Katie
The banning docked tails can't come quick enough. Put little mites. Thank goodness you were there for them. Having said that the 'docking' of tails in the manner this poor dog was subjected to has been illegal for a number of years. Sadly some people will continue to do such barbaric acts regardless of a complete ban. Thank goodness the poor little lads are now safe and will never have to be subjected to such treatment again. ~Canis-Equus~
That is disgusting, poor lad! Agree with Katie though, afaik its NEVER been legal to dock a dogs tail with a cable tie - people who were willing to break the law these past however many years are going to carry on doing so until its actually policed, lets hope the new legislation will allow that to happen. JoC
It's not policed now because you can't look at a stump and tell whether it was done by a vet or not. Once it becomes illegal, it'll be pretty obvious if it's been done illegally, cos the dog wont have a tail! Hope those two poor boys recover soon. Pouchie
Poor little lads I am so glad they managed to escape and find humanity but the sort of people who do this will carry on regardless of the laws

Cos theres all the dogs docked before it was illegal, then theres all the exempt ones that can still be docked, although admittedly they are fewer than before.... So its possible, if say rottie pups are seen that the person who docked them could be tracked down (as they arent exempt), But will it be? Thats what needs to be pushed for IMO. And then with the exempt breeds who CAN be docked if they are to work...... are the police really going to stop each one to check its documentation? Sadly, i deeply suspect not.
