Kathyw
I just looked at a regions explained page and it said that UK is region 2. I have a new DVD that says region 2 is Western Europe and somewhere else. DVD will not play in my laptop it says wrong region. Will this DVD play on Ray's portable player and why won't it play on mine? Thank you
GingerMacYoYo
I always thought region 2 was Europe in general including here in the U.K.
Richard (The Sane)
UK is definitly Region 2 - as is the rest of europe - map below http://www.hometheaterinfo.com/dvd3.htm Should work fine in the portable player, but laptops & computers have more than one place to change the region. On the laptop you have the player software, and also the DVD drive hardware. If you have not used the DVD drive in the laptop then you will need to set the region before it will play a region encoded disk. WHat is the DVD player software you have? Kathyw
It's PowerDVD - powered by Cyberlink. I have played dvd's on here before and it's been fine but this time it wouldn't play and it had two regions - down under or western europe. akitas
I had a similar problem today, but with my dvd player, in the end it turned out the dvd has a copy protection and that's why my dvd player doesn't like it. COuld watch it on the computer though
