Ruthi (borrowadog)
Anyone have any knowledge or experience of this? I want to take Seamus to classes and the most local ones use this method. Is it any different to normal reward based training? Because if it ain't then I could use a lot of petrol going to the not quite so local classes for the difference in price. I know that I could train him by myself - he's so clever it doesn't take long. But I think it would be good experience for Les (and he is up for us each taking a dog to classes and agility too), and more fun anyway. And Tiger would probably enjoy some advanced classes now that we haven't been to any for a few years. I have my own views on feeding - so not interested in that side of it. K9Fran
I seem to remember Volhard methods are somewhere towards the leash correction type methods, rather than totally reward based.
khanu
http://www.volhard.com/training/vmm.htm Seems its motivational reward based training. Even so i would advise going along without your dog to watch a class first to see if it is for you.
celeste
Don't know what their trainings like but Wendy Volhard has written a lot of very interesting papers on behaviour, and i think has a few books out, if memory serves me right she's pretty good
