sam
snow
I don't use Vista (and don't intend to for a good while yet lol) however I did a bit of techy googling - not sure if this will work but seems to be the most frequently suggested option. open the start menu and select run type secpol.msc then OK. A menu will appear. Select local policies then security options. Scroll down to "user account control" settings of which there are several. Disable the very first setting. Look here as well: http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsVista...3.mspx?mfr=true
Happylittlegreensquirrel
Thanks Snow something else must be wrong/missing as I get as far as the secpol.msc step and it does not work ( no file of that name found ) Vista is a pain in the arse
snow
Yours must be Vista home then - ok try this: Go into your Control Panel, then Administrative Tools --> System Configuration --> Tools Tab --> Down to Disable UAC. Disable the UAC - see if that works.

Bernie
Sam, have a peek here HELP on which there is a forum to help Vista users, someone maybe able to advise. You have to register but I've used the site for several years and always had good advice and help. Edited September 22, 2007 by Bernie
