  6. Friends of the Animals are holding a Ttouch day at the home of Valleys Kids the childrens charity I work for. The venue is Soar FFwdamos Chapel, Penygraig and is about 15 min drive from junction 34 on the M4. A map can be found by going to www.valleyskids.org and a tour of this wonderful building will be included. The 2 proposed dates are either 17th or 24th November. A further day will be arranged for the new year. The cost is approx £45 and lunch and refreshments will be provided by FOA volunteers. You will be able to bring a dog with you. If you would like to visit the valleys and have an informative day learning about Ttouch then please pm me. Eileen
  7. I'm so sorry I forgot all about this. Have sent £11 payment via paypal for lot no 238. Thanks Eileen
  8. I do think that if a vet has to come out to treat an animal it is reasonable to charge an additional fee for that service. Where clients are redirected to an out of hours emergency service that by it's very nature runs outside normal hours I think it is extortion to charge high consultation fees. They are on the premises seeing animals from lots of different practises anyway. A small addition to the consultation fee is acceptable but not amounts in the region of £95 as have been quoted here.
  9. Did check these out but wrong colour.

  12. Collected from pound in West Wales. Time up. Small terrier male. Poss Yorki x Chi or Yorki x JRT. Very small black and tan boy with white blaze on chest. Had some training, a real sweetie. Photo to follow
  13. Gizmo has been here nearly a week. He was handed in because his owner felt she could not cope with his health issues. She had been washing Gizmo's eyes with hibiscrub and all the skin around his eyes has gone and they are raw and bleeding. He has ulcerated, puss filled ears that bleed. he is meant to have a perferated eardrum but the vet can't see down that far. He was a very grumpy dog when i picked him up but has been a sweetie ever since. He was castrated on Monday and his ears and eyes cleaned. He now has eye drops and has his eyes washed with warm water. He hates this but is being very tolerant. |He has antibiotics and strong eardrops to try and blast the ear infection. He still wants to play although he must be in pain. Such a lovely little boy.
  14. Sorry Mindy calling you Cindy! Forgot to thank the lovely couple who met me at the Membury services on the Friday when it rained so much the surface of the M4 was lifting and there were floods everywhere. It took me 6 hours to do a 3 hour journey and I know theirs was equally bad. So sorry can't remeber their names but they were fantastic on a nightmare day with two very frightened girls.
  15. Thank you so much for these Cindy. You have all done a wonderful job at LRSE & C. It is wonderful to see these dogs now happy in their new homes. They look nothing like the sad, terrified and desperate dogs I collected all those months ago. Well done and thank you all.
  16. Had a call about this little girl last Friday morning at 7.30am. She was tied to railings with string in Trealow, Rhondda and was very thirsty when I picked her up. Found out later she had been there all night. She is currently in the Local Authority Animal Shelter.
  17. Female Siamese found one week ago on bypass going towards Llantrisant.
  18. Friends of the Animals are well on the way to achieving one of my dearest held wishes, to launch a free Lost and Found service to residents of Rhondda Cynon Taff our county borough. I first got involved in rescue because my little Yorki, Sophie, escaped from my garden on 1st August 2003 and disappeared. She was tagged and chiped but has never been found. The stress and heartache is almost unbearable when a much loved pet goes missing and I have long wanted to help people in a similar situation. We are awaiting delivery of a new computer which has been donated and have a volunteer ready to man the phone and log the details of any lost or found animals. We are receiving free business advice and support from Prime Cymru, a Lottery funded organisation and now just need sponsors to pay for the internet connection, phone calls and advertising. Hopefully articles will appear in our local papers this week and fingers crossed local businesses will offer their support. We will produce posters and give advice to owners on who they need to contact about their missing pet. We also hope to recruit volunteers throughout RCT to put up posters if an animal is lost or found in their area.We get a number of calls especially over the weekend about missing pets so it will be great to be able to offer more constructive help especially in that vital first 24 hours. Many of the residents in our area have no access to the internet so we will be able to enter the animals on various web sites including the Refuge. In Memory of Sophie
  19. Was speaking to a dog warden in west wales who said this was also saying how quiet things were. A fraction of the dogs he had coming in this time last year.
