  1. I have been training my mum's dog as she has just had her hip replaced (on Friday). Ran her at Portland and got a 10th. Then we went to Chippenham, were she was great, but due to me didn't get it right all the time - but we came away with a 10th and 5th (the 5th was after a run off, which we won and went clear again). Was soooooo pleased with her. Dizzy dog has had a long break but brought her out for Portland where she came 12th. Ran her at Chippenham and got a clear - but I think her neck is playing up, so will be off to the chiroprator asap. Well done to everyone else. 2007 will be a stunning year for Refuge's, roll on.
  2. Hello Carol Thank you for sharing your dogs with us, hope you enjoy it here. I'm from Somerset too
  3. Had this email and thought I'd share it with you........ My wife asked me to go to Tesco's to buy a large bag of Purina for our Labrador Retriever and I was in line to check out...... A woman behind me asked if I had a dog. On impulse, I told her that no, I was starting The Purina Diet again, although I probably shouldn't because I'd ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms. I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pants pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry & that the food is nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again. I have to mention here that practically everyone in the line by now was enthralled with my story, particularly a tall guy behind her. Horrified, she asked if I'd been poisoned and was that why I was in the hospital. I said no.....I'd been sitting in the street licking my balls and a car hit me. I thought the tall guy was going to have to be carried out the door.
  4. Its called Cleverdogs and lots of fun. It includes jumps, dogwalk (small size) and 6 weaves. After completing the agility part, you go straight down the flyball lane.
  5. Dizzycharm

    Oh No!

Good Luck Just go for it, and try to enjoy yourself (your dog will)
  6. Have a great time at Bincknoll. I went to Blackdown Show instead, today - took big gazebo and paddling pool, it was lovely.
  7. Briliant, definately made me chuckle and groan
  8. Well done, keep up the good work and have fun. Looks like we'll have a few new faces to meet up with next year at shows
  9. I saw the beginners steeplechase on Saturday and I thought it was a bit much for the level. Beginners jumping on Sunday looked nice though (walked it with a friend who was in it). I had a good weekend. With two dogs, I managed 3 1st's and 1 2nd, so really pleased, they worked really well - all the other classes were totally my fault when we went wrong, so was still pleased as they worked well in all classes.
  10. Wish I'd been able to read this before I went. Worked all day, raced home, had shower, put last stuff in the car, got caravan and got the newbury eventually at 8.45pm Friday night. If I'd known I would have meet up for a chat
  11. Good Luck . You'll have a great time, and don't forget to let us know how it goes.
  12. Well done Lucy and Megan . I was there aswell, not long got home as we camped. Dizzy did really, well 1st in Senior Steeplechase (std) and 1st in Senior Agility (std) on Saturday (only need some points in games to go into Champion - scary). Also ran Mum's dog (she can't run because of her hip) Gem, and got, 2nd in Novice Jumping (std), and 1st in Senior Steeplechase (std) today. It was a good weekend (especially the bbq and beer in the evenings )
  13. Fantastic pictures So glad you and Indy and enjoying yourself (and the others aswell). Indy has come on so much since you both started, well done . So when do you plan to do your first show
  14. Saw this on ebay Agility Sign
  15. Sorry, don't know. The modem just arrived when we got wanadoo - and when that one blew up when we had a thunder storm , they sent another.
  16. A father passing by his son's bedroom, was astonished to see the bed was nicely made, and everything was picked up. Then, he saw an envelope, propped up prominently on the pillow. It was addressed, "Dad." With the worst premonition, he opened the envelope and read the letter, with trembling hands. "Dear, Dad. It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you. I had to elope with my new girlfriend, because I wanted to avoid a scene with Mom and you. I've been finding real passion with Stacy, and she is so nice, but I knew you would not approve of her, because of all her piercings, tattoos, her tight Motorcycle clothes, and because she is so much older than I am. But it's not only the passion, Dad. She's pregnant. Stacy said that we will be very happy. She owns a trailer in the woods and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. We share a dream of having many more children. Stacy has opened my eyes to the fact that marijuana doesn't, really hurt anyone. We'll be growing it for ourselves, and trading it with the other people in the commune, for all the cocaine and ecstasy we want. In the meantime, we'll pray that science will find a cure for AIDS, so Stacy can get better. She sure deserves it!! Don't worry Dad, I'm 15, and I know how to take care of myself. Someday, I'm sure we'll be back to visit, so you can get to know your many grandchildren. Love, your son, John. P.S. Dad, none of the above is true. I'm over at Tommy's house. I just wanted to remind you that there are worse things in lifethan the school report that's on my desk. I love you! Call when it is safe for me to come home.
  17. I've had this sent to me ages ago, and thought I'd post it on here (sorry if its been done already). AMAZINGLY SIMPLE HOME REMEDIES 1. If you are choking on an ice cube, don't panic. Simply pour a cup of boiling water down your throat and presto! The blockage will be almost instantly removed. 2. Clumsy? Avoid cutting yourself while slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold them while you chop away. 3. Avoid arguments with the Mrs. about lifting the toilet seat by simply using the sink. 4. For high blood pressure sufferers: simply cut yourself and bleed for a few minutes, thus reducing the pressure in your veins. Remember to use a timer. 5. A mouse trap, placed on top of your alarm clock, will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button. 6. If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives, then you will be afraid to cough. 7. Have a bad toothache? Smash your thumb with a hammer and you will forget all about the toothache. 8. Sometimes, we just need to remember what the rules of life really are: You only need two tools - WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape. 9. Remember: Everyone seems normal until you get to know them. 10. Never pass up an opportunity to go to the bathroom. If you woke up breathing, congratulations! You get another chance. And finally, be really nice to your family and friends; you never know when you might need them to empty your bedpan Some people are like slinkies..........They are not really good for anything, but.....They still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
  18. Don't panic, break it all down again. Go back to one jump, two jumps etc in a row until he is listening and concentrating ahead. Same with turns and pull throughs. Over one jump and turn either left or right - throw the ball - keep it simple. Progress to straight lines and turns (not too many) and turns into straight lines etc. Also use ball for pull throughs as it can be tempting for a dog nip when coming towards you. Do you use directional commands? If he is being told what to do then he will have less time to nip. Some dogs get frustrated when they aren't being told what to do, and this can lead to either nipping, running off or turning in circle (amongst other things). Just relax and take it slowly. Remember his reward is the toy - build up the sequences slowly and increase amount of obstacles it takes before he gets the toy (after the first basic retraining period). Hope it all goes well
  19. Well done Ty and of course Bebe, sounds like you are making good progress. I did read somewhere that after a training session you should allow your dog to rest for half an hour, in quiet, as this helps them to absorb the info they have just learnt - probably just a useless fact I thought I'd share
  20. I'm very sorry that it didn't go as planned. You're right to make the choice which is best for you and the dog. Do you do clicker work? That would be good to teach tricks and useful stuff around the house, and also isn't over the top. Maybe even a bit of HTM style moves. Just an idea (I've never used a clicker, but heard they are great), so that the two of you can enjoy something together.
  21. Thats a shame . Maybe there are some other clubs around your area? It would be sad if you had to stop if you both enjoyed it so much
  22. NED does your girl like food? You can buy those toys which you put food in (friend has a little soft duck), these can be thrown and then dog will be rewarded when you get to them or they bring it back (open up the back to get food out). Obviously only good if your dog isn't going to do a runner with the toy and rip it to bits
  23. Hows it going, I've been waiting for more news. You must be pros by now
